Kudos to Sharon, new manager at the Colonie/Schenectady Store! Number one, she is super sweet, but dang! I came in that store on Wednesday morning and I could not believe the amount of merchandise out! It is like a different store! She has truly turned it around in one day! It makes me excited to go in there, because there is so much new merchandise every day! I am just astounded how she turned it around so fast! Thank you Sharon!
The truck driver and the labourer had no remorse on how they treated our house we gave them alot of good stuff that you could sell they wrecked our walls and scratched it bad where now we won't be able to get our full bond back I'm really $#*!ed off. I thinks it only fare yous pay for the damages yous did.😡

We felt compelled to do a "good deed" by donating our beautiful dining room set (original cost $5,400) to the Salvation Army because it is too large for our condo. They came out, noticed a "scratch" and REFUSED to take it. They said they only accept new items or furniture in EXCELLENT condition. Sickening and unappreciative. I will no longer donate anything to this organization, This is a business, NOT a charity. The government should revoke their "tax exempt" status.
Two weeks ago I scheduled online for a dresser and a nightstand to be picked up today from my elderly mother's residence. When I scheduled the pickup I asked to be notified an hour before they came and provided my email and phone number. I was at my mother's residence all day today and Salvation Army never showed up, emailed me or called me. I'm disgusted. Needless to say, I will never donate anything, whether an item or money, to Salvation Army again!
They Force the Recovering Addicts residing at their ARC (adult rehabilitation center) to apply for Government Assistance the same day they put them to work in their warehouse for 2,2$ consession vouchers a week. Our local stores prices are higher than retail. I used to clean the Captains office he had 60 thousand dollar Violins. Super Shady.

I don't recommend "anyone of color with a family"—to work here. "Unless your use to being a "yes man or woman" — Your work is always undervalued, Bosses are Bullies—Pay sucks. Racism is definitely how I describe the fake smiles in their faces. They don't really care about the community..
The Salvation Army has went down hill. There prices have went up dramatically over the years, and now they have eliminated half price senior day. That's hard to understand since everything is donated to them. I guess I'm done with the Salvation Army.
I saw their eBay auction of Udonis Haslem game worn jersey. The jersey had a MeiGray patch with a serial number. I contacted MeiGray and provided the serial number of the jersey. Turns out the jersey was never game worn. The worst part is that I messaged them right away and sent the screenshot of MeiGray reply. I got no response, they didn't take the auction down, didn't update the detailsof the auction to clarify that the jersey is not actually game worn.
Cleveland, Ohio. Should be a zero rating. Wanted to donate a loveseat, chair and ottoman. When they saw I have a dog, they used the excuse that there were "too many dog hairs on it" and wouldn't take it. After they left I found 3 or 4 while vacuuming it. They had already decided that they weren't going to take it. It was in good condition but they were lazy and didn't want to work. Unless you buy it new, they won't take it. Nothing on their site mentions pet hair. I won't ever donate to them again. Others I have since told have also heard of their reputation. Was told it's their option. They should be grateful for any donation.

I recently went to a Salvation Army store, at 2359 Jerome Avenue, Bronx, NY, looking for a sofa bed. There was one particular sofa bed of interest, priced at $549.00 (plus tax) The item had minor scratches, and was listed for sale, "As Is". I approached a salesperson at the cashier's desk, which I presumed to be the store manager. I confirmed the price with this person and asked her who had priced this item. She told me that she was the person responsible for the pricing. I took issue with the exorbitant price of the item, and I walked outs of the store.

I scheduled a donation pick up with the Bradenton Salvation Army. In the course of picking up the items LAST MONTH, they broke the closing arm on the screen door. Their building is spitting distance from my home. They must have maintenance people. They won't send their guy over to put the screws back in the arm. I have to deal with their insurance company. I have to FIND a handyman to come over and fix it. I have to send them a receipt, THEN WAIT to be reimbursed. I shouldn't have the burden of cleaning up their mess. No more money for their bell ringers, no more donations. MINUS ZERO STARS
I have been calling the salvation army in garland for over a month now just to see how to apply for the boys & girls club and still have not yet received a call back, go up there and no one is there but the business hour say they open...I'm lost with that one
I thought the salvation was for the people but I guess they for themselves too!
Smh this has become a nonchalant organization!
I pray that y'all would love and act like christians as y'all claim to be
They have elements ok kkk in their ranks which they Sadly refuse to deal with. Praying that they get enough courage to face the racism in their centers. Fairfax Salvation Army is plagued with rude nasty racists. SAD

Brought two 'complete' items as gifts. Both are actually incomplete making them basically unusable. Might as well as just chucked $80 away. Was refused a refund due to a month having passed before the items were opened. Contacted customer service via email re one item and 2 weeks later still no response. Make sure any large purchases are checked on premises in front of staff to make sure you are actually getting a usable product.
This store in Manassas area going for very bad service, one Cacheir for 20 person.you have to waiting long time(it's 15 min from your life)to get your turn, about her job she got mad if you try to ask her a question,Almost store they doing 50% discount on Holadays but this only for clothing.sometimes they put high prices for some stuff old more than the others stors...
Dump threatened me from staff $#*! that hole in the wall is $#*!ed up don't live by their standards stupid $#*!s should be ashamed worthless incompetent $#*! wipes smell like $#*! piss their panties too
I was picking up food at Salvation Army and the volunteers at the window were very rude. In addition, the black man who was delivering food and supplies was running people over and cursing. It is a horrible location and managed extremely poorly.
I scheduled a couch pick up a few weeks ago because I'm expecting new furniture. I could have easily got money for it but decided that I wanted to donate so that I'm helping a family in need. When you schedule a pick up, no where does it indicate that they screen your item first before taking it. Once the driver arrives he tells me that he has to take a picture first of my couch and he will call me back to let me know whether it's yes or no. He calls and said he was told no. So the Salvation Army only wants items that are in mint condition otherwise they won't take it. No family benefits from the donation it's only the company looking to profit off of the transaction. Shame on you Salvation Army! Never will I think about donating a nickel to this company. Not only do you waste people's time but families that are in need miss out based on your greed. A supervisor called me just to say he called which was a complete waste of time.Never again!
What a bunch of incompetent individuals working at the Salvation Army. The director sense of remorse for the safety of others is disgusting. They expect you to have a spine and take assaults, threats, and endangerment to your own life. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
I hope you never actually come knocking on my door looking for a bloody donation
I asked for help numerous times and got told im sorry we cant help you
Funny that you have no hassle accepting the $250,000
My late father donated to you in his will and we got nothing but a brass razoo
Scum bags
What a joke. They do not take care of their employees. Store 2 has lost such a great team do due higher ups are so power hungry. Our dearest friend got murdered And they wouldn't even allow us to put a donation bin out for her cremation. She dedicated almost 10 years and they treated her like she's just a number. We had a great team and because someone wanted to steal they blamed the whole crew and fired them. Gary and Tammy are narcissistic manipulative liers and push you until you brake. Then they laugh and write you up.
The program to help addicts is a great program but working for them is a joke.
Most charities are out of touch but none more so then the Salvos.
Practice what you preach.
Turned down for a food voucher because ive got a cpl before... i need them im desperate then they ask dumb question like when do you get paid not about what are your circumstances.
Ill never deal with these vermin again
I scheduled gently used furniture pickup in order to make way for new furniture coming in. The pickup was scheduled a day before the new furniture arrived. The pickup crew came and started to look at each of the furniture pieces under a microscope - a few spots here and there are to be expected on used furniture but it was unacceptable to them. There were many pieces I was donating (several leather sofas and chairs - all in great condition and expensive) but unacceptable to them. They took pictures, send to the office, called the supervisor who rattled off a bunch of canned lines (we do not accept any furniture with any spots, we don't climb stairs that are spiral and more than 13 steps, etc. etc.). The pickup crew was extremely rude and as I was trying to understand their rationale of declining the pickup and what sort of predicament this was putting me in, they kept on saying "Like I told you..."
This was such a disappointing experience, that I asked them to leave my home. I had the option to sell these items, but I chose to donate thinking it would help someone in need but not only did Salvation Army cause me angst and disappointment, they also denied someone needy and less fortunate an opportunity to use my furniture.
Never again will I call these guys and they are never getting a penny from me ever again - truly terrible experience!
Tip for consumers:
DO NOT EVER USE SALVATION ARMY - THEY ARE THUGS!
I schedule a pick up for futon couches, I know there is a no rip, stain or tear policy. The futons were fairly new, it did have small tears that I repaired, the driver said even if the tear is repaired it cannot be taken. I accepted it and thanked them, but the driver just felt the need to continuously insult me saying, "Oh you really tried, and let me see the other one your repaired just for laughs" and "I hope you are moving into a house" they wouldn't stop until I just cut them off and said thank you for your service, I apologize that you all had to make this trip, take care and drive safe. " Their behavior was so disgusting and unnecessary.
I made a schedule to pick up with them today. I cancelled in a last second mistakenly and called them back to fix it. They said okay but they did not do anything about it. They lied yo give me dispatcher number and extension also. I already saw the driver and spoke with them to get the building and he was so rude. I thought they are coming hut they dud not. I made several phone calls and they were now saying we can not take your item because you are rude yo driver which is totally lie. Also they transfer me to someone says we can not reschedule to you and we don't take any hospital items. There was a list on my order shows everything what I have but they changed their mind suddenly. Please don't bother yourself to waste your time and get stressful to deal with them. They don't care anything about what you are going through. They are just useless and very bad. Put your item to the garbage or give away for free to anyone. It is better.

I like the Salvation Army in my area but this week I was very disappointed with the situation I got into. I bought a jacket and the zipper was broken in two places, when I got home I wasn't able to close the zipper, I want back, they said the sale is final, I ask if I can get a store credit and that was a "no".
First of all why do they not accept returns?
Goodwill gives you 10 days ( if I'm not mistaking) to return since they realize the item might be broken and the person didn't notice or any other reason.
Came in for the second time in two days to speak with the manager, I get the manager, she says I'm not the manager, " the boss " who she calls her manager in "not in", why then when I asked for the manager they send you, I didn't ask for a worker, and she can't help me since she might get fired, sounds like a lie to me, if your manager is not in and he left you in charge you are the manager for that time, but instead she's being rude, tell me the jacket work and tells me not to come in asking for a return or store credit.
Very disappointed in "The Salvation Army " management team.
