After a couple more years, still mostly positive, some sadness
November 1, 2021

I feel it's time to update my previous Rosegal review. It's been another couple of years, and I've now placed over 20 orders. Overall, my experience is still positive enough for me to keep coming back (I placed another order I probably didn't really need just minutes ago). I've had a few unfortunate experiences as well as unexpectedly great ones.

So, first, the cons:

Deceptive practices:
1. Don't trust the reviews on their site - I've noticed that they do actively remove any less than 4 stars. Plus they offer steep loyalty rewards for reviews so receive many to choose from. I do appreciate and check for reviews with photos though - they can be really helpful for seeing how items translate in person.
2. Two items that I received were very different from the images. Enough to appear to be bad cheap knock-offs of what was shown. Unfortunately they were items I was super excited about. One I returned with no issues, the other I kept as I had a flash of inspiration for using the material.

Quality/QC:
3. I think they changed suppliers or started outsourcing more. There was a period of time where I received a higher number of items that just weren't great (probably 1 in 3). It's better now, but I'm not positive whether that's because it's improved overall or because I've gotten better at spotting things that will or won't look good in real life.
4. A few sweaters I've ordered have stretched or otherwise lost shape since ordering (out of many).
5. The 2 or 3 belts I've ordered suck. Anything fake leather has peeled or crumbled after a few uses.
6. There have been a couple of odd items: a skirt that came with a several-sizes-smaller belt (definitely couldn't be worn together no matter what size you are), and a baffling negligee that had a small, fitted waist - no stretch - and no fastener (zipper or hook), so it was physically impossible to put on.
7. Another shirt I received had a quality issue with a missing button and an incomplete button hole (but customer service immediately offered me a full refund on it; and it's one of the ones I mention below that I otherwise loved so much I ordered it in 3 other colours, all of which were perfect on arrival).

I've successfully returned things twice, though once it took several tries to keep an agent engaged long enough.

So that's the bad. Overall, I still have a high batting average with them, and a very large portion of my wardrobe is Rosegal. I'm always happy with at least the majority of my orders. There is an element of "buy at risk" however, and I understand how people may have had a terrible experience with a small order and never trusted them again. Even the quality issues tend to be in line with the average mall chains (especially geared at young adults).

The positives:
1. I've hit gold on a few different items. Gorgeous, heavyweight fabric in well-cut, quality pieces. Often on sale for ~$10 and pieces that I'd expect to be in the $70-100 range (and that I wouldn't regret at that price). Every time I go back and order more in additional colours, and every time I'm happy I did. Brilliant.

2. Especially during the pandemic, I - like most people - have gotten accustomed to dressing for comfort. Soft, stretchy fabrics that don't constrain. I'm happy to say I have a lot of pieces like that now, and I can call in to work looking well put together and not at all like I'm schlepping around the house in clothes a bare step above pjs.

3. I've discovered new things - like Japanese-style eyelash curlers - that make a quality of life improvement. (Seriously - I stopped curling eyelashes at a pretty young age because of those stupid pinch points... the Japanese style is brilliant).

4. I've found some other random hard-to-find things - my absolute favorite vegetable peeler slides over a finger to rest against the palm of your hand, and everyone that sees it wants it - I've been scanning stores for years looking for more with no luck. Lo and behold, Rosegal had them for ~$1 or 2.

So, to summarize, Rosegal is pretty amazing if your expectations are in line. These are not top-quality boutique items - the "this-shirt-will-last-the-rest-of-your-life" price point and expectations. There are plenty of clothing items that I expect a lot from and wouldn't purchase there - like jeans (seriously, just buy really good jeans. It's worth it). These are items made on the cheap - and sold cheap. Some feel cheap in person while some look and feel amazing. The quality is in line with a lot of mall stores, but the cost is considerably lower. Most pieces that I have and frequently wear have held up very well to time, wash, and wear.

I'm trying to include images here that are both good and bad, but they're not fully representative.

Wrong items and BAD customer service
October 14, 2020

I am one of the lucky ones. I managed to get a refund after three weeks of constant back and forth correspondence via their ticketing system. I am lucky because I paid through PayPal. I CANNOT stress to you enough how important that is because I used that as leverage to get an outcome with them.

The facts of the case are that I ordered 10 beautiful items from their website for a grand total of $183.78. Most were dresses and I was very excited about it. I watched several youtube videos talking about the quality of the clothes, expectation vs reality, etc and decided it was an acceptable risk. Boy was I wrong!

When the package came I hurriedly opened it to reveal that they had sent me the wrong items. Not one item in the bag was even a close approximation of what I ordered. Most of the items were leggings, cut slit tops, two bathing suit tops, etc. I promptly tried to call them only to be told that this type of request had to be submitted via email. Glad I double checked that fact. I submitted two tickets, one via email and one online. The ONLY one that got any sort of response was the ticketing system submission.

I explained the issue, and uploaded a picture showing all of the items in their packaging with their QR codes. Something about the idea of opening them alarmed me because I figured they might try and deny my refund if I opened them. I then commenced in a multi-part verbal tennis match where they clearly didn't understand the issue and kept asking me what the issue was, what did I order, etc. Finally, I managed to convey the issue and they demanded pictures of each item, in detail, with the packaging codes, and a comparison of how they were different than the website. I spent an hour and a half carefully unpacking, snapping pictures, then PHOTOSHOPPING the pictures together with a screenshot of the closest item of my order. A caveat to this. Each attachment (pic) you send them has to be under 10 mb. In addition, each submission can only have three attachments. I therefore had to downsize any items over 10 mb, and had to do 4 upload messages to be sure they had all of the pictures. I told them I uploaded everything and said I wanted a response by a particular date. I wanted to know if they wanted everything back or what.

The customer service agent responded about an hour later and said that they were sorry for the trouble and told me I could keep the items. They offered me three solutions: 1- Send me my original order free of charge. 2- A $179.20 refund to my original payment method. 3- A store credit refund of $179.20 plus points.

With my faith in this company completely shattered I opted for option 2, the refund to PayPal. I was happy enough with the outcome. Sure, I had no use for the items and would likely donate them but at least I was going to get most of my money back... NOPE! The next day I was informed that management denied my refund and they wanted all of the items sent back to them. I had to ask them 3 times where to ship the items to and finally had to threaten them telling them I was going to open a PayPal dispute if they didn't tell me immediately.

So, to make it "easy" on me they told me to ship it to California. I did that and it cost me approximately $28.00 to do it. I sent all of the items, the original package, the original packing slip, and a PDF of my ticket correspondence. I sent everything to them. Then I uploaded a picture of the package with the label and tracking info to the ticket.

They replied with this "Dear Alyshia, Thank you for contacting us. We have received your information, please wait a bit, within 1-3 weeks and once the package has been received we will offer you the solution that has been planned. We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your understanding." Um... no. I would not be waiting up to 3 weeks. I watched the tracking info on it and told them when it arrived and they said my refund was under review. I just saw that I got the refund in PayPal. Effectively I got a refund for $151.20 which is 82% of what I paid. This was a terrible experience and I want everyone to know it. Thank goodness I read all of the fine print and know how to photoshop pictures together or else I would still be arguing back and forth with them. I'm so disgusted. I hope that this review helps anyone else out there to get their money back. I would upload all of my photos but this site only allows 5 mb uploads and I'm not downsizing any more photos. Also, to those people who can't get the refund because they didn't pay through PayPal just open a dispute with your credit card company. Easier to deal with it that way and at least you will get all of your money back.

Worst service I have ever received - DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.
June 12, 2020

This is a follow up on the review I made early in May (noted below this update). To summarize DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. After I wrote my earlier review Rosegal asked me if I wanted a refund. I responded yes as I requested one numerous times before. On May 9th they replied with "We are now arranging your refund of 79.58USD. Please allow 7 to 14 working days for the transaction to appear in your credit card account." They also asked me to notify them when the original order arrives. Note: The shipping information remains unchanged since May 4th as proof it never left them. On business day 15 I contacted my credit card to ascertain whether a credit appeared. Of course, nothing had come from Rosegal. They also have not responded to the inquiry made by my credit card on my behalf. I wrote to Rosegal on the 15th business day to state the funds had not been returned. I get a response stating that they sent the funds to my card on May 8th, one day before they asked me if I wanted a refund, obviously a blatant lie. I have since spoken to some people who have ordered from Rosegal in the past and their stories are all similar. They never receive their order and they must repeatedly contact them. As a side note, they had the outright gall to include this in their response, "If you were pleased with the outcome, would you please consider updating or deleting your review on sitejabber.com?" DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM ROSEGAL unless you like being ripped off.

On April 17th I made an order and received an e-mail on the 21st stating it was shipped. When reading the e-mail, the following is what was stated, "The package should normally take business days for normal country to arrive (approximately)." I contacted ROSEGAL and asked how many since the mail just said normally take business days without a number. The individual stated 5 - 10 which I thought was fair. I checked the site for tracking after a few days and there was no movement. When I contacted ROSEGAL again they said 15 -25 days. Since the package appeared to have never truly left, I asked them to cancel. They said they couldn't. Days later they claimed to have reshipped but now based on the dates it is 30-45 days from the original order that I asked them to cancel. Every note to customer service has the same answer but never a resolution. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM.

You'd be better spent throwing your money down into a dark, uncaring, bottomless pit.
July 20, 2019

I've never once, in my life, left a negative review for customer service. "Be patient, they're trying their best," I tell myself. "They have a difficult job, don't make it harder for them," I say. Well today that unending patience ran out thanks to the kind folks at Rosegal.

I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that attempting to carry on what was supposed to be a simple conversation with the Rosegal team has proven to be the worst experience I've ever had in customer service.

What could have been a brief and inconsequential exchange of information- "Actually, could I get that in a different color?" "Sure thing, no problem!" was instead a Sisyphean effort of receiving miscommunications on Rosegal's end, me steering the conversation towards productivity, and them outright refusing to be of any kind of feasible help.

In response to a simple request, I was ignored, I received a litany of automatically generated responses that couldn't possibly be of any real assistance, and when they did bother to respond to me, they were inattentive, duplicitous, and uncompromising. I may be wrong, and I know I'm not, but I don't think it should take what is by my count 40 discreet exchanges over almost a month to settle a matter this simple.

And if the blatant disregard for customer satisfaction or even just productive conversation weren't enough, Rosegal decided to add insult to injury. For all my efforts, for all the the grief they caused, they mustered up the kindness in their hearts to offer me 57 whole Rosegal points to be applied to my account. And for those unaware of the Rosegal economy's exchange rate, 57 RGP equates to $1.14. A single United States dollar. And fourteen American cents. When I informed them that this is in fact an insult to me as a consumer and person in general, they let me know that the offer could be taken or left, thank you and goodbye, can't wait to see you later at Rosegal.com.

Rosegal either doesn't care about its customers, or their sheer ineptitude prevents them from conducting what even the most generous could call a respectable business. I caution anyone against giving Rosegal a single dime, unless you possess deep within you the desire to verbally wrestle with a rep whose unabashed apathy rivals only that of the incessant customer service AI. You'd be better spent throwing your money down into a dark, uncaring, bottomless pit that also had the ability to punch you in the boob.

Thanks again! See you later at Rosegal.com!
