I love that they have finally taken a stand against bullying and hate. It made many of the groups unfriendly for so many people, and not a good environment for fostering learning and enrichment. Now I'm more likely to go and get involved in some of the groups. And their pattern database and organization system is stellar!

Ravelry no longer accepts Trump projects or supporters EXCEPT if you make projects that say "$#*! Trump" or pin cushions with Trumps head. A "no hate" platform has become quite a divided space and ridiculous. Ravelry made a political stance based off untrue statements, it's disturbing that yet another platform takes a side and causes more division.

Just plain awesome!
July 14, 2019

I have used Ravelry for years for inspiration, patterns, yarn info and help with some thought knitting issues. Ravelry and it's members always comes through. I am a better knitter because of this site!

Sad, sad business
July 13, 2019

I am disappointed in Ravelry. After ten years of membership I have deleted my account due to the hateful attitude embraced by the owners and a great many of the members.

I am also curious that earlier today there were more negative reviews of Ravelry on THIS site than there are now. I wonder how the National Science Foundation who has partially funded sitejabber would feel?

I love Ravelry!
July 14, 2019

Once a knitter joins the Ravelry community, then they are really a knitter! I am so very proud to be a member of Ravelry. There is nothing you can't find, with respect to knitting patterns, no matter how unique. Unless you are the kind of knitter who knits the same patterns over, and over (eg dishcloths, baby blankets, plain hat), you need Ravelry! Ravelry is a wonderful company. I feel completely safe spending time on the Ravelry website, because there is no hate, no discrimination of any kind. All knitters are welcome!

So disappointed
July 15, 2019

I spent a lot of time on Ravelry, organizing my stash, patterns, and projects. The way the site is set up is perfect for the any fiber enthusiast. Just DO NOT mention that you (gasp) support President Trump. You will automatically be labeled a white supremacist and shown the door. I got a copy of all my data and got out.

Good Job, Ravelry
July 17, 2019

It's all political, and Ravelry has decided to take a clear stand on evil. Good job. I am also a white American, and couldn't be more thrilled about Ravelry's statement.

Also, they're packed full of patterns. Best fiber arts database ever.

I fell in love with this little magical place on the internet known as Ravelry long before they hit their first million Ravelers. It's always been an amazing community that stands behind the goodness in humanity and I'm happy to be a part of it!

Ravelry has revolutionized the knitting and crocheting community. It is constantly being improved and made easier to use. Thousands of patterns, friendly, helpful people, yarn reviews, pattern notes, and so much more. No other site compares.

Disappointing
July 25, 2019

Ravelry is a knitting site whose monopoly makes them think they can call half the voters in the US white supremacists and still consider themselves inclusive. I for one deleted my account after 11 years of daily use. Such blanket statements reek of bigotry. So disappointing.

Fantastic site!
July 14, 2019

I've been a Rav member for years and it's been the best hobby site I've ever joined. The forums are full of people who will gladly help when you're stuck or share tips and different methods you may never have heard of. It's also fantastic for a vintage pattern nerd like myself to keep my vast collection arranged for easier access. I just wish there was a sewing version!

All the people complaining are just crying bitter tears because Ravelry refuses to support white supremacy or allow it on its site. Previously these 1 star reviewers loved the site, until people were banned for doxxing members.

No longer
July 15, 2019

I wasn't aware that by the way I crochet something I am a white supremacist. Where do you get off dictating how I vote. I don't need your website and will no longer use it. So much for all inclusive left. Way to divide every aspect of society.

I've been a member since 2007, and I have honestly not ONCE come across a better knitting resource. From the pattern database, the interface to purchase patterns, the ability to create stashes, showcase finished products? It's all amazing.

Now, the staff... I cannot speak highly enough. The small group of people keeping this shining gem of a website going are truly incomparable. They are inclusive, welcome, loving, and truly outstanding human beings. That they take the time to make sure that the environment is not filled with hatred and cruelty is just another testament to their character.

I've never gotten into the politics while crocheting but your new policy calls me a white supremacist. You say this only because I support the commander in chief of our great country. People like you are dividing this country even more. Only support for President Trump is banned the negative ****trump hat pattern along with others are still there. Your inclusion policy is only inclusive to those that think the way you do. How is that inclusive? I can find patterns on plenty of other sites and not be called names.

You ruined your site with politics and division crafting is a relaxing hobby yet you've made it into a screaming drama. Shame on you

I love this site for making it easy for me to connect with others and share our love the fiber world available to us. I have discovered many creative designers and yarn providers over the years. I have made friends locally and far away by the friend finder. I love the community I have found there and the database is great for storing my designs and patterns. It's my go-to!

I spent 10 years on this site happily purchasing patterns never once thinking about the politics of the designer until the terrible day that it was announced by the founder that if you support or voted for President Trump, you are a white supremacist. But hey, as long as you don't create any pro-Trump patterns, you don't talk about your support for him, and you don't step on the tiny feelings of the truly 'inclusive' thinking folks, you will be allowed to stay. They are hypocrites! Bigots! Un-American! People are leaving in droves. I hope they enjoy their echo chamber populated by virtue signaling automatons. Goodbye Ravelry!

I've used Ravelry for many years, as a place to improve my knitting and crochet skills, to learn spinning techinques, to find patterns, reviews on yarn, and information about vendors. I have also made many dear friends over the years, as the forums allow groups for other interests - such as chicken raising, vegan cooking, and local groups. I originally joined to participate in a sock knitting competition (SockWars), and it's become my favorite online destination. The databases work very well, and are easy to use even for members who are not data gurus. I attached a pic of a sweater I knit from a pattern I found on Ravelry (free, knitting, seamless, baby, and worsted were my search filters).

I joined Ravelry when I first started knitting. Found great patterns and learned a lot by viewing projects. Stepped away for a couple of years and came back to find it had become political. I found that the owners of Ravelry label all Trump supporters as white supremacist.

Wait a minute. I'm black. I support Trump.

While I never participated in the forums I found their statement incredibly one sided:
You can still participate if you do in fact support the administration, you just can't talk about it here.

Especially, since it is unbalanced in continuing to allow hateful patterns in regards to Trump to remain, but thanks for allowing me to remain. I had nothing to say in forums, but the idea that a craft site would silence one side of ANY issue was appalling.

Either ban all politics or ban none.

Luckily I found lovecrafts.com.

Because of discrimination, I no longer chose to use this site. The leadership chose to divide a community that once got along about all things fiber arts. Not any more. Call me what you will but I do not hate no matter who I vote for. I do not accept intolerance in my life and respect views of all, even if I don't agree with them. The leadership at this site do not accept all.
