The Chagrin Blvd location in Cleveland Ohio was one of the worst experiences of my life. Two days prior I bought a cute dress for $9.99. When I got home I removed the tag and tried the dress on assuming it fit me, but it didn't fit at all. Remember the dressing rooms are still closed due to covid so you can't try anything on in store. Two days later I planned on doing a big summer haul at Rainbow at that point I would also return the $9.99 dress. The cashier was immediately combative in not wanting to except my refund due to the tag being removed, but I pointed out to her that I had the tag with me it was just simply removed. She still being combative and condescending did not want to issue the refund. She said we can ask the manager to who her surprise agreed with me that I am due a refund. She said the tag being removed is a simple fix that they can easily put the tag back on. More importantly was the fact that I had the receipt and the dress was purchased just two days prior so they should issue my refund. I believe this bruised the young woman's ego as she was expecting the Manager to agree with her. This woman had a very very condescending attitude towards me even when she was speaking to the Manager I tried to explain how I had the tag with me and the young girl raised her hand up as if to say "talk to the hand" because she too was speaking with the Manager. So already her tone was extremely arrogant and condescending toward me.
Next I began my huge haul that took almost two hours of shopping. From picking out clothes to standing in the mirror along with other women having to literally put clothes over are own clothes to see if they would fit, since the store has not reopened the changing rooms. As you can imagine this was extremely frustrating. So after two hours of this I was finally finished and ready to cash out. The only cashier available was the woman I had trouble with earlier. She began ringing up all the items which was extremely time consuming because I had roughly $500 worth of clothing. I had dresses, shorts, pants, jewelry etc. that took up most of the counter space. As she began to ring up one blouse in particular she noticed it did not have a tag. She asked if I could pick out another one that might have the tag on it. To my surprise none of them had a tag and I took a few to her to show her. She then asked if I got these blouses off of a rack because if they weren't tagged they probably weren't supposed to have been put up yet. I told her they were on the rack. She then said well "If there is no tag I cannot sell it to you" I really wanted the blouse it was one of the few items in my haul that really stood out to me. So I said can we ask the Manager we spoke to earlier if she can find out what the price is because I really want this. She calls the Manager over and starts being difficult again exclaiming how she can't sell it to me. Then I asked if she wouldn't mind seeing what the price is. The Manager walked over and also didn't see a tag so she picked out another top on the same rack, similar style and told her to ring it up for that price. To which the confrontational casher replied " I don't want to do that" At this point I am now furious. What do you mean YOU don't want to do that? Your superior gave you an instruction you have to do it. So I got mad and told the woman "Look you have been confrontational with me ever since I walked in here earlier to return the $9.99 dress. You are just looking for a reason to be combative towards me. So I tell you what since you don't want to ring up the other blouse, I don't want to spend the $500 I was planning on spending how about that. To which she replied "fine, cool" So I said you are going to let a blouse that is worth roughly $25 to stop the store from receiving $500 in revenue? She says "that's just fine" So to wrap this all up this woman allowed a $500 ticket to leave the store in the middle of a recession over a $25 blouse and her ego! Asinine and I want her fired!
Staff will give you horrible treatment and do not appreciate your business!
I ended up getting nothing. The woman let a $500 ticket leave the store due to her ego!
I'm disabled so getting out for me isn't always easy that's why I do 100% of my shopping online several times per week. Upon attempting to return online purchases at a Rainbow shop location the manager insisted that their store had a 7-day return policy should customer want cash payment and that my only option was in-store credit. I told her that wasn't true, that it's a 30-day return policy and that I don't want cash but for my credit card to be refunded. She refused, I left and the following day I called customer service. Customer Service stated that the manager was incorrect and that she herself hates when the store employees give out wrong information and she apologized to me for the clerk/manager's actions. Customer Service then instructed me to return to the store, explain the return policy to the manager and show the manager the back of my order slips that detailed their policy; also the representative instructed me to call Customer Service department back while in store should the manager continue to refuse to accept return under the correct policy.
So, I returned a couple of days later and instructed my son to record the interaction because I felt that the manager was going to give me a hard time and I knew that if I was being recorded as well that I would control responding negatively according to the manager's disrespectful attitude and behavior. Needless to say, the same manager gave me the same response, I told her she was incorrect and showed her the return policy on the back of my order form and she still insisted that she was right, that she's been telling customers about the return policy there for a long time and that even on the back of their receipts printed out after purchases that the return policy states "7-days". I said to her that just because the receipts states that, that doesn't mean it's correct information and that I'm going to call customer service so that she can hear/speak with them and she replied, "Go ahead but it's not going to make a difference or change anything."
I called customer service and as I explained the situation the manager leaves the counter as if she didn't want to hear what the representative had to say about the return policy. The manager then reacts to my son recording the incident by saying: Oh, he's recording me! He's recording me! Who does that!
I replied, "Who gives out incorrect information?" She then tells my son to stop recording and we refused so she instructed another employee to call security on my son. By this time several more employees surround the checkout counter, a few of which kept interjecting while the customer service rep on my speaker phone gave the store policy. The manager continues to respond negatively to my son and he respond back to her that he wasn't doing anything wrong nor being disrespectful and that she was acting a little bit extra. She then was told by another employee to go to the back and calm down. Another older employee asked my son to walk away with them and I instructed my son to stay by my side.
Another older employee whom stood by the counter beside me the entire time thought it was necessary to chastise our 20yr old son by telling him that he shouldn't have been disrespectful to the manager because she has sons too and that Black young men are getting into trouble, etc. I ask how was he being disrespectful because he didn't curse nor call her names? The lady contined to talk, not answering my question so I asked twice exactly what did he say that was disrespectful? She never responded even when our son asked her the same question; instead she continued to chastise him.
They still refused to acknowledge the customer service rep nor the policy on the back of my order form, telling me to come back a THIRD TIME when the District Manager would be available! I refused whilst the customer service rep continued to explain over and over Rainbow's return policy. Finally an employee called the District Manager, placed her on the speaker phone and the District Manager reiterated THREE times EXACTLY what the customer service rep and I both explained to them several times.
Needless to say, another manager came from another store at the shopping complex and refunded my card accordingly. There was this employee named Ashley whom were courteous to me the entire time we were there (about 20-25min). Ashley apologized several times while the manager that was rude NEVER apologized nor acknowledged she was wrong about the return policy. She was more concerned about the video being placed on social media and about being right rather than providing exceptional customer service.
I've never experienced anything like this whenever I've made business or consumer transactions. This was an awful, unprofessional, unforgettable experience in which I hope to never experience again.
Be sure to read the return policy on the packing slip/order form. When in doubt call customer service. When you're right and you have proof that the employees are wrong, be persistent and stand firm. It's your right to be treated fairly and there's nothing wrong with correcting anyone that misinforms you.
Blouses.
I went into your store and found about 10 dresses I liked. Wasn't sure on what size to pick since they looked like they may run small. So, I picked two sizes. I found your dressing rooms locked. I asked Operator 1751CC (who would not give me her name) to please unlock a dressing room door. She replied with " I can't. Store policy because of COVID, dressing rooms are still not open. My reply was, ALL other stores I have been in have their dressing room open. Her response, is Corporate says no.
I then asked her what the return policy is and she said it was 7 days to return. I was not happy with that since I wouldn't be able to come to your store for a couple of weeks. With that, I chose 4 dresses from the 10 dresses I wanted to purchase. 2 in one size and 2 in a larger size in the hopes that one of the sizes would fit me. I purchased the items with Operator 1751CC, who had quite a chip on her shoulder. (A friend of mine was with me and noted to me her "I don't want to be here attitude".) Anyway, with knowing that ALL of the other stores I frequent when I shop have their dressing rooms open, I took my purchase to another store, and tried them on in their dressing room. To my utter dismay, the dresses I chose were way too small even though I chose larger sizes.
My friend and I enjoyed some time browsing other stores in the Plaza before we headed back to your store so I could return ALL the dresses I purchased. Operator 1751CC was behind the counter and ROLLED her eyes at the sight of me approaching. She DID NOT, at any point acknowledge me, or ask what she could do for me. I then told her I was returning my purchases. She said nothing. She then hands me a small, photo copied piece of paper, to fill out with my private information. Such as name, address, phone number and email. I expressed to her that I just purchased these and was not comfortable in providing this information on a piece of paper that anyone can see, since it's my information. Her response was, it's store policy for The Return Report. I said I would be happy to just verbally tell her so she can type it into the computer. She said nothing and went to, who I thought was her supervisor. This individual came to me and said the same thing. I needed to fill it out. Reluctantly, I did. In the process of doing so, I commented that I would not be shopping at this store and will advise my friends of the same since shopping is not a pleasure there. No dressing rooms and a small window of time to return makes it difficult for working people. As she is typing my information, her response was to "STOP WHAT SHE WAS DOING, CLAP HER HANDS, AND say THANK GOD FOR THAT". I was taken aback by this and asked her what that reaction and comment was for. She said, "BECAUSE YOU WON'T BE SHOPPING HERE AGAIN". Needless to say I was shocked by this ABUSE and CUSTOMER DISRESPECT. I then asked to speak to the manager. Assuming the other girl was the manager, guess she was not. Operator 1751CC said SHE WAS A MANAGER. That statement nearly knocked me to the floor.
I will tell you, that if I owned a quant little shop like Rainbow, I would FIRE HER ASSETS! DOES CORPORATE TRAIN THEIR STAFF ON CUSTOMER RELATIONS IN HOW TO TREAT A POTENTIAL BUYER? There were several shoppers in the store that witnessed this incident, and some actually left the store. Others seemed to be in disbelief. I don't know if they stayed and purchased anything, but I did inform some that you can't try on clothes and to return items you only have 7 days otherwise you get a store credit that you most likely won't use if you have to deal with Operator 1751CC.
I would like to know that this incident is going on file and Operator 1751CC is reprimanded for "Customer Abuse and Disrespect". Until I receive a response and an apology from your company, myself and my shopping buddy will never step foot through those doors again. We will also give a poor rating to our fellow shop-a- holics to go to Rainbow. Also, we are both prepared to report this incident to the BBB if I do not hear back from you. I expect a response ASAP, like your return policy.

So I had one of the most horrible experience in customer service history. So I bought a pair of shoes at Rainbow Shops in Jamaica Centre Queens the other day along with some other clothing items. This was on the 20th of August 2018. Since then I did not look back at the shoes until yesterday August 30th 2018 when I decided to show it to my mother. When I took the shoes out of the bag I realised that there were two different size shoes in the bag and two left feet. Now upon realising this error I immediately started calling the *******@Rainbow Shop to ask if I can exchange the wrong size shoe. Now go back to the day I bought the shoes, when I paid for the shoes I took them from out of the box and gave the box to the cashier. Before I bought the shoes I had searched for the size 9 shoes box and tried one shoe from the pair. I had no idea that a size 8 shoes would be in a size 9 shoes box(yes I know, my bad). Now fast forward to yesterday when I was calling *******@Rainbow Shops close by to do the exchange. They all said I had to have the shoes box to do the exchange there and if I want to do an exchange without the shoes box I would have to bring it to the original store where I had bought the shoes. So I said fine I have the receipt plus the shoes, no big deal right? Absolutely not, when I arrived at the original store with the shoes and the receipt I explained to the cashier the situation and she directed me to the store manager. I walked up to the store manager greeted him and asked if he's the manager. He said yes then I began telling him the situation. He then told me I don't have the box so he can't do anything to help me. I then continued the conversation by saying that I have a pair of shoes with two different sizes there is nothing I can do with them because I won't be able to wear them. He then said to follow him to the shoes section downstairs. My step father and I followed him down stairs where the shoes section was. Bear in mind also from the intial conversation he had a very bad attitude. I sensed that from the beginning of the conversation but I kept my cool because I did not want the situation to get out of hand. While he was looking for the shoes I was there looking with him but apparently he did not want my help he kept giving me an attitude that was unbecoming and rude. He could not find the other size 9 and 8 shoes. So that got him even more pissed and it was quite obvious. He was so rude to the point where my step father had to step in and told him that I have the receipt and the shoes so there should not be an issue. People in the store kept looking because he was talking on top of his voice and being very rude. When he finally decided to give me the correct size shoes I said to the sales representative he handed the shoes to that I wanted to try them on before leaving the store(for my peace of mind). The store manager started shouting "No I can't let you do that I shouldn't even be giving you the shoes anyways!". At that point I thought I was dreaming I could not believe this man was being so disrespectful to a customer who had recently bought things at his store. My step father then started arguing with him because at that point he was extremely disrespectful to me. I had to ask him why was he speaking to me in that manner and told him that he is being really disrespectful. I was even more shocked by the fact that he has the audacity to say that he should not be giving me something that belongs to me since I paid for it. Apparently I went there begging the store manager a pair of shoes. I had no prior encounter with this man for him to treat me in such a manner. So of course I will never shop *******@Rainbow Shops again they will never get my 2 cents again. I would rather wear crocus bags. If this is how he treats a customer I really would not like to know how he treats his staff. #RainbowShops #horriblecustomerservice
I order a plus size polka dot maxi skirt from rainbow on Tuesday, 2/6/18, and on Wednesday, 2/14/18, I received the skirt, however it was the wrong skirt not what I ordered didnt match - at all - the skirts the other nine (9) ladies ordered and received! The skirt didnt match the picture on the site and didnt match the picture on neither of the two online confirmation emails you receive after ordering. You can clearly see it is the wrong skirt!
On 2/17/18 I placed the order again - on the advisement of the cuctomer service person - and mind you, I was on the phone with her for WELL OVER AN HOUR making sure that I would receive the correct item. I read and re-read numbers to her sku number, order number, style number, etc - from my order form, my daughters order form, the tags on the wrong skirt, tags on the correct skirt (my daughter ordered and received the correct skirt - the same exact size as the one I ordered) Emails were supposedly sent to her immediate supervisor, and the packaging supervisors to ensure I receive the correct item. The lady on the phone reiterated that she sent emails to her supervisor and the packaging supervisors plural! I explained to her several times that I needed the correct skirt for March 4th and I was assured I would have receive it well before then. Hold that thought!
On Friday, 2/23/18, I received the item and AGAIN it was the WRONG SKIRT. In fact, it was the same skirt I received on 2/14/18. So now I have two skirts that are the exact same skirt AND NEITHER ONE IS WHAT I ORDERED. I immedately called Rainbow and was on hold waiting on a supervisor for 1 hour and 23 minutes. I hung up and called back and had to wait 38 minutes before someone answered and I was told that there is nothing that can be done but a refund processed, because they cannot guarantee that I would receive the correct item this time - even if I ordered the correct item again.
I asked if there was a way to find out if this skirt was in stores and I was told by the customer service rep that I would have to call Rainbow stores near me to see if the skirt in stock because their system was not set up to do so. I was told to call and give them a sku number and they would be able to tell me if the item was in stock. OKAY! I spent HOURS Friday night calling one Rainbow store in Houston after another (I live 80 miles from Houston) - I called more stores on Saturday morning. I was talked to in a VERY rude manner by several store associates and one even hung the phone up in my face while I was in mid-sentence. One store associate flat out refused and said NO I WONT when I asked her in a very polite manner - if she would take a sku number for an item to see if it is in stock!
No help there, not one of the twenty (20+) stores I called had this skirt in stock! I again called Rainbow Customer Service and was told and I quote, "There is nothing we can do, but process a refund. I was also told and I quote, You should not have placed the 2nd order on the 17th due to the first one being incorrect."
Nine (9) other ladies - (All Choir members at the same Church) have ordered this exact skirt and 3 of them have order the same size I ordered and all nine of them received the correct skirt. I needed the skirt for March 4,2018, but I have the wrong one and I received the wrong skirt - TWICE!
This is my first time ordering from Rainbow Shops - not pleasant! NEVER AGAIN will I order from or shop at rainbow!
