Informative, fast to get info. I'm used this data only for general observation. As much such wonderful sources will exist - the better world we will have.
Don't know where they get the information from which seems to be very much inaccurate. Their story in ladbible indicate that the city of Bradford has highest rate of crime in Europe. This is laughable, I have been living and working in this city for 25 years and I can tell it is very much safe city to live and work. Even the cities superintendent questions the figures. I would never recommend Numbeo for your source of information.

I read several publications by them and I noticed that they are unprofessional-biased, inaccurate and at times, with distinct Serbian nationalist views (guess lack of accuracy shouldn't come as a surprise)!
After living for more than 10 years in Zurich, Switzerland, in November 2016 I had to move to Belgrade, Serbia for professional reasons. As part of my relocation package and salary adjustment, I have started to investigate the living costs in Belgrade and came across Numbeo.com. Now after almost 12 months in Serbia, I can just say that all information I have gathered back then and took into my calculation were 100% true, sometimes too true :)
It's easily manipulated by any other people who hate other countries
There's literally controversies surrounding this
The creator of Numbeo had a good idea making that website but I can tell most of the information about crimes rates are not accurate, basically anybody can rate any city however they want and for personal interests it ends up being fake.
For example, a few touristic companies from my hometown Romania have been rating cities like Bucharest, Craiova or Constanza as very safe and safer than cities in Western Europe just to gain tourism, and after talking to some of them tourists I met online almost half of them tell me that they have been mugged in Bucharest or Constanza, some of them told me they didn't expect such thing (since they checked Numbeo first). Look, I've been in Bucharest and it's not a very dangerous city and it's probably safer than Paris or London, but come on, "problems such as armed assault: VERY LOW?" are you kidding me? Or crime in Craiova or Constanza or Ploiești low? This is just not accurate and very bad for our tourists since they will get very disgusted when they see the reality, I love my country and I wish those datas where true, but i'm more realistic than anything.
And this is not only unaccurate in Romania, it's most of the countries, according to Numbeo, Belarus is the most dangerous country in Europe? Really? Belarus? There's even anything worthy you can rob there? And more lies like for example Coventry and Bradford being more dangerous than Birmingham and Manchester, or Italy being safer than the UK or Sweden, or Valencia being one of the safest cities in the world, I have been mugged and assaulted countless times in Eastern Valencia in only 2 years and other friends got robbed multiple times as well so no, the crime rate in Valencia is not "very low" which is what Numbeo indicates.
I have also lived during 6 months in Casablanca and Tangier, Morocco and I have felt much safer than in Spain or my home country even though I didn't speak the local language and neither knew nobody, still according to Numbeo, cities like Barcelona or Malaga are safer than Casablanca, it's just impossible.
The only continent where the data is mostly accurate is South America which is where I traveled for the last 3 years, Venezuela and Argentina seemed for me the most dangerous by far, especially Caracas and Rosario, other countries like Colombia, Uruguay or Ecuador where very nice and I didn't have a problem not even in big cities like Guayaquil or Bogotá.
But hey, great job, it could be a very helpful website but in fact it ended up being the opposite, hope my review helped you guys, I feel very bad for the tourists or the statesmen who get wrong information from here.
Keep travelling and have a great day
It has a lot of info and you think this is going to be a good website, but it's not. This website has the most unrealistic information, basically it's just people taking survey and deciding if the (health whatever information) is good or not. Don't use it.
I have been to many countries, and there figures are not correct. About 30% are correct, but the rest are just too far from the truth. Do not base any decisions on this website, you could make a very bad decision. Also, I am trying to submit this review, but it is not working, maybe not enough characters? Seems to be a good scam site, extremely difficult to post a review. I persevered as I hate scammer $#*!s.
DAVE.
I have found this site very accurate. I used it first time a few years ago when I decided to move to Ireland, and again when we moved to Switzerland last year. It helped us to decide where to live. After a few months of living here, I compared some prices in the city with the information on the site. I have found zero mistakes. I still use it very often when traveling around Europe as it is very reliable. Great job guys!
A year ago I wanted to move in Germany and I have started using Nubmeo in that time actively. I could compare the cost of living with the city where I was previously working. Later I have found out that many recruiters were using Numbeo too, so we were easily on the same page during the salary negotiations.
I have tried similar websites but this one works the best for me. It has a minimalistic design but it has a lot of content in comparison with others. It seems that developers did a great job here and keep investing. It covers almost every city I could ever think about. I like additional tools like cost calculator and cost of living estimator.
Now when I spent almost a year in Berlin I see that all price ranges are very accurate. I hope that people will keep contributing to this website. Good job Numbeo!
This site thinks it's good to get anyone to rate your city in which they don't even live in. The site uses false and outdated information. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE ITS BAD.
Tip for consumers:
dumb site
I conducted an extensive comparison of Numbeo against other sources of data on costs of living in cities around the world. Numbeo had information on more cities than almost any other source. Many of its evaluations seemed accurate. Many others did not. Details at https://raywoodcockslatest.wordpress.com/2017/06/06/123-low-cost-cities/#Oxpat
I found Numbeo to be a great source of data when I was deciding to which city of Canada to move when I immigrate to this country. At first when I found out that cost of living is so much higher in Vancouver than in Toronto, I was a bit suspicious, but when I double-checked with friends of mine who already live there, it turned out to be all correct.
Very useful tool to estimate costs of living, but also to understand average salary.
I used it when I moved to Switzerland. Data are correct. Even for Switzerland where there are differences between cantons and towns.
It bases its crime indices on self-recruited visitors of the web site. That is NOT at all a reliable method to estimate anything. The complicated index calculation method created by the programmer-nerds that runs that site is questionable to put it mildly. I even spot a silly error in their published software, and that is why the "crime index" and "safety index" all sum up to 100, although that was not their intention. A very low crime rate in Timisoara, Romania? That is a laughably wrong result (I have been there).
Has more than 500 cities with data which looks very accurate. I've checked for my city and it looks about correct.
Price ranges are accurate and up to date, simple to use UI. Extremely helpful when moving to another city / state.
The collection of cost indices worldwide is a toy for children, not intended for serious assessments of reality!
Tip for consumers:
None
Surveys are already not a great source of informations, because people often lies in them.
To make thing worse, on this site the surveys are inaccurate and not verified at all. Basically, anyone could create multiple accounts and write false data on the site.
Numbeo is useless and harmful
Quite accurate, I've checked it for my city. I do use this website when recruiters approach me with job offers. Seems very useful.
Hi these data provided by numbeo guyd are pure fantasies. None relate to prices in the real market in any of the countries and cities mentioned on the site.
Numbeo.com draws a misinformed picture of the current state of affairs.
The site should be shut down.
I think this website can be dangerous to people who want to move to a new state, a new country or a new city. They may think the figures of numbeo are correct and they may discover that it is not.
So, numbeo mentions that we should not blindly follow their figures. But if this website is not accurate, what should it be used for?
I think people don't need such a website because there are many websites that offer you real prices of things like online supermarkets, gas price, utility price...
It takes more time to find this information but it is more accurate to find real prices on the internet than average prices.
If you want to know how much it costs somewhere, you can also find a blog where people tell their life story about their expenses. I found that even a blog that is 5 years old is more accurate than numbeo
