I looked into "handy person" liability insurance. Next seemed ok pricewise, but then I read the fine print. Essentially, most anything you might do that may require a permit isn't covered. Of course, without paying into licensing, you can't take out a permit, unless you own the building and that's about to go buh-bye too. So in California, Next wouldn't cover replacing a light switch, or tiling a bathroom, which begs the question, why am I paying for their insurance.
