We bought some outside lights which unfortunately was not compatible with the dimmer we used (Lutron). I had messaged Lighting NY. Melissa Mitchell was the Customer Care Advocate who responded to my email. She emailed the manufacturers and kept following up with me. She suggested that we contacted Lutron and even after that, she still followed up to make sure our issues were resolved. She also said we could return the items. We love the look of the fixtures so we just decided to keep them. I don't think I have had a customer service rep followed up consistently as she had. Usually I am the one who contacts companies and you may or may not hear from them. She is amazing! Bec of the attention to service of the customer service rep, we would def keep Lighting NY for future needs.

I used online chat and worked with Jeanmarie who was great at helping us with a price match. Great customer service and was done quickly. Looking forward to some great outdoor lighting we purchased for our home.
I found the lamp I wanted on another site but it was out of stock and back-ordered. I then found it at Lighting of New York and not only was it in stock, but it was less money - and then, they gave me a discount on top of that!

Navigation from the advertisement to the linked page to the product page to the correct size product page was not obvious. I had to look up the product on the manufacturer site, capture the product code for the correct product version and search for that on the LNY site. I almost purchased the wrong size.
Chat pop-up kept getting in the way. The 'x' to get rid of it should not require a hover over the unwanted prompt. The prompt should not get in the way of the purchase process. Chat is supposed to help, not annoy.
"LED lamping" was misleading. Had to drill down to the specs to confirm that the fixture has a standard medium/Edison socket for any bulb that meets the wattage / heat limitation.
Spent over $5,000 on lights & ceiling fans for new construction. Explained in advance that I would not be able to return within 30 days because the house is under construction in another state. I was assured "won't be a problem." LIES! When I needed to return 2 light fixtures worth $600 total in order to order 3 different lights worth over $600 -- and returned fixtures were in UNOPENED boxes -- they refused. I went to management -- no help. I AM SORRY THAT I GAVE THEM MY MONEY. RUN AWAY -- THEY LIE!
Two times over two weeks I spoke with reps at Lighting New York trying to order some track lighting they have for sale. Both times, despite the promise that they would find out what pieces were needed, no one ever got back with me. I guess they don't need more orders or more business.
Getting quotes for Northeast lantern onion light and Lighting New York gave me the highest quote and refused to match or beat my local lighting companies (yes, plural). I found three companies locally that gave me quotes for around 100$ Cheaper per light of the exact same light! Buyer beware, you can get better prices looking locally!

I ordered a in stock product and a month goes by before I received a bogus tracking number. Jannette confirmed my item would ship in 10 days max. Another week goes by and nothing is shipped, so I contact Lighting New York and they just blamed it on the manufacturer. Pay attention the other negative feedback before you purchase from here. I will never bother with this company again.

I purchased an exterior light though LightingNewYork on line. They never delivered it and never issued me a refund either. They still have my $240.00, I still have no light. When I called them to tell them I had not received it, their customer service representative called me a liar. (She didn't use that word, but she made her point anyway.) I would certainly not recommend you waste your time or money dealing with these people. I would NOT even give 1 star if the site would allow it.

I ordered 2 lamps from this site. When the first arrived, it was the same style lamp as the one pictured on the website but totally different colors. Customer service called the manufacturer and was told they don't make the lamp pictured on the website. I returned the lamp (interestingly enough, they still haven't changed the picture on their site). Two days later the second lamp arrived and it was altogether the wrong lamp. I called customer service again, and they offered to have the correct one sent, but I was pretty much done at this point. I sent that one back, too. While they received both returns, neither has been credited back to me. Waiting on that now, hoping it won't be a battle. I will never purchase from this site again.
Stay as far away from this "hide-and-seek/pass the buck" company as possible.
We got all of the headaches listed below, in two concurrent orders.
They're helpful until after your payment is processed and...
1. Your order arrives and it's defective and/or the wrong model/color...
2. After you get an "out of stock" e-mail 5 minutes after paying for a product, which was done 3 minutes after receiving an over-the-phone guarantee that they just checked and they have at least 50 units of the product in stock. And/or...
3. After you pay a fortune for 2nd day delivery, and they send you the wrong tracking number, then play phone tag and ignore your e-mails until the order arrives 10 days late.
(and one lamp was missing the on/off switch, the other lamp was the wrong model)
And good luck finding a supervisor to give you concrete answers.
This company is deceitful and conniving.
I place an order, called to cancel, and was told it had not shipped so order would be cancelled and I would receive notification next day. Instead, the next day, I received confirmation the order had been shipped. When I called to question this, I was told there was no record of my cancellation. When the order came, the items were damaged, and I called for return info. They did not even want to give me address for return. They are trying to charge restocking fee, and shipping fees. I am disputing with my credit card company.
NYC lighting should be avoided at all costs. Scamming and disreputable. There are many other sights that stand behind their product sales.
NYC said they are only implementing policy of Visual Comfort Lighting, the maker of the lights I bought. If this is case, do not by their products either. The polished nickel finish had spots all over.
Called them to have a broken chandelier fixed. They sent someone who took a couple of parts of my chandelier and I never saw them again since 2009. I tried to get the piece back, finally had to take the to court. Garry Fitterman has been beyond rude. He has insulted, bullied and threatened physical violence to me. 3,5 years later, i still have no chandelier, no money for the stolen parts, and we are still in litigation. THUGS.
Please read the risk-free return policy carefully. You cannot test the product. Once you test it - to see if it works or to see if it works in your space - it is considered "installed" and is non-returnable. The light fixture I purchased does not produce enough light with max wattage. It was like a night light. Completely disappointing... as was the customer service. Don't make a purchase unless you are 100% sure. Go to Home Depot instead!
Ordered a small rod to hang a fan. Wish I had read reviews first. Charge was IMMEADIATELY put through on credit card. Two days later they say they do not have any payment from me, even though I sent a screenshot of the credit card statement. Now they will not answer the phone. I am out $65 for a $10 part and shipping. Next time I will read reviews first!

Placed an order with these guys ($618), was told parts in stock to be delivered in 3-5 days.
9 days later no shipping information supplied, online chat not responding, customer service not answering phone, email messages not responded to. Found several very negative reports online.
Appearantly a scamming operation.
I ordered a lamp from this site and it was way bigger than I expected. When I went to return it I discovered there would be a 25% restocking fee. I literally lifted the shade out of the box half way and slid it back in and they want to charge me 25%? I tried to contact customer service MANY times and half the time they ignored me. They said that there's nothing they can do about it even though I was completely unaware about this policy when I made my order. This should be clearly stated at CHECKOUT! If they cared about keeping customers, they would have waived this fee for my first time since I was unaware of it. They've completely lost my business.
I inquired about an area rug. Online it says they have 3 in stock and that in stock items ship within 2-3 business days. I did the online chat and had the rep make sure they did in fact have it in stock because I know that other stores were sold out of this particular area rug. She confirmed that they did in fact have 3. On the 4th business day, when I did not receive an email notifying me of tracking information, etc. I did the online chat to inquire about the status of my order and when it will ship. I was told that the items was out of stock and that it would not be in stock maybe for another 8 months or so. I then asked for a refund to which she replied that I would have to wait until they cancel the order with the manufacturer before they can issue me a refund. That is VERY POOR customer service. If you don't have something to sell me, you need to refund me my money immediately, not hold on to it until you can cancel the order with the manufacturer.

Answer: When did you place the order? You can/should call your credit card company to file a dispute. Did you get any payment confirmation (did you keep those things in writing)? ANSWER: Yes, I talked with RBC Bank in Georgia, which said that the merchant had made the dollar conversions and only the merchant could reverse it. Lighting New York said it was nothing to do with them and could not reverse the phony charge.
