I'm close to a few people that worked at the Knife river in Bemidji and noticed that many staff were often not concerned with the safety of their employees. Employees were pushed to be at work even during bad road conditions, especially snow.

Bemidji Knife River staff also did not often abide with statements they had made previously. For example: employees were informed they would have the opportunity to park their truck near their home in order to avoid having to do extra driving. However, this was only allowed on a couple of occasions.

In hearing many conversations of employees, it was felt that this specific location did not show much of an understanding for taking time off for family/medical needs, etc. One example of this is when an employee requested to be scheduled a certain number of days due to a recent medical emergency. However, Bemidji staff informed her they would need her when they needed her forcing the employee to work around her medical schedule.
