I had a similar experience to other posters. I found JobNab on Facebook last night and set up an appointment for a phone interview at 8:30 this morning. Upon waking, I had a text reminding me of the appointment. I called at 8:30 and got a recording stating that normal business hours were 9-7. I stayed on hold for 10 min or so, thinking that no small company is perfect and that they may have overlooked changing their voicemail message. No one picked up. I tried again at 9am and the same thing happened. I can now no longer reach either the site or the Facebook app. I agree with the poster who sais the site could be legitimate but they could be in over their heads. I am giving up on JobNab for now.
Same schtick here- Cell text, entry form, call the number.
Young lady answered quickly.
School questions.
Affirmed a 3 day waiting period for listings in my zip.
I read above, where someone was asked for -and provided- a #SSN. THAT is a red flag. Since that did not happen to me, I won't get all hyper-negative-angry here. No point. Fact is, perhaps they're being creative with this marketing attempt. Better than an email spam I suppose, and if I never hear from them again, probably harmless. Lame-O insurance companies and even worse, nowhere tiny so-called "colleges" and tech schools are laughable if nothing else. Late night TV DeVry... Phoenix... just laugh and keep your spirits up, all.:-) tinyurl.com/marcsguitar
Like everyone else, i received a text message (totatally unprofessional) to register at job. Nab etc.
It is not fair for hundreds of people applying and seeking jobs to have phishing, scammers preying on people trying to find a job. Supposely Deb is texting me for a position she is filling in my area.?/ hmmm She text from this number *******890.
A real potential interested company would leave you a voice message to express interest in the resume or call to schedule a legit time to talk. I'm disgusted they have my resume.
Be careful and good luck to all who are job searching.
When I set up my profile online I scheduled a time to call the office. I was told that this phone call was needed to finish setting up my profile and would take between 5-20 minutes. It took 20 minutes and I was on hold the whole time. I hung up, and I assure you, their office was not closed these were their normal business hours. Anyplace that would tell you to call at a certain time and then not answer is completely unproffesional. The whole time it felt like a scam too, I was contacted by this lady on Facebook whose profile looked fake, she was the one that pointed me toward this crap. I'm gonna ream her a new one.
Look to be honest there are many scams out there but there are few that are free and also have a free education connection. The conection that is given is if you want the service you do not have to take it. However if you are not working just a note if you are unemployed and getting a government check you will get more financial aid and can qualify for gov. Grants, did all you education avoiders know that. Today companies can be picky and the only ones offered a job are people with degrees or in the process of getting one. All the people who hate this site are the people who are not working and not doing anything to help themselves. So good do not go back to get a degree this will just help me to get a job faster.
I was taking up for this site a lot at first, but now I'm not sure. I started my orientation and training as a job scout for the company last week. I haven't been able to start my new updated training this week that they have because they are redoing the site.
I still have a job finder profile on the site so i've also been logging in to that section. I logged in today and saw a job post that I was interested in. As I scrolled down I saw that I had to PURCHASE THE JOB FOR 89 CENTS?! I don't understand why I would have to PAY to APPLY FOR A JOB? That is what really threw me off about JobNab.com.
Could someone please explain to me why I would have to PAY to apply for a job listed on this site or any other site? And if I'm paying is it guaranteed that I will get the position?
Hi all,
Just thought I should share this, since I live in Orlando. I don't know if any of you have Googled the address that shows up on your text messages from "Ann(e)", but I did, and I found this to be very interesting. The address belongs to Florida Website Design, 7635 Ashley Park Court, Suite 503, Orlando, FL *******.
*******107
The initial search resulted in this:
Hours: 8-7pm M-F EST
Credit Card, Money Order, Cashiers Check, Cash, Personal Check, Paypal
Florida Website Design is a full-service, Orlando-area Web Design and Internet Marketing company with more than 8 years of experience transforming business strategy into tailored internet solutions that meet your company's marketing needs now and in the future.
Then I searched further, and found Florida Website Design's website address: http://www.flsites.com.
So this explains why job seekers are being told not to contact JobNab directly. They give a tollfree number because they know that the phone calls will be going to this company and their scam will be discovered! I will physically visit the building next and see what's actually there, and report back. This is not the way to do business, by taking advantage of those of us who are out of work and seriously seeking jobs!
They are preying on people who need jobs to gain the funds from having us dial the 866 number, and then there is no answer after the initial greeting that... a Job Nab specialist will be right with you to match you to the correct jobs and... that the wait will not be long. Ha! I bet they charged me big bucks for every second I let the phone ring!
As a recruiter for a company you can imagine my surprise when I found out from applicants that my positions were posted on craigslist. While I do understand that is free advertising for my company I was disappointed to see words spelled wrong as well as positions posted that had already been filled. I would recommend that if you see a job posted contact that company listed rather than go through jobnab. It also seems a bit sneaky to me that they are posting my positions without ever contacting me but rather just copy pasting off my company website.
This is a scam site. It is just an attempt to get your information - which they basically initially steal from you by creating a phony job to apply to thus getting your resume, phone, and email which are of value. Total scam. The opt out email address does not work nor does the text message number. Anne is an imaginary person. I'm blocking them with my cell carrier and filing a complaint with the Florida Atty General.
I also recently received a text message to my cell phone on 1/3/2011 informing me that "according to my resume, they had a job that they were filling, if I was interested, I should log onto Jobnab.com and register." When I got on my computer, I looked up this site and read the reviews for this site. I agree with someone else that made the comment here~~who is going to send you a job offer in the way of a text message~~if anything, they would leave a voice message. That would be the normal thing to do. I deleted the message from my cell phone.
I set up notification by CommunicationsJobs.net, which sent me this "job lead." I got as far as the call-for-an-appointment part and was suspicious by then. My wife/job-hunt adviser said it sounded like a scam. "Sterling Employment scam" came up as the SECOND recommendation on Google, and here I am. Thanks for all the info. God, this job searching is such a minefield.
I did not sign up for this website, and over the span of 24 hours I have been contacted through email, multiple phone calls, and two text messages from "Anne." I do not subscribe to unlimited text messaging--so every text costs me money. I find it extremely unprofessional to be receiving unsolicited text messages, as well as to be contacted through various means when I did not respond immediately to the initial contact (or third, fourth, fifth, sixth or seventh attempted contact). I feel like I am being stalked to register with this company/website. I did click the "Unsubscribe" on the email I received from JobNab, once I realized after the multiple phone calls that it was coming from this company/website. Overall the contact I have received from the company has seemed very much like a scam.
Somehow this website obtained my cell phone number which I have been careful not to include on resumes. I just received a text message requesting me to register on their website. This is very frustrating as I am trying to find a job, not waste my time with scams!
They ask for you social security number, which like a dummy I gave them, I called, they ask if I was interested in furthering my education and when I said no I have never heard from them. The girl I spoke with said they would be sending jobs to me in 3 days, it has been over a week and I have not heard a work from them, Just another scam. I have closed all my accounts just in case they are into identity theft.
To my surprise, JobNab still hasn't deleted my account since my request on 8/3/10. I'm still receiving emails. One email was from "John Wilkens" saying that I haven't completed the registration process and they needed me to follow a link to answer some more questions so that they may accurately match me with the most relevant open positions. There was also an email from "Greg Klein" telling me that "they" have reviewed my experience and think I will be the perfect fit for this architectural position, which I have no clue about. It says the email is from career-network.com, which I have never applied or sign up for; and it's in Orland, FL. So I assumed that this has something to do with JobNab. I requested for JobNab to delete my account again today. Hope they get it right this time. Oh gosh, another long wait again.
This supposed job site found me thru a job posting on craigslist. A fake company called Sterling Placement had a job posting. I completed the info and they said I could get phone interview right now, so I called thinking it was for a job and got side swiped with this "wanna go back to school" crap. Now my cell phone rings off the hook with these scammers and I am getting bombarded with emails. So watch out for Sterling Placement on Craigslist they give info to those jobnab jerkoffs!
I unfortunately fell for this scam and sent them a w-9 for employment. I learned yesterday that someone used my social and name to file a tax return. Do not fall for this company!
Appears to be yet another phishing scam to get your information to send you back to school. Don't these idiots know that even with loans and grants you will still have to pay back the money?
Note to everyone out there. You have probably come to the same conclusion that I have but if a site asks you anything about your education in the initial section where you fill out your information, avoid it as it will be a scam.
I was sent a text from anne called 2 times spent over a hour both times no one answerd just the play over mess. Someone will be with you shortly my butt! Don't send a text an call an no answer jobnab is crapp simple as that
Answer: Sounds like a skimpy way to get paid. You only get paid if someone opts for more education, and WHO does that when they are looking for work, so the odds of you getting paid is probably 1 out of 100. I think that with all the work they do to post these jobs takes a lot of time, and Why do you have to take and post the jobs you find onto other jobboards (even if they are free) on top of jobnab. I think you should at least get paid if a job searcher gets a job from all your hard work posting that job, not from the connection to a School recruit, who probably won't be able to recruit someone who has no money to go to school, and can't afford to pay off a hug loan to go to their school.
Jobnab has a rating of 1.7 stars from 80 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Jobnab most frequently mention text message, phone number and career network. Jobnab ranks 126th among Recruiting sites.
