I want to give you feedback on my recent experience. I have never tried a weight loss program before. I always dieted on my own. A friend had lost 10 pounds on Jenny Craig and I needed to drop 10-15. I went on line and signed up for a 2 week trial plan. I do not eat meat so I ordered the meatless program. When the food arrived, there was no manual or booklet telling me what to do. Just a few pages with free food choices and a page of the 1200 meatless menu;. I was surprised at how many unhealthy snacks were included and how much pasta was in the plan. There was no protein. No tofu, no beans, no fish etc. I lost 4 pounds in two weeks but did not feel healthy. Too many carbs and starches and not enough protein. There was no instruction about getting exercise or working out. No instruction about drinking water. I spoke to two counselors who both said they would send me the manual and I never got one. I was emailed a few pages but no program booklet. I was asked how often I wanted someone calling me or emailing and even though I asked for more regular calls or emails, I only got a call once a week. When I got my reorder there were 4 boxes of chicken carbonara - how is that meatless? I am disappointed and think they need to hire chefs and nutritionists who can provide better choices for those who want meatless menus. Pasta (penne, ravioli, mac & cheese) stuffed potatoes and pizza are not healthy choices eaten for 4 weeks by those who want meatless choices. Tacos with beans, quiche, tofu, veggie burgers would have been welcome additions. I have two weeks worth of entrees that I will use with some protein over the next month and am tossing all the calorie riden sugary cakes and high calorie snacks with zero nutrition. I hope this feedback will be helpful to others. My friend who lost the 10 pounds used their regular menu and told me it was 50% carbs and 50% protein. A much better balance than what they had in their meatless selections.
The prices are low, affordable for me, and lots of useful tips for workout could be found.
I don't believe these programs are very good in comparison to eating healthy food and maybe joining a local group.
My counselor was/is Fantastic. I can call any time, and she's there with Great advice.
Yes, it is expensive, BUT, I weighted in at 168. It's been 7 weeks, and I'm 139.7, with virtually no exercise. I'm a songwriter, so I don't get up much from my desk, and have little time for walking the dog, ect.
I've been Very pleased with the results, but the expense it getting to be a bit much. I can't argue with the tremendous results however. For me it's been worth Every penny, to get those 30 lbs off, but now, I'm perhaps looking for an alternative, that doesn't cost quite as much. If I can't find an alternative, I'll stick with Jenny.
Pretty nice diet and I'm satisfied with the result, foods are tasty and the prices are reasonable. Thus, I like experiments and later I will try some other diet.
