That is a truly impressive solution for managing taxes! I am myself quite a cautious person, trying to comply with all the rules the government imposes, so paying taxes is quite mandatory. With their mobile application, it's very easy to manage taxes, pay them and be an obedient citizen :) It doesn't take a lot of time to sign up, to understand how to interact with the mobile application because the interface is intuitively clear and navigation is very straightofrward. Thanks developers for this service!
There is no way you can teach a person on the phone. There are no receptionists so it's like you submit your documents into an abyss and hope that someone gets back to you. The manager Osman Mohammed is unprofessional. He only knows how to raise his voice and hung up on customers face. He needs to be fired. I developed anxiety trying to get my taxes done this year and now they have all my documents and I can't even get them back. This is unreal. Don't go here

The costs have doubled since doing the same taxes last year- and this was surprise revealed AFTER investing 3 hours painstakingly entering all my info; was hit at the end with increased costs and additional fees for being "complicated"- but it was the same as last years (and not that complicated). Student and social media self-employed here.
So, unethical surprise "gotcha" billing, but additionally, my "pro" Christine Ruiz never addressed my concerns or answered my questions before hurriedly finalizing my return, leaving me to just hope I correctly did all the parts I felt like I was fudging- then had ignored all subsequent messages. It's been 7 days with no reply. Utterly professionally unacceptable and disappointing considering what I've paid.
Emerald card is a scam h&r block are liars and criminals taking from others because they don't work themselves and then take more than their cut a paper check came before they put it on the card and it was half of what it should be thanks for nothing but ripping me off and kicking someone when they are down
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. TERRIBLE PHONE SERVICE - Wastes valuable time unnecessarily. Almost impossible to get a real person at the Baden PA office. Stupid menu and repeititive mumbo jumbo not needed. No way to contact my tax preparer directly or via email. I will NEVER use their services again for this reason. Totally unacceptable in this day and age. They operate in the Dark Ages there.
I have used H&R Block for years. It has always been good. This year I needed basic clarification. The AI wasn't giving me the information I needed, and the live representative online never responded. So, I called them. My question was "What is the standard deduction with the addition for being over 65. She did not know. I stayed on hold 3 different times, totaling 15 minutes for her to tell me to ask the AI. I will never use them again.
I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM 2 WEEKS IN ADVANCE. TO DO TAXES. THEN I GET A CALL A DAY BEFORE APPOINTMENT. TO BRING ALL PAPER WORK IN FOR DROP OFF. SO THEY CAN DO MY TAXES ON THEIR OWN. THEN THEY WOULD CALL ME. TO COME BACK A SECOND TIME. TO DO THE ELECTRONIC SIGNATURES AND ALL OTHER PROCEDURES THERE. TOTAL UNACCEPTABLE THIS PRACTICE IS. ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAD AN APPOINTMENT SET FOR 2 WEEKS. TO COME IN TO DO MY TAXES.
First year filing with hr block 2024 and Filed a perfect return only to be denied a refund advance for poor credit performance from a new company?
Also had to guide the lady on how to use her own computer as if I was her first hoping I don't get hit with any hidden fees I keep hearing about it I was gone wait the 21 days for a return I would rather do it on my own then to pay someone $380 bucks to ask a couple questions don't recommend especially there refund on there so called Emrald and spruce card it's all bs go to Jackson Hewitt or turbo tax instead

This will be the last year I Will be using H&R Block after using this program for over 8 years. What used to cost $35.00 dollars that cost me $53.75. The program is what I think is "crap". You get all of your information put in and then it says it needs to update federal on February 16th. So I wait until that date to update and then it now turns around and says it needs another update February 23rd. I know several people who have filed in other ways starting in the first of February with no troubles. No updates and have their returns done and back already. H&B you are losing another customer. You are nothing like it used to be. It is kind of a scam type business. Now, shame on me for trusting in something that came from my home town of Kansas City. Never again.

I won't file again with HR block, they charge to much, rental rebate was really short,so next year I'm going somewhere else
II filed my taxes with HR block almost a year ago. I was owed a refund of over 1,000$. The IRS never contacted me and I have called them several times with a different excuse or explanation each time. I have sought help from HR block and they were not any help at all. This year I will pay turbo tax to file my taxes.
I penned this letter:
Ms. Nicki Cole, VP of Technology, Small Business and Financial Services
1 H and R Block Way
Kansas City, MO *******
Ms. Cole,
I wish to alert you to software 'glitches' in the DIY 2023 Federal return software.
What seemed to be a quick and easy tax reporting this year turned into yet another software aggravation afternoon that has turned into two afternoons lost simply because the downloaded to my pc version of U.S. Federal tax package is unable to identify and insert "Distributions Used to Pay Insurance Premiums for Public Safety Officers" numbers on line 5(b) of form 1040. I did see when the software 'asked me' relevant questions but then the matter 'disappeared' along with the $2066 reduction in adjusted gross income.
Recording the $2066 onto the form 1040 has not happened despite calls to and the apparent efforts of three different 'customer service' representatives over two days. The current status of 'case ******* is 'waiting'. Ms. Maria indicated her entire 'team' was unable to direct me to the portion of the program associated with that line 5(b) entry on form 1040, that "Someone will call back within 5 days".
During the many times to and fro the software, I noticed on the page "Additional Information for Early Distributions", a box was checked for
"Excess Accumulations (Not enough withdrawn) from a retirement plan, … If you have a 1099R in your return, you can't uncheck this box..."
Yes, I could not 'uncheck the box'. Despite assurances, the software did not tell itself to 'uncheck the box'. I have a 1099R report form along with charitable giving checks as documentation. The investment firm computed the required minimum distribution as $624 more than the money I gave away. The distribution is indicated on the 1099R.
HOW can I have "excess accumulations"? Why did I need waste two afternoons on this?
I encourage you to have some semi-literate types test run the FY 2024 software to determine questions 'average Joe & Juliette' have that, if reworded, would reduce angst and irritation for both your employees and those who pay you for doing so.
Tip for consumers:
Software downloaded from the sky ... Federal version only (no state, city taxes) .. representatives - all three pleasant but unable to help because the problem is technical rather than informational 'how do I?'

Not only were they beyond expensive, which completely defeated the purpose of using them as an inexpensive alternative if you're lower income. The communication from my "trained tax advisor" was shotty at best, and extremely confising. They also completely messed up one of my filings and told me to expect a return, only for CRA to reassess and find out I actually have to pay them almost $2000. Like, isn't this your job? How could you make such a massive mistake? Not impressed, will NEVER use their services again. Strongly advise others to steer clear of them as well.
I'm sure NOT all H&R Block centers are the same, and some MIGHT actually be good. However, my experience was ANYTHING but good!
Specifically, the 487 Baltimore Pike location in Springfield Pennsylvania. As much as I would like to provide the specific name of the analyst, I had the unfortunate circumstance to be "assigned", I won't. However, his titled of "Senior" Tax Analyst was anything but accurate (small clue there). As for being professional, I doubt he could spell it, and surely doesn't know the definition of the word. In fact, he was downright rude.
As many of the other reviews point out, overall, this franchise model is highly unorganized, has had serious regulatory issues, and in this specific location, (487 Baltimore Pike, Springfield PA), they have zero consideration for your time, and in my case, were downright rude and unprofessional.
Do yourself a HUGE favor – go somewhere else, and if you do decide to give H&R block a chance – go to a different location then 487 Baltimore Pike in Springfield PA – and if you do end up there – don't use the "long time" senior tax analyst – you will be sorry!
Website wasted my time offering free tax filing then added charges to the cart to file the taxes. Misleading and dishonest business.
Will never use HR Block again! I normally do my own taxes because they are as simple as they get! 1 W2! I used them this year to take advantage of the refund advance because I needed to pay up my daughters dentist bill. They charged me 390$ to do my SIMPLE taxes! 🤯 I understand the tax pros need to get paid but I did not have anything other than 1 W2. Then I get charged another 39.00 to use my refund to pay for my taxes (which is normal for most tax companies) I agreed to pay this crap yes because I needed the money asap. BUT instead of waiting until I got my federal return like most companies they took my entire state return and then will still need more money when my federal gets sent! I may have misunderstood but I was under the impression they were going to deduct the money for the fees and the loan repayment from my federal return! Because the state was sent first they took it all and now I still owe some! Stupid to me and will never use them again! I will wait patiently to get my full refund at 1 time and file my dang self!
They have way too many hidden fees that they do NOT tell you about. Their filing fees are outrageous. The staff is okay but management is deplorable.
I have been using H&R Block for over 20 years and never had an issue. This year however, I do not have anything good to say about their services. My refund check was missing, which should not have been since I requested direct deposit and NOT a paper check. I called H&R Block 3 times to speak with the woman that did my taxes, the receptionist was being extremely rude on the phone when I was explaining to her that my check was missing, she was making assumptions and giving me wrong information. Finally after 3 phone calls I left a DM for the tax woman, my email started politely and professionally her reply was rude and extremely unprofessional. All I simply wanted to know was when the paper check was mailed so I knew not to contact the IRS to start an investigation, of course that really pissed off H&R Block and after that I never heard back from her asking if she could help or if I received the paper check. I finally did receive the paper check, which helps me pay my bills. I DO NOT RECOMMEND H&R BLOCK THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL and extremely rude find yourself another way to do your taxes,
Tip for consumers:
Don't go to H&R Block save your sanity and go elsewhere
For the past 25 years I have used H&R. I've never received a break for being loyal in fact the fees for filing with them go up every year. I've always done the emerald advance but this year an elderly lady kept putting my info incorrectly. I even pointed it out nicely and was told by her she was doing it correct. THEY changed my email address because the lady wasn't putting it in correctly so I could verify I am who I am ( sitting in front of her with my id pay stubs etc). I do not know the email address that someone she called for help gave me. I have been upset with them for awhile now but I am loyal so I stayed then I got to thinking about the phone call I received from the manager one time because I gave the lady that did my taxes a good review but when the question was about if the price was fair I said no. Apparently that sparked a reason to get a call from a manager advising me that my survey affects the lady that did my taxes and I shouldn't have done that. I thought about how every year my fee for filing goes up. I thought about making an appointment and when I arrive they can't find my info from last year and how I get to watch people with later appointments get seen before me. I thought of a lot of things and this year when I filed I DID NOT use H&R and got a better refund so now I can't help but wonder how much a refund they have screwed me out if for 25 years?! I will not ever go back to H&R ever again
My dad got an IRS notice that he owes $26,000 on a return H&R Block filed. I've left 3 messages and haven't received a response! No one answers the phone! Impossible to reach! I'm beyond angry! I'd have my taxes done somewhere else!
David Whitley was my fiance's tax adjuster and was so unprofessional he did absolutely the minimum lesson the bare minimum really to accommodate my fiance he was rude and he didn't even know what he was talking about my fiance spent more time talking to the IRS then talking with him figuring out his job and what needs to be done matter of fact he didn't even know something as simple an a IP number or what a IP number is then who is required to have one and not to have one being that she's the first time taxpayer why he was asking to go to four digit number when really it's a 6-digit IP number is upstairs because I thought you were a tax professional I recommend that you do not go through this man because he will not accommodate you in any of the ways that you should be and you will end up spending more time having to do his job for him than anything else why he is getting paid and you are so stressed out on the phone with the IRS and losing that money that he's getting paid he is in my words worthless and useless so I recommend that you stay away from him and go with someone else completely different
I filed my taxes with them last year and the experience was much better than with a certain competitor, but this year I couldn't file at all thanks to their two-step verification and lack of customer service. I changed phones (and numbers) since last year and now they won't let me into my account. The "customer service" number sent me an email which led me into the same horrible loop. Despite me having access to the email, entering the verification number, and entering the password, I could not file because I didn't have access to the phone number. This is sooooooooo ridiculous. They've permanently lost a customer because of this idiocy!

Arnold only wanted to file a simple return and did not care how much I had to pay because of his incompetence. I called him and he stated he would not change my return even though he knew I had other deductions. When asked why? The only answer I got to any questions was I DON'T KNOW. He finally said he had no time to help me and hung up the phone on me. This is the worst case of incompetence. Will never use this rude person or The blockheads at H&R Block ever
This was by far the worst experience I've ever had when filing taxes. During a month long we were avoided, lied to and ignored because we asked for an update on our taxes due to a mistake they made. They didn't tell us additional info was needed until we waited weeks and had to call them. The tax preparer literally called in sick to avoid us. Or taxes were simple and this is unacceptable. Both Gretta and Louanne(manager) were incredibly rude, unprofessional and making improper remarks that were completely out of line. I highly suggest anyone who considers them to go elsewhere. I'm not the only one who's had these issues. Check the reviews.
Ms. Annette Kenney was very professional and truly pleasant. She gave great service and shocked me, at how quick she was doing this process, I felt like I was practically in and out. I truly recommend her services to the fullest. Her service is GREAT! Out of all of these years, she was the best I've dealt with yet. She earned her 5 STAR RATING from me!
