I started with a chat about how to add cPanel to My VPS... They redirected me to sales with a link and then, nothing. I finally found out how to do it myself.
I bought their managed VPS Plans and asked them to set up WordPress with LEMP but they haven't installed NGINX due to which website was almost down for 24 hours then I decided to downgrade from Managed VPS to Unmanaged VPS lack of
Support expertise. I checked available upgrade options on their panel which generated an invoice which I haven't paid as I never wanted to make any other payment to them but they pulled the $109.33 without my permissions and when I asked the refund they said Refund is not possible.
Services are good enough you get a quick response from Level 1 Support but rest of other things are totally mess.

My ip is blocked by the government, and Hostwinds didn't provide an option for me to change it freely. I bought that IP, found it didn't work, and tried to change one, but it told me that this action sells for 3 dollars, and the new IP could also be blocked!

I purchased an SSL certificate. I contacted customer experience asking what the typical estimated time is for it be become active so I could know how to proceed in the short term. Product is still unavailable and ticket has been escalated to Tier 4 tech support to answer the estimate question which I still have not received an answer to this basic question. Not sure how the actual product is since it still has not been activated but tech support experience has been below basic expectations...

Hostwinds is a joke. The first thing they did when migrating my sites - they lost the data base of two of my sites (which I still cant recover). Now, when they failed to deliver what they advertise online - "fast sites" (my sites were so slowly that I could not do business), instead of apologizing and giving me some credit, they made it difficult to close my account and now are trying to collect $30 for "back up storage fee". (They charge me $30 a month for back up storage + $1!?). The new hosting company where I am at now charges ZERO dollars for cloud back up storage!) They intentionally do not even bother to respond to the opened case with PAYPAL in order to further delay and frustrate me as a customer. Smart move! I regret getting involved with hostwinds. One of my serious business mistakes. Based on my experience - they do not care for the business of the customer. They deeply care, though, for the prompt billing of the customer. That is for sure. It does not matter whether the customer understands what he/she is billed about, why they increase the price of a service etc. As long as they receive their payments everything is fine. I was forced to move to a different hosting since their support could not find a solution for the slow speed issue and the 3rd party expert I was working with said "The support people do not know what they are doing. We need to look for a solution elsewhere". That was what I did. The hostwinds person who is handling my cancelation ticket is arrogant and disrespectful. It is a shame!

I already had a bad experience with hostwinds, they blocked port25 after I paid for IPs that I didnt even use, there was no complaint on my account, nothing, they just did it, so i decided to give it an other chance, I hope I wont regret it. If my experience went well this time I will come back and give better rating

Ordered a hosting package and then a domain. Got a message that the domain purchase was under review for 24 hours. A day later still no domain and still no explanation. I think I'm canceling and going somewhere else

I signed up for hosting and they provided no service. Just kept creating support tickets passed on in an endless circle! I finally canceled and expected a refund but they refused. Even putting my account into collections even though they owe me! Beware of these people!
I purchased ddos protection for my dedicated server thru the upgrade option on the dedicated server panel, 3 months ago. I was then ddos attacked on the night of 10/25 and did NOT receive any type of resolution for over 12 hours and was also sent a reply that was intended for another customer while being ignored. I requested a refund for the 3 months of ddos protection in which i was denied due to the protection being applied to a different block of ip addresses but not the block that i purchased. Thats not my fault as i purchased ddos protection specifically thru the dedicated server upgrades/addons section. Why would it not be applied to the block of ips that the dedi server is on? Then act like its my fault. Thats just really really really bad customer service. When you need them most they turn their back on you and youre just another dollar sign. Shame that a small company cant make a long time paying customer happy with a simple refund of $150 when they were clearly in the wrong. And not even offer half a refund or anything. I get nothing. No soup for me, only ddos attacks and my money taken from hostwinds. I have taken my dedicated server business elsewhere to a company with real ddos protection and support and i will be cancelling my web hosting with them soon as well.
Also have something in their terms and conditions that says youre not allowed to file chargebacks against them, what company does that? Super scummy business practices
I had a bad experience, I chatted the support and enquire if port 25 is open, and they said it is open by default so I got a VPS to host email server for a client and discovered port 25 is closed. Then I chatted the customer care and they referred me to a team that claimed that because I have spam that my account is suspended, and I reply that I just got the VPS I haven't installed anything at all, and they claimed that the system automatically detect and flagged my server, funny, even their system detects spammers before they even begin to use their service. I demanded for a refund since I can't use the assistant, and the consultant was requesting for my credit card details that I used to purchase the server with an ID card before the port will be open, I refuse and demand refund I never got rather they were demanding for my credit card details and ID card.

When I was trying to test out hosting providers that has port 25 open since my client needs a mail server. And I contacted hostwind support and they assured me that day have port 25 open, surprisingly to me when I bought the server I saw something else. Tell me data server I just got is flag for sperm even when nothing is installed thats is total fraud

I operate a very low volume website on wordpress and with a near $20/m plan it wasn't even capable of using the wordpress control panel. Overloaded shared servers or terrible allocation. I've foolishly used them for nearly 4 years and am extremely glad to have switched. Cheaper and infinitely faster. Never use Hostwinds.

Had three websites migrated to Hostwinds. After four months of countless support tickets, the websites never worked correctly. Frustrated with their hack attempts, I moved to Hostinger. Using the same backup files as provided to Hostwinds, migration with Hostinger was seamless and absolutely no issues using Wordpress. The difference in speed was dramatic. I requested a prorated refund from Hostwinds. Buyer beware. They only offer a credit on additional services. A gimmick. Who would want to remain with a provider after such a deplorable experience. In my view, this gimmick is tantamount to coercion to trade up and double down on a pathetic experience. I have no idea how many sales were lost using Hostwinds but thankfully, Hostinger had my sites up and running smoothly with the added advantage of very fast Wordpress editing online. If using Wordpress, I would strongly recommend avoiding Hostwinds. Their technical staff is underwhelming.
SUBSCRIPTION FRAUD!
DESPITE CANCELLING MY SUBSCRPTION ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS AGO, THEY KEPT CHARGING ME CONSTANTLY MONTHS AFTER MONTHS
THOUGH I DELETED THE INSTANCE 4-5 MONTHS AGO AND AS MUCH AS I CAN REMEBER I WAS HAVING ISSUES SOMEWHERE. HENCE I OPENED SUPPORT TICKET AND ASKED TO DELETE EVERYTHING. AND BEING A ONE MAN PERSON IN MY BUSINESS I TEMPORARILY MOVED ON TO OTHER THINGS WHILE HOPING THAT TEAM WILL TAKE CARE OF IT PROVIDED THAT I'VE BEEN GIVING THEM MY EXCLUSIVE CONSENT.
THE NEXT MONTH I SEE A REMINDER DIRECTLY ON MY BANK STATEMENT AS A FINAL CHARGE. NO EMAIL REMINDERS, NO NOTIFICATIONS OF THE COMING SUBSCRIPTION, DIRECTLY A CHARGE. SO I WROTE AN EMAIL BACK TO TEAM TO KINDLY TAKE ACTION AND STOP THESE CHARGES, TO WHICH THEY CREATED TICKET AND STILL DIDN'T DELETED WHOLE THING( DESPITE ME ASKING THIS WHOLE TIME ON LIVE CHAT AS WLL AS TICKETS) BUT RATHER LEFT A FEW MICRO SERVICES LIKE SNAPSHOTS ETC TO BE DELETED MANUALLY BY MYSELF (WHICH IS WHERE I WAS HAVING ISSUES).AND FOR THE LEFT OF THE MONTHS I'VE BEEN ASKING TO DO IT FOR ME.
AFTER 3-4 MONTHS AND MORE CHARGES ACCUMULATED, SOMEONE FINALLY CREATED SUPPORT TICKET AND ASSURED ME OF MY REFUND FOR ALL THESE SHADY CHARGES. I REPLIED TO THE TICKET AND MOVED ON TO WORK BEING BUSY. MEANWHILE SOMEONE ELSE FROM BILLING REPLIED IN THE TICKET ASKING FOR CONSENT AGAIN( TO WHICH I MISSED REPLYING SINCE I ALREADY REPLIED) SURPRISINGLY THEY CLOSED TICKET WITHOUT REFUND.
AND TILL YESTERDAY I HAD STOPPED A FEW GHOST SERVICES AGAIN AND ASKED FOR REFUND. THEY REFUNDING NOW ONLY ONE MONTH CHARGE AND ENFORCING THEIR POLICY.
I'VE EVIDENCE OF ME ASKING THEM TO DELETE/STOP EVERYTHING ON EVERY INTERACTION. RATHER THAN TAKING CARE OF EVERYTHING ON ONE SINGLE TICKET THEY KEPT ME THROWING HERE AND THERE YET THEY KEPT ME IN LOOP FOR THIS LONG AND KEPT CHARGING ME NOT REFUNDING AND ENFORCING THEIR POLICY IS A TYPICAL "SUBSCRIPTION FRAUD" RUNNING ALONGSIDE LEGIT BUSINESS TO YEILD THE CHERRY ON TOP.
HOSTWIND IS SUBSCRIPTION FRAUD.

They Kept me in loop for replying to tickets after tickets despite me asking on every interaction to cancel everything and stop charges. Now that charges had accumulated and i pressurized to sue the company. They again told me that some of the services were still running despite asking to cancel everything since months.
and they agreed to refund me for only 1 month even though they've been chargin me post cancellation since 4-5 months;
