HipStamp

Too many times I have been shipped the wrong items. The first two times I just did not take the time to complain. This most recent items was not even close to being correct. Is it low quality sellers or a lack of screening?

I have been collecting stamps for years, and with the advent of the internet have been buying on line. I used eBay for many years (and still keep an eye on what is out there), but my best sellers for years are on Hip Stamp. Their quality and service is good as ever, and the site makes payment and reviews easy. I give it 5 stars and will keep using it.

Negative seller feedback is routinely removed, overpriced and biased against buyers. Bought a few items there, couple turned out different than in photos on listing pages. Had to resort to paypal as site would not do anything. Some but not all sellers are rude and unresponsive. Their support forum gets very little traffic and is mostly monitored by sellers that are often snotty and full of self adoration. Would not shop there again.

I both buy and sell stamps on this site. I have never had any problems with other sellers when their has been an issue nor have I given my buyers any problems either.
The fees are reasonable and you can get some great bargains here depending on the seller. As always, buyer beware.

APS has taken over this site and are listing thousands of stamps without descriptions aside from catalog number. Five of fifteen items that I bought had undescribed faults. You'd think that an philatelic society would have some quality standards but they don't. The APS site has turned Hipstamp into a free for all of junk dealers and scammers. Hipstamp needs a button to block sellers so we don't have to wade through their junk.

Longleaf Stamps ships the item picture in the scan. Seller is responsive and helpful. They ship quickly too.

I used to love this site until I had a problem. Seller refused to ship order after a week and asked them to cancel the order. They cancelled but refused to refund my money. Said he would send a check in the mail. I told the seller I dont accept checks from people I dont know especially irresponsible ones. Contacted Hip Stamp and they told me I was on my own. Will not use a site that refuses to act ethically. You provided this POS with a platform you are responsible for what happens on that platform.

I've been a HipStamp user since long before it was called HipStamp. The site has been through multiple incarnations since the original "StampWants" site back in 2005, then it became "BidStart" and now it has become HipStamp after an ill-fated purchase by the British Stanley Gibbons organization failed.

Anyway, this is a nice web site for stamp collectors because you can find anything from fairly cheap stamps for beginner collections, to specialized material, to some quite valuable items.

As an occasional seller of stamps, I like that the seller fees are relatively low and the listing process is pretty straightforward. Whereas the site is by no means as busy as eBay's stamp collecting area, it's definitely a viable alternative.

This site is dedicate for stamp collector. But there is no protection for buyer at all. If seller do not send purchased stamps or send only partial order, this site can not do anything. A seller BOBPLATE, Bob, is a big liar who only sent out part of the order but insisted he sent all. Complained to the site, no response. Just be aware.

This site is just set up for a few sellers to get rid of stock every one else gets a few sales then nothing pay your $90 and you are shafted.

If you do your homework you can't possibly be surprised in your purchases. When you participate in their auctions you can be discouraged at your results. Do your homework before getting involved.
