It helped me tremendously write work emails, business reports, and even text messages. I have more confidence in all my writings, and Grammarly is one productive tool I cannot live without each day. I subscribed to the Premium membership, which is well worth the investment. Keep up all your great work.
Even though I pride myself in my writing skills, I have loved using Grammarly every day since installing it. It is like a boost of confidence when writing those important papers and the responses to requests for information. I think I've even learned a thing or two from Grammarly!
This extension is overall pretty decent.
Pros: helps grammar mistakes, how to make your text sound a bit better
Cons: have to pay money for what the ads show, again, have to pay money to get a pretty good experience.
Would give a 5 star if they added more features for free users.
Was a bit disappointed when I first downloaded it, thinking it was going to be what the ad showed. Would also recommend that the company mentions what features different categories have.
Update: Giving this company a lower review due to the awful customer service.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use it if you're not up for paying money for grammar mistakes, or if you are ever going to cancel it. This basically means, just don't use this site. Customer service is not reliable at ALL, wouldn't recommend going to them, nor the representatives.

While I was going to try to keep all my reviews nice, I found it very hard to do with this one. I have watched many commercials with people writing with Grammarly. It showed them getting different suggestions on how to improve their word choice, how to replace weaker adjectives with stronger ones, etc. It failed to mention that both of these things cost money and it's NOT CHEAP. As in like 30 dollars a month. I was very upset to hear that they did not provide this in the free plan. I know you shouldn't expect things free but they failed at giving correct information. I feel like they bend the truth just a bit. All Grammarly does for me is fix spelling errors and add or correct punctuation which is not what I was hoping for or expecting when I signed up. Now they send me all kinds of emails telling me to sign up for Grammarly Premium which apparently has all the things that they didn't give to me. They display how many things you could have in the corner hoping for you to buy even though I was expecting all those things because that's what the commercials tell me is in it. I was very upset and I don't think it is worth it at all.
Tip for consumers:
DON'T EXPECT WHAT IS SHOWN IN THE COMMERCIALS! If you do, you will be very disappointed.
I have been a freelance writer for many years. Some of the suggestions were very helpful and I am grateful for them. Here's the thing. Many of the suggestions were simply inaccurate - which could be extremely damaging for someone in my business. If you are going to be in this business you have got to know your stuff. I used it once and will use it again but I no longer trust this company.
I have subscribed to the Premium version. Still, it does not reliably start premium on startup, and it often loses connections, more than once a minute. As I write this somewhat negative review it is correcting me!
It is difficult to find if the premium version, which I pay for each month, is running, as the application askes me again and again if I want to upgrade to premium. I'd say the application WHEN IT WORKS is good, but the overall application is very amateurish and buggy. I'm not clear whether I will continue with this tool.

I'm still completing my education, and I'd heard that it was helpful. For context, I do a lot of creative writing spanning various styles and languages. I can't put it into multiple languages at once, so when I had a novella that had most of its dialogue in German, Grammarly kept changing it. Just in this review alone, it's been trying to change things that are perfectly fine. There are features that might be useful, but they're part of the overpriced premium plan. I'm not paying that, plus tuition for my formal English teacher. The tones are also hilariously bad; I'm currently "sad." The algorithm doesn't understand commas and enjoys trying to put "the" in front of every single noun. If I were to actually use most of its suggestions, it would look like I'd Google Translated some sentences from my rudimentary Italian practice.
I understand how difficult it is to get everything right, but these errors are so bad that they'd be almost funny if I wasn't so angry with this product. So many of my peers use it to assist in their writing, so I assumed that it would be a good addition to my desktop. It was not. I think that this is marketed as some sort of resumé-writing genius machine, but functions more like a substitute math instructor trying to teach English. I can tell this partially from the fact that I have a seething case of writer's block and only wrote 14,002 words last week but still managed to be more productive than 92% of users. This should be aimed instead toward students looking for a cheap hack to get caught using a bad spell check.

Grammarly is not very modern aka if I wrote something like LMAOOOOO it will try to correct me. When I dismiss something it always comes back, and it really annoys me. But it helps with my school and other things. I don't recommend this because spell check on any other application is better.

Paid version catches more errors than the free one, but only marginally so.
And it still misses many errors, and flags things that are correct.
But the biggest reason for my 2-star rating is the fact that you have to use their crappy keyboard if you want to use their app on your phone. It won't work with SwiftKey, which is what I use. If I wanted a junk keyboard, I'd get an iPhone.
I paid for premium and downloaded the chrome extension and the Office add-in. Both perform inconsistently. Sometimes they just stop underlining suggestions. Their support page pretty much says maybe try this or maybe try that. Nothing works. Then it will randomly work again. Sometimes one works and not the other...infuriating. Sometimes it injects spelling corrections into a different word and produces gibberish. For example I typed "between tha". Grammarly flagged the error, suggested "between the", which I accepted, but then changed the phrase to "betweeen tha". It's impossible to find help in their support system unless you enter an exact question that someone else has. While I'm typing this I'm trying to figure out how to get grammarly to start underling suggestions again! It says I have 510 issues but keeps them a secret as to where they are!

I got this to help me write better for schoo. Sure it helped me with spelling, but google docs would do that normally. I could barely do anything and was always spam emailed constantly being asked to sign up and spend tonnes of money. I am a student. I do not have hundreds of dollars to spend each year.
The support team were nice overall, but my general opinion has stayed unchanged. I unfortunately cannot pay the amount that is required, and I hope that Grammarly upgrades their free services soon, or release a cheaper student version.

Grammarly keeps finding problems with things like single quotation marks, and last names. It is very annoying and unhelpful.

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, and we're sorry to hear about your experience. Grammarly shouldn't be correcting names; our team would love to look into this and make any necessary changes.
We have reached out to you separately to gather more details.
We look forward to speaking with you directly.

The back and forth via email is ridiculous. With a five-minute phone call, we could have solved something that - as of today - is still not solved. Most of the instructions I'm told to do are outside of my technical expertise, and I don't have time to sit here and try and figure it out. I am a busy editor and have a duty to my customers to be fast. They've wasted my time so many times. They can't afford live chat? Then revamp your business plan to include real customer service, not the quasi-help you offer.

When I got Grammarly on my Chromebook I thought it would be as good as it was in the commercials, but I was wrong. Everything was so misleading.
The amazing writing helper that you see in the commercials was for the premium version of Grammarly that you have to pay for! When I got the free version I thought it would at least be a little better than Google autocorrect and again I was wrong. They are the same thing and in some cases Google autocorrect is better. I always have to read my documents over because Grammarly doesn't do its job and sometimes I don't have to proofread my documents because Google autocorrect is there to save the day.
Grammarly changes the whole meaning of a sentence, and changes the words completely, I got grades off because of Grammarly.
I hope you take my review seriously,
Thank you

It will try and ¨fix¨ your writing but all it does is want to make me rip my hair out. I have to write an essay for my class and she's having us use the ¨overall score¨ and the premium suggestions are killing me. It wants me to fix problems like ¨It tells the story of Salva Dut a lost boy from South Sudan" And if I remove the ¨A" making it improper (It's fine with that by the way). The whole premium section is a scam don't waste your money.

I used Grammarly for a year. Everything was great, it helped me a great deal during my first year in uni, never let me down, I even advised other students in my faculty to pay the premium subscription. It's useful if you have to write academic papers and not too expensive. However, I am in my second year now, and my schedules are super full, I have to write way more than last year and study a lot. So it came to me as a surprise that my payment for the second year has not gone through. At first, I was just anxious and stressed, tried to pay with 3 different cards all corresponding to 3 different banks. All of them got declined. I knew that all of them have money in and are usable for online and international payments, so naturally, I got mad. I tried again and again and nothing would change. Then out of anger, I wrote a message, then realized that I won't get an answer on time anyways. When I need something I need it then and there, so I can't afford to wait for days. Add a freakin live chat option FFS it's the 21st century everyone does that! Why do I have to wait for days!? I'm a student I don't have an hour to feed myself, do you really think I can just put my work on hold for days? Ok, anyways... I then contacted my banks, YK maybe they know something. Turns out that yes all of them are rejecting my payments because this company is considered to be fraud, due to consumer complaints, thus I can't pay for the service anymore unless I ask for payment details and do it manually and even then the bank can still reject my payment. Do I really have to suffer because they can't hold a normal public image? Do I have to pay the price for their inability to remain internationally trustworthy? Plus why the hell, can't you add the payment details on your webpage, or on that same page where I am supposed to enter my cards details? And add an option to pay with Ideal already, so people in the Netherlands can pay for it with a Dutch card. Is it really that difficult? People want fast and reliable service, is that really such a hard concept for you to grasp? I know that this review also will gain the necessary attention only in 9 days so probably I have to look for a different company, which I sincerely do not want to do, but I am left with no options. Hopefully, people will consider this before buying, maybe next year also your bank will refuse you an option to pay for this service.

If you have Microsoft Word or any other software/program and you're not actively writing on the daily, save your money. I paid for a year in advance while I was in school, but failed to read the fine print where my purchase was an automatic subscription. I was recently charged for another year. (YAY! Right around the holidays when I need the funds the most) Despite not using or needing the service, Grammarly will not issue a refund. I miss the days of boxed software where we weren't all sucked into subscriptions and auto-billed... So, here I am, using Grammarly with "passive voice" errors to give "meh" reviews ALLLLL over the internet.
Grammarly does pick up on a lot of errors, then totally drops the ball with even something like comma placement. The worst aspect is customer service. After spending 140 bucks for the premium version, you'd think a quick response to the comma issue would be at least polite. It's now going on three days, and every day they jerk me around, I'll write another sparkling review like this one.
Here are the mistakes I still had:
For example, the following errors are noted: missing article, tense inconsistency, missing/misplaced commas, sentences with missing word, and run-on sentence (comma splice).
NO REFUNDS either! I cannot believe that it could have been this horrid.
I have dyslexia and thought Grammarly would be a good solution but it can't be trusted. It can't understand context at all. So if I type 'to' instead of 'too' it doesn't pick it up. It can do verb and article agreement and stuff like that but nothing more and it often assumes a mistake where there isn't one. Me: "This won't work" - Grammarly: "Shouldn't that be "walk"?" I had a trial of the premium but asked for a refund.
Program is great, customer service is very poor. I paid for the service and was very happy with it. I logged out and could not remember my login info. I contacted customer support, I had the transaction number, date, amount, everything they requested. I literally spent hours on this all to no avail. I was given instructions that sent me in repetitive loops. So I have a premium service, which is completely useless now. I typically detail all my login info but did not this time for some reason.
Nope. Grammarly insisted on adding unnecessary commas without considering the length of the phrase. It also misunderstood words that were a clear typo for nouns that needed be capitalized. I confess that I was using the free account, but if this is the level of corrections and insights Grammarly offers, then I'm not interested. It is not for the good writers that want to be great, it's for the not-so-good who want to be good. Not my cup of tea. And I'm not even a native.
I had a problem with accessing my Premium and needed assistance to reset the password. The response was slow and did not resolve my issue. I was unable to cancel my subscription either. Initially, when it did work for me I thought the program was useful, but if you run into problems there is no satisfactory help. Would not recommend on this basis.
I paid for Grammarly via a special. I got one year for $99. I did not sign up for auto renew. I was just charged $139.95 for one year via Paypal without an email warning me that my subscription was running out or my consent. I have asked for a refund in writing given the fact Grammarly has no live customer service staff. Terrible user experience. Not work $140!
Millions trust Grammarly? ۪s free writing app to make their messages, documents, and posts clear, mistake-free, and effective.
