What a horrible experience. I gave clear instructions to the Govberg employee about the repair of my 30 year old Rolex. When the watch was finally returned, it had not been repaired as I had requested - a huge mistake that ruined the sentimental value of the watch. I learned that the original employee had subsequently been fired for what Govberg admitted to be poor service and numerous mistakes. However, Govberg just made excuses for the employee's error. Govberg was dismissive and refused to take responsibility for its employee's incompetence. And I had to pay $732.00 to get my watch back! Seriously - TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE.
Govberg / The WatchBox is a great company. They have Amazing inventory and excellent service. The WatchBox is a solid company and Peter Bell is the man to work with. He is a true pro and has been one of their top point men for many years. I have purchased a number of watches from them and have been very happy.
Tim Mosso is a genius and amazing watch review expert. He is the encyclopedia of watches and great to watch on YouTube. Thank you for keeping him on staff for such a great information source!
I recently completed a Patek watch trade with Brian Govberg. His service was excellent, the process smooth, and the deal fair. My thanks to Govberg and I will be a return customer!
In my opinion they are not worth the stress and heartache. I have now had, shame on me, two very negative experiences with Govberg. I collect nice watches and they are amongst the worst (in my opinion) at providing fair trade in values.
Patek Trade - The first experience was with trading in a Patek 5960 where they offered me -$5k less than a leading competitor but promised they would absolutely take care of me during my next purchase of a rare/expensive timepiece and I was foolish enough to believe them. Went to buy another piece from them and heard a song-and-dance about how they could not discount the watch because it was hard to find, etc. I then asked them which piece amongst three brands (over $50k) they could discount and heard crickets.
Richard Mille RM010 Lemans - Second experience was when I when to trade my Richard Mille RM010 and they offered me -$18k less than a leading competitor, making up some "noise" about whether or not it had been recently serviced. I, of course, turned them down and received +$18k from Watchfinder.com.
Lastly, I was told I would be put on a VIP list and offered new releases on Patek, Rolex, etc. and when I saw new examples being released and called them (they never called me) I once again heard crickets.
In my opinion if you want to pay full retail, get a lot less in trade value, I would highly recommend Govberg Jewelers.
Just purchased a watchband for my Patek Philippe watch. The service was terrific! Wouldn't think twice about recommending these folks...
