I called today to close my account, however I was informed that the account has now been cleared. This was a scary wake-up call. I have to decide whether to leave the metal there or move it. I do not yet know. Changing my review to three stars from one...
I saw these reviews about a year ago and assumed that a competitor to goldmoney was behind the horrible reviews. As a goldmoney client for well over a decade I simply could not believe all of the bad reviews and stories about being unable to withdraw funds. I had been totally satisfied and felt that my holdings were secure.
I have changed my mind 180 degrees. Goldmoney has frozen a 13 year old account (that was fully verified) and is demanding financial information from me from over a decade ago. Not even the US Internal Revenue Service goes back that far. I am absolutely shocked at the ridiculousness of the information they are asking. There have been zero transactions in my account for several years - it has just been sitting there quietly - which is what I thought precious metals were supposed to do.
I thought it was smart to diversify pm holdings internationally but am now thinking I was a fool.
I have read some reviews on Goldmoney here. What the hell you guys are pondering here about?
Goldmoney is top. I have a card with them- works like dream. Upload your card and off you go shopping, spend your grams. Recently i have tried to send myself physical coins from them too. No problem, i received those shiny ones here in europe in about 2-3 days.
I find many of these comments simply not true. It is true that it takes long time to get yourself verified by the them. But once you are through- you get yourself a Gold Standard Service!

Customer service is horrible...
"VERIFICATION IN-PROGRESS Verification review of your Holding is currently in progress and typically takes five business days."
It's been over two weeks and I'm still struggling with the KYC process. Which simply does not make any sense, as I have many financial accounts, some with far more stringent KYC requirements... and somehow, GoldMoney is making this process infinitely difficult, maybe even impossible.
Now I have to fight to get my initial test deposit refunded back to me.
Horrible experience.
Given my experience of the GoldMoney customer service, well, I would not want to go through this again.
Nor would I recommend their service.
One last thing... I just realized they are a Canada company. This is unbelievable.

Had an account with Goldmoney for years, no problem putting money in and withdrawing when I needed to. Just recently I decided to close my account and withdraw my holdings completely. That's when the game playing started. I received an email from them asking for all sorts of documents to be sent to them in order to withdraw my funds. No problem selling my shares, but a REAL BIG PROBLEM GETTING THEM TO RETURN My FUNDS! STAY AWAY from this company. Be aware that if you already have an open account with them, they will do everything they can to get you to KEEP your funds there instead of withdrawing funds when you want to. After sending them a long list of documents they requested, the next step is to try to get you to move the money into other types of accounts or a credit card or bitcoin - all accounts they control. I finally fought with them and eventually got my money wired out and closed my account, but it took a lot of threats and jumping through hoops to accomplish that.

I read negative reviews regarding the ability to sell gold and withdraw. I did a test, sold some gold, and withdrew in less than a day. Perhaps some people are having issues with the legal requirements of the country you live in because it seems pretty straightforward to me.

Yes, I should have read the Terms and Conditions in more detail. I did read them. I don't recall seeing that " you can not get a penny of your money back, that was not invested in metal first." That means, if you leave any extra money in your account, and that extra money is not invested in metal -- it becomes the property of GoldMoney. They should say that up front, but then who would give them their money?
The help staff makes the appearances of an effort.
Overall, if this was a solid, customer-oriented company, they would be FAR more transparent and concilatory to their customers.

After my experience and reading other reviews about Goldmoney I am surprised that this company still is in business. It is a fraud. They will take your money and never give it back. The customer service is lousy. Their home page where the redeeming is does not work.
And if you might get something back, you are ripped off with hideous transfer fees.
I deposited 100 2-3 years ago and now I have been fighting for months to get at least some of it back. This company should be closed down regarding how it treats it customers, at least those who have made small deposits.

We are a publicly traded online custodial service and have some of the lowest fees in the industry.
Goldmoney's fee structure is designed for the active trader only. If you do not trade sufficiently every month, before long, your holdings will disappear in no time.The worst part is they do not adequately inform you of this at the time you purchase your first metals, and do not directly inform you as they drain away your metals in order to pay the fees. The lack of transparency far outweighs any the benefits of globally dispersed holdings. Stick to working with a trusted financial institution

I opened an account a few months ago and sent 100 usd just to test thing out, and i am so glad i didn´t send more money than that! The verification process has been "ongoing" for THREE MONTHS! I contacted them 5 times already and, when they reply, they keep saying the verification is being done and they will contact me if they need more documents. Bear in mind that without this verification process, that they are not doing (!), i can not withdraw my money! I regreat ever trusting this company!

I have my accounts verified already for 3 years, until now No problem at all. But since last September I can not take my Money out, I tired already to talk with the Customer Support, but even if I prove my name again with my Passport and the details on my Profile, Goldmoney is telling me that my Name is Not Correct, with my Bank Details. My bank is: Deutsche Bank (one of more biggest bank in the world), but for Goldmoney, that is Not a Commercial Bank.
I think that Goldmoney is already a Scam, now I am trying to get in touch with the Anti Fraud department in Canada.

Getting money out is very hard unless you use an account they approve they charge way to high of fees, I still haven't been able to cash out, its a rip off for the most part I would avoid this company for sure, my bank rejected the transfer from them, I asked them why and they said they where not trusted. Basically there are better places to invest or put your money with less fees and easier to get your money out. They won't write you a check or use PayPal etc...

After 5 years of holding gold, Ive sold the asset and tried to wire the money back. THat was a month ago. My account is pending and I keep just hearing - its been escalated, we are working on it. Basically I cannot reach anyone by phone and I cannot access my funds. This seems like fraudulent activity and Im clearest not the only one.
Everything was fine for years but that changed a few months ago. GoldMoney has a new policy of freezing accounts every time they request information. It could be anything such as address confirmation or phone number or even source of funds info from many years ago. When I became tired of all the hassles and tried to close my account I was informed of another policy. I was not allowed to withdraw my money. I was shocked. I thought my money would be safe at GoldMoney but now I'm afraid because they are freezing so many accounts. Hopefully someone can help me get my money back.
My experience has differed from the other posters. Been using Goldmoney for a month or so. Yes the sign up process requires some patience but over all has been a great experience.
Never bought more than a few silver coins before but now own some gold too. Pretty cool service imo.

After over three weeks of trying to have my wire transferred funds released, with no success to date, I repeatedly receive a false commitment from their customer service group that it is being processed and will be available shortly. Email responses to questions or inquiries take over a week to receive. Not worth the frustration to invest with this poorly established firm. Do yourself a favor and invest elsewhere.
