Glen Stephens AKA 'The Sheriff' or 'Global Admin' on his Stampboards site is a truly awful individual. He uses his forum to post derogatory comments to innocent forum members. He is a narcissist and a bully. He is arrogant and derisory and I would advise ANYBODY even considering doing business with this man to take your money elsewhere. He will edit your profile, edit your posts, and refuse to delete personal information. He is a bully, and has no place in the stamp community. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
On Monday evening I ordered a carton of ten black-page Lighthouse stock books from Glen. They arrived just now (on Thursday morning)! They are awesome, extremely well-crafted books! Really very well double packed. And, the promptness of the delivery, truly outstanding. The price was very fair. In particular, I really loved the way Glen considerately attached the carefully franked stamps to the package (photo of stamps attached). A true gift to his customers! And, the two enclosed complimentary stamp magazines were very much appreciated. On the basis of this one dealing, I am a very big fan.
- Editing/deleting the post of others for his own interests. If he purchased from other members at a low cost, he would delete the ad and add 80% to 100% and re-post it as an offer to the stampboard members. Hmmmmm good business model indeed
- Whenever you send a message to other stampboard member, it reaches Glen's email box first. Yes that's right, he reads every single word you've written, before forward it to the member that you want to contact. Of coz if there is anything he is unhappy with the message will never arrive.
Many great members on Stampboards, and much useful information, however ruined by Glen Stephens. He has no qualms about editing or deleting others posts, especially those that suggest he is mistaken. Absolutely despicable character, he even registered another dealers name as a website. And an embarrassment to the philatelic community.
Reached out to Glen to ask if he had any discounted stamps for our wedding invitations as we were sending quite a few and they needed to be large letter postage. Glen was kind enough to send me special occasion stamp booklets (even though I had only ordered regular stamps) and had them in the post extra fast. Thank you! Our guests will love it.
Glen Stephens is the self-named Sheriff of his forum site, stampboards.com. What you enter in his forum will most probably be re-written by himself. If you challenge him, you will be banned! A most unfriendly person and egotistical. Advice? Stay away. This is only stamps after all. We all enjoy our hobby until someone tries to ruin it.
Not sure why the negative reviews. I have dealt with Glen over decades as buyer and seller, and made one recent return. I have not had any problems or concerns. Emails good, clear, and helpful. Website very detailed. Delivery quick. Happy to recommend him as a dealer.
Glen is an abusively rude megalomaniac. Why anyone associates with him is beyond me. I choose not to and highly recommend anyone new to stamp collecting do the same. You may find his board useful in terms of posting an image of a stamp and having it identified and you may run into some friendly and interesting people there ~ but I will not associate with someone like Glen Stephens.
I have been having problems with Paypal. I have the same name as a Australian Cabinet Minister (the Roads Minister in Qld) and my account was put on restriction. Long story short I was getting no where. Glen Stephens took my call, listened to my problem and gave me some helpful suggestions. No benefit to him other than happy to help me. Cheers.
Totally a tosser...? Do not even try to comment on anything that Glen Stephens do.nt agree with. Totally self centred and edits any posts you put up to suit himself... cant believe people still deal with him. Just a vulture waiting on hiss next innocent victim. Anyone in the market to sell or value... AVOID. YOU WILL GET RIPPED OFF!
I have known & purchased stamps from Glen for 40 years. He is a tough businessman, & tells it as it is. He has an excellent knowledge of all things philatelic. He is a colorful character who often offers the best deals by far in regards to purchasing stamps and accessories. What he says about auctions is true. There are fees everywhere at auction houses, whether you are a vendor or buyer. He is a master of sending mail orders, and under that tough exterior, he is really a very nice person
A braggart and a bully who thinks he knows everything when, in fact, he knows very little. You could not find worse example of humanity to do business with unless you come from the rarified higher echelons of collecting (ie - as member of the RPS or similar). Save your sanity and money by avoiding this charlatan like you would a dose of bubonic plague,
Glen is a 75 year old man who has no friends apart from a couple of fellow curmudgeons.
He edits many posts on his old-fashioned bulletin board, usually after he has acted like an old drunken jackass again
Unfortunately, my experience with this guy is similar to many others. He is a bully and megalomaniac. A few years back I bought the "latest" SG specialised catalogue and some stockbooks that were supposedly as good as lighthouse, but without the price tag. When I pointed out that the SG catalogue was in fact the previous edition and I didn't think the stockbooks were nearly as good as lighthouse he was abusive and threatened to kick me off stampboards if I didn't shut up. He also complained about me not thanking him for a few old magazines about coins (of no interest to me) and other crap he just wanted to pass onto someone else I suspect.
Fully agree with most reviews of this thread - should have read it before dealing with him. He has always been intentionally disguising the value of stamps as a buyer, while selling extremely high prices to Stampboard (also known as SB) members. Curious to know if SB is the abbr. For Stephens Buyers or Stamp Bunnies which Glen always used to call other stamp collectors...
This particular individual is also the owner of the Stampboard, where he is also the moderator and so-called "sheriff".
Woe betide anyone who disagrees with this egotistical narcissist who heaps abuse onto anyone who asks what he considers a stupid question - especially new members, many who are driven off after a post or two.
But what is worst about the "sheriff", is that he is not beyond editing posts that disagree with him, and changing them to look as if they are supporting his point.
As the board owner, he would be in his right to delete posts he doesn't like, but to instead edit them so as to agree with his point of view is completely unethical - this does not bode well for his business practices, he is best avoided.
Hello, I wanted to show my work in the stampboards forum and he edited the title to his liking putting things uncertain, he also edited other messages, when editing it he put a point (·) and for that reason I know that he edited more than one message, very unhappy with it, grat forum but regular admin.

Kind regards!

I was on this stamp board
I've never been talked down to by anyone as he does to new members, post a question and he'll "rip" you apart to make himself look good,
Dont post an image and he'll go mental.
Post yours stamps and he'll say they're fake, rubbish ( belong in the trash) you get the idea.
Not many new members stay on the site, some of the members there are good but they all seem to have brown on their nose that belongs to glen.
Glen seems to spend most of his time on that board sneering at other members lack of knowledge, bragging, mention you've got a rare revenue stamp this guy will have several mint sheets of said stamp.
Never mention ebay! I've heard he got kicked off ebay for selling fakes many moons ago, i've heard this from several different people,
If he hears the word ebay he goes into a rant, go and try it, its very funny this guy is easily round up,
But anyone wanting to sell or buy please stay away.
This dealer has put me off stamp collecting. He uses his forum to cherry pick rare stamps from members and accuses people of wasting his time if the example is common. He doesn't view it as a hobby only a business for him to make money, hence his objection to "time wasting"
GLEN STEPHENS IS A LOW LIFE THIEF!
He will rip anyone off, just like me and others!
I posted a stamp collection to him for valuation. I know some of those stamps were rare and worth a lot of money. All he could do was tell me that they were worthless junk and deposited $70.00 in my account. That thief would not return them and a week later after I still complained he told me they were all auctioned for virtually nothing.
He should be closed down. I wonder how much he really got for my family collection.
$100,000.00 plus I would imagine from the right person.
Im still spewing over it. Those stamps had been in my family since the 1800's.
Ill bet he is wealthy from all the poor unsuspecting people he has been ripping off for so long!
Answer: Depends on what kind of stamps they are and from which countries. But I know for 99% the answer to your question is NO. He will probably tell you your surplus stamps are worthless junk (he will really use these words!) and are a waste of his time. He offers maybe $10 if you are lucky and if he can sell the lot on Stampboards as a "Junque lot" for $50. IMPORTANT piece of advise: DO NOT send your surplus stamps to him without contacting him first. He will NOT send them back if he is not interested or only if you pay the postage costs.
Answer: Bought for 7 years and good prices even after checking around
Answer: I do all my orders by email and order forms - works fine
