I received a gift card for $100 and it was issued by giftcard.com. I never used it and when i was going to use it they said declined. So i check on the web site and i had to activate the card. After activating the card it says that the balance was zero because they charged some dormant fees. What a crap. If the card is not active why would charge dormant fees. So basically once someone buys a card the card should be active, you should not have to activate the card. So never by from them. Then i have another card for $100 also not activated and somebody charged $75 for a purchase on ebay. How is that possible if the card is not active.

4/22/14 I used the giftcard.com website for the first and last time. This company lists many retailers as merchants offering discounted gift cards. However, the truth is that the site makes the customer enter all of their personal information and credit/debit card and THEN waits to see IF the merchant is offering the discounted card! WTF. Why not just offer what's available? And, why does it take giftcard.com 3 hours to verify if they have the discounted cards or not. Sounds like false advertising to me. And, probably falls under the Consumer Protection Act - Unfair & Deceptive Practices. Contact your Attorney General if you get taken like I did! :(( (

Well my review hit a nerve with Tom C from giftcards.com. He first responded not with an apology or concern, but, with a defensive attitude stating I must be confusing the site with another site (giftcard.com - ya know without the "s"). I carefully reviewed the site and confirmed I had the correct site. Tom C sparred with me for 4 emails in which he was condescending, defensive and rude. He avoided all my direct questions; such as "Does the website list gift cards that are actually NOT available to the consumer?"

Bottom line - at some point maybe the card(s) were available but if the site sells out of a specific gift card, giftcards.com doesn't necessarily remove that card listing. How nice!

But you bet they don't tell the customer until AFTER we enter all of our PERSONAL information first, and they capture it. Data mining may be their actual business.

My complaint went out and so should yours to the Attorney General in your state and that of giftcards.com in Pennsylvania so the business model and practices are changed.

Send him your FU as I did.

It appears you have us mixed up with another company. The experience you describe is not how GiftCards.com does business. We have our own inventory of discounted merchant cards that we purchase from our customers. We do not purchase them from the merchants themselves. You referred to GiftCard.com multiple times in your posting. We are not them. We are GiftCards.com, with an S. 2 completely different companies. We respectfully request that this review be removed as you are clearly referring to a different company. Thanks.
