“Excellent shop”

Gemgazer is an online-shop that is especially notable for the unique gems on offer. Most of the gems are collectible items, meaning they're either rare minerals or have some kind of special shape, color or other properties. Because of this, there are many specimens that turn out to be great gifts for people who are not necessarily enthusiastic about a "run-of-the-mill" cut gemstone, but may really appreciate a special cabochon, or a clear gemstone of a particularly rare color. Many of the more expensive gems also have impressive color-change or reflection effects. Of course, gems are also excellent investments, seeing that they generally keep their value. Compared to other online-shops, the prices here are quite fair. The occasional item may be more expensive than usual, but that's often because the piece is unique and therefore also more precious. This is not to say that I would recommend anyone to invest their money in unique gems, as they are probably harder to sell than average gems. But it's always nice to own items that are both valuable and non-perishable. The owner, Jon, is very friendly and motivated and an enjoyable contact. That's actually the main reason I always come back to this website and check the newest additions. It's great to know who you support with your purchases.

I have ordered several loose gemstones, minerals and fossils from this website in 2017. Jon, the owner is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about what he sells. He knows great technical details about mineralogy, including things such as inclusions and micro-structures in the mineral specimens. The site includes microscopic images of the stones for sale along with technical descriptions. Jon is very quick to ship purchases and to answer any questions about what you are buying. Some of the interesting specimens I've bought from here include a piece of fossilized mammoth ivory, and an artificial gemstone called Linobate; both of these are rare collectors items.

Tip for consumers:
Don't be afraid to email the owner if you have any questions about the item you want to buy. He answers very quickly and he has a great deal of experience in gemology.

Be aware that the shop is in the UK and prices are in pounds; make sure to calculate in your currency before buying.
