Carrie worked so hard to help us get our lease signed...we were having issues by no fault of FirstKey, it was our mistake and she answered emails late at night, called me back first thing in the morning. We talked and talked trying to get our issue taken care of and she did it! We are signed sealed and delivered! I would give her a 10 star review if that was an option! Cant wait to move into our new home! Thank you!

Additionally, when I sought to escalate the issue by requesting to speak with a supervisor, my calls were abruptly terminated. I would caution prospective tenants against doing any business with this company due to their failure to address legitimate concerns and their apparent indifference towards customer satisfaction. Proceed with caution.

***3/13/2024 - I had a local news channel contact me wanting to hear about my personal experience(s) with Firstkey Homes & additional details regarding the mountains of negative reviews!

***3/12/2024 - I guess I have to create yet another bad review, just to get a member of the local office to call me. It's pathetic. Please, before leasing from this company, read the reviews on Google & the BBB, and go join the Facebook page "Firstkey Homes Tenants". My god, some of the stories people have shared about how this company has treated them is just awful. Please do your research & don't become the next victim.

**3/12/2024 - This company is attempting to raise the monthly rent $635 more then what the when I first moved in just 2 years ago. In November 2021, rent was $1845, they are now trying to charge $2480. Keep that in mind when looking to move into a Firstkey Homes owned &/or managed residence.

Horrible experience with this company. Have been a tenant of theirs for roughly 2 years. Maintenance request go unresolved, random harassing fees added to monthly invoices, utilities getting turned off due to non payment on FirstKey's part (utilities remain in their name), etc. I don't even know who my Property Manager is or not do I have a direct point of contact. Do your research before applying for residency with this company, they are border criminal behavior.

Hi I've been a resident 5 years about two years ago my water began being disconnected periodically come to find out my no occupancy of tenancy inspection was done so they couldn't put water in their name the became fed up with the village and gave all of the tenants that lived in that village 60 day notice told us we can reapply with first key homes but my application was denied because of credit then a supervisor got in touch with me and said because I'm on section 8 I should've been approved without credit check and the I was approved first house squatters moved in second hse after months of me kinda staying on the lady it past section 8 inspection but the couldn't past the village inspection 3rd hse 2 months after signing my lease and me driving like 30 miles to give my paperwork to the office they sent it to section 8 then didn't show up for two inspections… Then I get a email from the property manager saying she accidentally took me off the house and the immediately rented it to somebody else and it's nothing I can do but I can contact there leasing agent and start over I've been living on a month to month for a year my stuff is packed. This situation is so stressful I'm disabled with children I have heart problems I'm in and out the hospitals 3 surgeries since this has started for blood clots….

FKH approved me for a house. I payed the deposit and signed the lease.how come a week later someone else moved into our house.FKH claiming it was squatters. So squatters can take the lock pad off the door, decorate their house for Christmas and park their car in the driveway?And to this day, they still living there? No.FKH was sloppy in this process. They gave my rental to someone else. I don't trust them and they are liars!

I signed a lease and paid a deposit on a unit i was approved for. Why is someone else living there within a week of MY APPROVAL. How is it that you let someone else move in under my lease agreement? And didn't bother to call and let me know. Why approve me for a house and not follow up with it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FIRST KEY HOMES TO ANYONE. ALL THE REVIEWS WERE RIGHT AND THEY ARE TRASH!

This company is the worst. It's hard to get in touch wit the local office about problems in the home. 7301 Ashley oaks dr had a pipe bust while we where out of town. Came home to the house flooded. They terminated our lease instead of trying to put us an another home. Da house was deem unlivable, and we Ben having trouble with this company since the first day of move in. When you go to the local office off Kirby and quince they are rude and unprofessional. Since we moved our stuff out they have the house up for rent with out doing the inside. The house had mold, water damage and under tub hell of mold they didn't wanna clean because the said it would cost them to much. Pipes underneath the house back up and they sent someone out to fix it. They gave them the estimate on how much it would cost to fix, they turn it down saying again it cost to much. I have pictures to prove everything I'm saying wit all the emails requesting them to come fix it

Beware! My property manager Jessica is embezzling money in the Jax/Orlando area! Very unprofessional and needs to be fired! Please look over your utility bill! Call the local utility company to get your original bill! I'm supposed to get a credit but I'm calling a lawyer. Get THIEVES LIKE JESSICA OUT!

This was a terrible experience for us. Company communication and customer service was terrible. We asked for a refund 24 hrs after the application fee and were denied. We spent a couple hundred dollars which was unreasonable on a application fee. Would never use this company or recommend this company to anyone. A complete scam!

From flooding, to black mold, to months without AC and plumbing, they hire cheap, un professional, illegitimate craigslist contractors in their personal cars to do horrible work. Which leads to further problems when repairs are not addressed. They FRADULENTLY check work orders as completed when they are not. When you call in, they say the put the work order in, but half of the time they don't. They made me pay for a mold inspector to check for mold due to their worker's incompetence's with fixing the roof - which led to flooding. So I have to pay out of pocket to check the mistakes and damage caused by who they choose to hire. Lost property / negative impact of stress on health / long term respiratory risk, and did not compensate one penny to make the situation right. First key does not care for human life. They refuse to allow me to break lease to move to safety. My property managers are Theresa Gonzales and Connie Cisneros.

The move in team was great no complaints there. Now the customer service was poor. I would call to dispute a charge and no response back. The year or so I rented there I several times and nothing. The move out team that is there to collect Brandi was very nice at first but would try to negotiate payments she says I don't have time to follow up your payments every months. Her voice sounded frustrated and angry. Would never rent from a first key nor will I recommend my family or friends.

***To everyone who Firstkey Homes neglects call your city! I have so many horror stories. I have wasted so much of my life stressing, calling and emailing getting nowhere! I called the city of Deltona they were so helpful and easy to talk to on the phone. At my door within an hour apologizing it took them so long to get to me. Insane!
Now they will do all the work and if Firstkey Homes does not do what they are suppose to they will pay and the city will deal with them, not me.

I would give zero stars if I could! Do not even waste your time and money with this company. They are the worst! Customer service is incompetent, maintenance requests are cancelled and you're not even contacted about it, the utility billing is posted late and then you end up paying double for the following month. Absolutely unacceptable service!

Impossible to get in touch with management. My wife and I moved in a little over two months ago, and I have not been able to pay rent using the online portal due to fees on the account by past tenants.

I have spent numerous hours on the phone and on hold with first key, and have now been told that he would be removed for the third time.

Anytime you call for assistance with your rental, it puts you through to an off-shore customer support center that usually says it will be 24 to 48 hours before anyone in your local office can reach out.

When the local office finally does reach out, they insist that there's nothing they can do about an issue or just pass you off to another department.

My wife and I have still not been able to get the key tar mailbox, or receive an email at our address.

Absolutely disgraceful customer service and ethics for this company.

Do not rent with First Key Homes.
Never late on a payment, left home in clean condition, even spot painted before giving notice and moving. They came up with all kinds of ridiculous charges and refunded only $70 of $1275 security deposit. If you do rent, take pictures of EVERYTHING upon move in or they will charge you and lie saying all appliances were in new condition and charge wear and tear to your deposit money! I will never rent with them ever again!

Tip for consumers:
$70 deposit refund after 4 months of moving! Unacceptable!

This is the worst rental company! Two days after we moved in to our rental house the plumbing exploded! Pictures included as evidence. They did not respond to our messages or send a cleaning crew for 2 days! We had to beg them to replace the carpet and we continued to have problems with the house the entire time we were there. They would come out to inspect the damage (roof leaked, additional plumbing issues and lawn issues.) but they would not fix the problems. They are the absolute worst. Do not rent from them.

My house floods all the time. But they wanna charge me instead of fixing the issue. Was charged for plumbing even though the plumbers said it was because of sticks. But I was charged 2 months later a when asked why they said it was because of a sock in the drain. But NONE of the plumbers said it was a sock when I talked to them. My house still floods. But no one cares. I told them it still floods but Carol Manor says they won't remove the charge. But did say anything about my house still flooding. Horrible

We rented with the first key for 3 years. Every year they would increase our rent for more then 200 $ each time. They never provided us with the hurricane home shutters and when the Yen broke 2 windows completely they said it's our responsibility to install new and then finally replaced them like 7 months after. They AC was old in the house and we had to stay with no Ac for weeks and no heat in the winter. Slow to respond to fix anything but fast to take money and charge you for the service the landlord should pay provide to renters free Very awful never again we deal with them

Summary of the review is do NOT rent from FirstKey. If you need reasons why, have fun reading.

I don't even know where to start with this review because FKH was so bad to live under. During the application process they were great and attentive. They walked us through step by step to make sure everything was set, and then once we signed our names and started moving in, it's like they forgot how to communicate.

The ONLY reason I'm leaving one star is solely for the individual maintenance guys that came over when we put a request in. They were always very sweet and helpful. However, the amount of time between when we put the request in(multiple times), and when they were sent to us, was so unnecessarily long because FKH decided it wasn't something that qualified as a priority to them. As an example. We had 2 bathrooms in the house, and the master bath toilet stopped flushing. We put a request in and got no response. So 24 hours later we put in another request and they came back with "since you have two toilets, we won't be sending someone for a few days.". We called them and told them we needed someone to come over, and they eventually sent someone 4 days after the initial request.

Another big one is they're so incredibly irresponsible with your money. If you rent through them, you pay them and then they send that money off to the companies in charge of everything else. We were all very good at sending our rent 2-3 days before it was due. On 7/31/23, we lost our power for a total of 5 hours. When we called the energy company, they said they hadn't received our payment from FKH. After numerous attempts at contacting FKH, someone finally answered and actually had the audacity to try and gaslight us that we didn't pay our July rent on time even though it was paid 2 days before July. So this showed us that not only does FKH not know how to communicate with their tenants, but they don't even know how to communicate with the companies they should be paying on our behalf.

You would think moving out would be a relief because we no longer deal with them. 2 of us called on separate days at the end of February to verify that we would get a prorated rent since our lease ended halfway through March. We were both told by 2 separate people that as long as we call and pay with a FK representative, we'd have a lower rent to pay. They decided weeks later that rather than follow through on what they said, they were actually going to withhold our security deposit and told us we owed money and claimed that we're late on paying rent even though we had called and paid prior to March even starting. They're also claiming that there was severe paint damage in a bedroom that was used as a storage room where nothing was on the walls which means they're pulling reasons out of thin air to not give us our deposit back.

If you're looking to rent a home, rent from literally anyone else because there's no way anyone else is as bad as FirstKey.

We rented with Firstkey Homes for 1 -1/2 years. We left their property in new condition with no wear or tear in the carpet and wall. Notified them with 60 days move out date. We were asked to just lock the doors and throw away the keys with no move out inspection of the property. They sent a security deposit minus $318 for utilities. The problem is the check that was sent bounced at Chase Bank. Contacted management after 10 attempts with no resolution. FirstKey has 14 days from the time we moved out to return our security deposit. I will be submitted a litigation in small claims court requested our security deposit which after 14 days will be double according to my states renter laws. We are very disappointed with FirstKey Homes. I don't recommend you rent with this company. Does not seemed like they are managed very will.

After your lease is up if they cannot find renters, they still charge you and put it on your credit they've done this to multiple people and they don't seem like they are going to stop anytime soon stay so far away from this company. It's not even funny they're crooks. They're thieves and they will ruin your credit in your life so if your new renter run away from them, they're terrible.

My family and I rented from FKH December 2022. A month after moving in we had several maintenance issues from the kitchen sink leaking, garbage disposal not working, back patio lock not locking or latching properly and lastly my HVAC system was out of wack. I had to put several work orders for all those issues mentioned and every time maintenance came they call themselves "resolving" the issues when in fact it wasn't! FKH will charge renters for every little thing. They tried to charge a maintenance fee for the garbage disposal stating that it was our financial responsibility when it was never working properly when we first moved in. They had us go through the whole summer with a broke Ac unit and did nothing bout it and it was hell having to deal with the unbearable heat all summer long because of the lack of urgency from maintenance bout the AC issue. Lastly we had to celebrate thanksgiving with NO working fridge! Our fridge was broke maintenance came out a few weeks before thanksgiving and stated a part needed to be ordered, at this point the freezer part was the only side that was working. The fridge was NOT. When the part came to the house we placed a ticket to have someone replace it. When that maintenance worker came he stated that it was the whole fridge that needed to be replaced and that he didn't know why the previous worker ordered a part ( this is was 2 days before thanksgiving). He made a few calls to his manager who he said told him that they will need to replace the whole fridge and that he would be back to replace it before thanksgiving! Well 2 weeks later we finally got our fridge! We had to throw everything we couldn't save! We had no fridge / freezer and had to throw away so much stuff because of this issue. FKH did not care nor did they offer to compensate for the lost groceries. I do not recommend anyone to rent with this company if you do I pray that you have a better experience then my family and I. Glad that we didn't renew because they told us last minute ( days before the renewal) that we have to moves anyways because they are selling the house!

Maintenance is such an inconvenience with the hours a tech is able to service an issue. I'm not sure how they haven't figured out a way to house on call techs. My house was marked "move in ready" yet I'm on my 3rd leak, 3rd a/c breakage, mold, incomplete tickets marked complete with no issue resolved. 0/10 do not recommend.

We have been without ac almost a week. It's super Hot in here 100 degrees
I have called and called and called and same response nothing has been done. We have a newborn and a elderly in this house in oxygen. We always pay on time and I don't understand why they would do this to us. What human can do this. We are in Houston weather our rent goes up but don't gets done. This will definitely be our last year here
They don't care about their tenants. Hopefully my husband can handle another night here. We don't have money for a hotel.

I HATE THIS HOUSE! PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS AND YOU ARE NOT ALREADY RENTING FROM THIS COMPANY, DON'T. MY AC IS ALWAYS OUT. WE JUST SPENT THE PAST 10 DAYS NOT EVEN BEING ABLE TO LIVE IN OUR HOUSE, THEY "FIXED" IT, BUT TODAY IT IS ALREADY NOT WORKING AND GETTING A HOLD OF ANYONE IS A NIGHTMARE! THEY REFUSE TO WORK WITH YOU. NEVER LATE ON MY RENT EITHER.
