DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! Horrible customer service, maintenance requests are never completed even in the heat of the summer when the house is over 85 degrees. Then they will have the audacity to charge you for someone to come out that never even fixed the issue. I was promised it would be credited back to our account & after months it still hasn't been. They rent out old homes, as is, for an insane price, then don't want to fix any issues with the house. I can't even begin to describe all the issues we've had with this house in the 2 years we've lived here. AC not working in the summer, heater not working in the winter, plumbing from sinks leaking into cabinets below, hot water heater needing to be replaced. It's been a nightmare & on top of that it's impossible to get ahold of anyone who works for the company that can help. It's a shame I even just resigned my lease because I can't imagine living here now another miserable year. Take my word & go elsewhere!
We rented with Firstkey Homes for 1 -1/2 years. We left their property in new condition with no wear or tear in the carpet and wall. Notified them with 60 days move out date. We were asked to just lock the doors and throw away the keys with no move out inspection of the property. They sent a security deposit minus $318 for utilities. The problem is the check that was sent bounced at Chase Bank. Contacted management after 10 attempts with no resolution. FirstKey has 14 days from the time we moved out to return our security deposit. I will be submitted a litigation in small claims court requested our security deposit which after 14 days will be double according to my states renter laws. We are very disappointed with FirstKey Homes. I don't recommend you rent with this company. Does not seemed like they are managed very will.
From flooding, to black mold, to months without AC and plumbing, they hire cheap, un professional, illegitimate craigslist contractors in their personal cars to do horrible work. Which leads to further problems when repairs are not addressed. They FRADULENTLY check work orders as completed when they are not. When you call in, they say the put the work order in, but half of the time they don't. They made me pay for a mold inspector to check for mold due to their worker's incompetence's with fixing the roof - which led to flooding. So I have to pay out of pocket to check the mistakes and damage caused by who they choose to hire. Lost property / negative impact of stress on health / long term respiratory risk, and did not compensate one penny to make the situation right. First key does not care for human life. They refuse to allow me to break lease to move to safety. My property managers are Theresa Gonzales and Connie Cisneros.
I was also denied after placing an application. I never received a letter or notification. I had to call them several times and leave several messages before I finally received a response back. My credit score is over 700, w know evictions, and I make more than the required amount They said, I was denied They cannot tell me why but to call Safe Rent Solutions the reporting agency. Wait you cannot explain why? Ok. I then called ( Safe Rent) they informed me they did not see anything that would hinder my denial but a $90 hospital bill that's due. Wait what! She explained, that the Rental company sets their standards to who they accept or not, their the ones who report to them. Feeling that I'm getting pushed and pulled. I called First key and they said wait for the letter from safe rent if anything is wrong, I can dispute within 30 days. I did. I got an approval but f house I want was off the market. I'm An Ex Ex Cilivian Contractor for Gov. Something is fishy here. I'm so curious to know what's going on with this company after seeing all of these negative reviews..
This was a terrible experience for us. Company communication and customer service was terrible. We asked for a refund 24 hrs after the application fee and were denied. We spent a couple hundred dollars which was unreasonable on a application fee. Would never use this company or recommend this company to anyone. A complete scam!
***To everyone who Firstkey Homes neglects call your city! I have so many horror stories. I have wasted so much of my life stressing, calling and emailing getting nowhere! I called the city of Deltona they were so helpful and easy to talk to on the phone. At my door within an hour apologizing it took them so long to get to me. Insane!
Now they will do all the work and if Firstkey Homes does not do what they are suppose to they will pay and the city will deal with them, not me.

Carrie worked so hard to help us get our lease signed...we were having issues by no fault of FirstKey, it was our mistake and she answered emails late at night, called me back first thing in the morning. We talked and talked trying to get our issue taken care of and she did it! We are signed sealed and delivered! I would give her a 10 star review if that was an option! Cant wait to move into our new home! Thank you!

Never late on a payment, left home in clean condition, even spot painted before giving notice and moving. They came up with all kinds of ridiculous charges and refunded only $70 of $1275 security deposit. If you do rent, take pictures of EVERYTHING upon move in or they will charge you and lie saying all appliances were in new condition and charge wear and tear to your deposit money! I will never rent with them ever again!
FKH approved me for a house. I payed the deposit and signed the lease.how come a week later someone else moved into our house.FKH claiming it was squatters. So squatters can take the lock pad off the door, decorate their house for Christmas and park their car in the driveway?And to this day, they still living there? No.FKH was sloppy in this process. They gave my rental to someone else. I don't trust them and they are liars!
I signed a lease and paid a deposit on a unit i was approved for. Why is someone else living there within a week of MY APPROVAL. How is it that you let someone else move in under my lease agreement? And didn't bother to call and let me know. Why approve me for a house and not follow up with it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FIRST KEY HOMES TO ANYONE. ALL THE REVIEWS WERE RIGHT AND THEY ARE TRASH!
Had basement flood 6 times. After 1st flooding plumber sent information to first key and they did nothing for over a year. Then when finally addressing they said they would discuss compensation for us for the property damage and hassle once the work was done. When completed they kept telling us there were open work orders so they couldn't discuss compensation. They left work order open until we moved. Took 4 months to repair a sidewalk with the tripping hazard. Took 5 months to resolve an electrical issue in the kitchen that cause circuit breakers to kick. Had a tree fall that blocked access to vehicles in garage, took 4 days to send someone to remove and when the tree fell a hole was created in the roof of the garage and was not repaired for 3 months, after we had moved out.
First Key is horrible. I lived in one of their properties and repeatedly asked for repairs. I could never use the porch/patio because of the broken cement. The walkway and steps were busted and the driveway. I had a family fall because of this. My oven didn't work for 4 months. Maintenance never came out to repair or replace it. I ended my lease early because of this. My bedroom was always freezing and they never came out to correct this problem after several request. I had to put plastic up around the windows because it was always freezing in the house. I had to use space heaters in every room. Then when I moved out. They slapped me with a $4300 bill. To repair things that was broken when I moved in. No screens in the living window. Etc. When I moved out they just said leave the keys in the lock box and did not do a walk through with me. Do not rent from these slum lords.
The move in team was great no complaints there. Now the customer service was poor. I would call to dispute a charge and no response back. The year or so I rented there I several times and nothing. The move out team that is there to collect Brandi was very nice at first but would try to negotiate payments she says I don't have time to follow up your payments every months. Her voice sounded frustrated and angry. Would never rent from a first key nor will I recommend my family or friends.
I have called several times to have them remove a tree. They have not taken care of this issue for well over a month. I know the city has cited them and they still don't seem to care. I feel sorry for any tenant if this is how quick they deal with an issue.
This might be the worst place i've ever rented. The house looked nice but had countless issued but they mever bothered to send maintenance. We were left without power/water multiple times because they never payed the providers in time. Oh and good luck tying to contact them because they don't know how to help you or they will refer you to some 3rd party who ony bills you based on some made up numbers. Of course a payment is demanded but they simply don't care about their residents. So do yourself a favor and stay away.
Apparently, a combined $12K monthly income only qualifies you for a $1,600 rental. Their rentals are way over market price anyhow and their call center is not local, but based in the Phillipnes. Thanks for nothing.

After your lease is up if they cannot find renters, they still charge you and put it on your credit they've done this to multiple people and they don't seem like they are going to stop anytime soon stay so far away from this company. It's not even funny they're crooks. They're thieves and they will ruin your credit in your life so if your new renter run away from them, they're terrible.
The experience with FirstKey Homes has been a disaster. Since day one we have had safety hazards in our home that have not been addressed. Their staff would come out and would leave without fixing anything. Currently, parts of our floor is missing and has created a fall risk in which I have fell victim to. I was injured and had to be away from work for a few days while I healed. I have a pregnant fiancé that has also stumbled but thankfully has not yet fallen. I have reached out to FirstKey over 10 times with these concerns and have not received one reply. We have been submitting tickets since our move in date and no resolution or response has been communicated. Because of these dangerous (potentially life threatening for our child) hazards we need our lease terminated and security deposit returned. I am prepared to escalate this to more public and legal action if we are not contacted shortly.
Maintenance is such an inconvenience with the hours a tech is able to service an issue. I'm not sure how they haven't figured out a way to house on call techs. My house was marked "move in ready" yet I'm on my 3rd leak, 3rd a/c breakage, mold, incomplete tickets marked complete with no issue resolved. 0/10 do not recommend.
My house floods all the time. But they wanna charge me instead of fixing the issue. Was charged for plumbing even though the plumbers said it was because of sticks. But I was charged 2 months later a when asked why they said it was because of a sock in the drain. But NONE of the plumbers said it was a sock when I talked to them. My house still floods. But no one cares. I told them it still floods but Carol Manor says they won't remove the charge. But did say anything about my house still flooding. Horrible
Answer: Impossible. They do not respond to your emails or voice message (and they never answer the phone)...that's even true if they contact you first. I received an email about my move out inspection. I responded. They didn't show up, nor did they return my 3 emails or 3 voice messages. Moved out without being allowed to attend the inspection. Then they charged me for stuff I'd already paid to have done. That's how they steal from you.
