I enrolled in a continuing ed. Course through NSCC/ED2GO. I paid approx. 2700. 00 dollars for this course. I am 65, disabled and unemployed. The reason I chose this course is because it is approved by the Mass dept. of unemployment for unemployment benefits extensions. I am required to login and complete a minimum of 20 hours of course work a week to maintain benefits thru this extension. It's now been 4 days, 3 support tickets and 3 support phone calls trying to get my user account login information for the course. I still haven't received a single response from any at NSMC or their proxy ED2Go. As a taxpaying citizen I really find this sort of unprofessional behavior reprehensible.
ED2Go has a 1.16 stars out of 5 on the BBB website.
It's parent company CENGAGE isn't accredited by the BBB at all. This should tell everyone, everything they need to know about these companies. THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY OR ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS! BUT WILL THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY?! YES! YES THEY WILL!
And now when I am finally and able to login what do I see?
WELCOME... You Have No Courses!
I paid NSCC and ED2Go 2700. 00 dollars for a course that apparently neither ED2Go or NSCC is aware of!?
DO NOT USE, PAY OR OTHERWISE INTERACT WITH EITHER ED2GO OR IT'S PARENT COMPANY CENGAGE. YOU WILL REGRET IT!
You will never get a person when you have issues that is not reading a script! Horrible customer service. A waste of $$. Nothing like a real certification program...THey act as if supervisors do not exist only student advisors with a standard script!
Ineffective Coursework:
The course material is outdated and does not align with current industry standards. It appears to lack depth and relevance, providing little value to students aiming to improve their employability. Furthermore, practical, actionable content that would genuinely prepare a student for the workforce is noticeably absent.
I purchased the course for cybersecurity and it's a true disappointment, what you do is just viewing powerpoints, and it's not at your own pace the labs are timed and they will never encourage you to continue, also you need to purchase the Pro version for Windows to use all the virtual machines without issues, the coaching is the worst thing and the people is so rude and inpatient with you if you don't get the topic, even they try they think you are stupid and wasting their time. I really recommend not to choose this as your option for studying this career, see other options, this is a total scam $4k to trash. Forgot to mention that their costumer service is S$&t and to ask a proof it will take you 3+ days for them to give you a a proof of studies.
I paid $300 for some Corporate Drafting courses. The classes are open enrollment every 3 months. I had an emergency and could not start the course. Ed2go refused to let me start the same course in the next 3 months. They took my money and basically said "to bad." They then claimed there was 14 day period, which I did not receive. I don't know any place where one takes classes and the school will not work with you in critical situations until now. Who has $300 to give away? If you have an emergency this company will say thanks for the cash! How will you know if you're going to have an emergency? Best to check with an actual school or another online service, this one is happy to take your money and run!
When I started the coding class, I was very excited and was able to get through the chapters easy. However, there was no really hands on help and when I completed the program and applied for an extership, our outside internship, they made it seem like there were several places to choose from, however I quickly received an email stating that I would need to find my own place- really? After it boasted about we will help you find a place to practices your skills? Total Fraud - the class itself was expensive and overall I feel like i did not get any value from this class. I have yet to take the exam, will do this in about three weeks, but after you finish the class, there is not option to go back and review - you are automatically cut off! I would not recommend this course at all - I wish I could get a refund - I could have done this on my own. Save your money people, not worth it.
I paid $2,495 for "Cisco CCNA Certification Training (Voucher Included)", well guess what? Apparently the exam voucher is NOT included unless you complete their absolute train wreck of a program. Save your money, there exists several FREE YouTube guides that contain much more in depth and easier to follow training for this exam.
This company pretends that it has connections to community colleges. It does not. It's website are so basic a junior h.s student could design better. Their overhead is obviously zero. Their "advisors" are robots. You cannot get through on the phone. The "book" they send you is photocopied and falls apart. There is no interaction on the courses, no peronsal or human element. No cool resources. Bare bones basic. For THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS NO REFUNDS. Tell me that isn't a scam. They can't stay in business too long when their whole jam is taking advantage of people. They know people deserve a refund, and they don't GAF. They only saying, I told you so! This is my first review of the company, but I will write at least 10 more reviews and will not stop until I'm sure that every google search for higher education turns one of them up. And ed2go can comment on it, and make it even more obvious that they despise their consumers. And don't care if they took thousands of dollars from a small person who doesn't have that! Leaches. Bottom feeders. No real intelligent business strategy.
I took the Pharmacy Technician certification course. The course was primarily comprised of reading, writing, and sparsely watching short videos. This did not feel like enough and failed to properly prepare me for the technician certification test (the ED2GO tests should have been more challenging and had more relevant questions). In addition, many physical books did not arrive until months later. For example, I completed the course in about 5 months' time. 7 months after purchase I am just now receiving a lab kit for the course. Overal, I am very disappointed in my experience and believe this company to be a scam.
I'm taking the software development certificate and I wish I'd seen this sooner. It's awful go take an in person boot camp. The instructor clearly wants to make you struggle your whole way through especially once you get to the major assignments which you cannot ask any questions on… I found that these assignments would be the best opportunity for questions to be asked… it seems like they knew they would have to be answering a lot of questions.
I think the instructors could have done a much more affective job of teaching this material. It's like a teacher giving information about a red hoop and they teach you how to jump thorough it. And you feel great, and they say now I want you to run, skip, and jump through 3 blue hoops. And you're like well we didn't talk about blue hoops let alone 3 of them and what's running and skipping? Then they say sorry we can't answer your questions now that your on to the project… Idk this course just really doesn't feel right. It's been hell! I feel like I'm getting it and then these assignments come around that are like remember what I just taught you... great... There's a lot that I didn't explain in these assignments. I just brushed over the concepts that I now want you to teach yourself about... like Dear instructor... I paid you to teach me and have me still like the topic at the end.
So I would recommend finding any other place to take this type of course because the same instructors wrote the other courses that are a similar topic…
Review:
The online course from ed2go was a disappointment. Once I paid, there was no support or monitoring of my progress. The course materials lacked depth and clarity, making it difficult to learn effectively. Additionally, there was no online community for interaction. I would not recommend this course due to lacking support and engagement.
This needs to addressed 20 years back one would find these shanty buildings around town that were called " Fly by night schools " which is a non credit, non transferable course, certificate course or courses. Your certification was of course a joke because it was outdated to begin.
We have heard about ECPI and ITT Tech school scams and the banks that took advantage of potential students in the 1980s. After that most these schools went bankrupt. Because of the post pandemic situation, the restrictions have been lifted for more online classes. Enter edtogo which is nothing more than these old scam classes and they have now somehow been labeled legitimate an have infected their way into colleges and their "WorkCenter adult education programs ". Since most are online and self paced the teachers in remote locations lead these classes. Most but all involve reading the book and answer questions maybe paper or two.
You can email the teacher but they limited compared say a flipping zoom meeting. Gone is any interaction between the students and teachers not real-time so the individual interaction is lost. This was the exact reason with those old "Fly by night schools" failed so here is a mental picture.old car new paint same broken engine. The interesting thing is the price difference. Let's compare 200 back in the day to now about $2000 to $5000 because they link at professional level test to become entry level certified. This gives a false impression that you will get enough traction to pass this test. Nope the subjects are rigged provide the absolute minimum. So unless you do outside preparation for those 90 test questions of course not even providing job opportunities edtogo gets a free ride. The colleges benefit with their blood money because they are making a scam become legit.
Honestly you're better off to prep for the exam then secure the book or knowledge and pay for the exam yourself. But hold on now.ohh you not allowed to take the sit in exam till you can produce a certificate of completion. What a catch 22.
It is diffently not worth it for the money and time. It is poor quality program. You can buy the same program from Udemy with much better contents and videos.
Unfortunately, I signed up for the Medical Coding course through Coconino Community College. After filling out online information form, I immediately received phone calls from fast-talking tele-marketers calling me, even over the weekend reading from a script, "You better sign up before the deadline." They even offered me a discount on the course. Presently going through this online course, I realize it will not prepare me, or anybody else, for Certification. Not only that, but it took them over two weeks after starting Medical Terminology course to send out textbooks. Sent (8) eight emails (can provide) and received emails back saying they're on backorder blah, blah, blah. They did not even offer a two-week extension for the inconvenience. Feeling duped and deceived, I did some research on Ed2Go, which is owned by Cengage. IMPORTANT: Cengage filed for bankruptcy in 2014, and was bought out by a Global investment group. I am disappointed in Coconino College for selling this course, which is just a shakedown for money that victimizes people hoping to acquire job skills. Like other posters here my refund was denied.
After signing up for a course that was found to be misrepresented and paying down a large portion of money on said course. The decision was made that it would be useless to pursue. After discussing dropping the course and receiving a refund we were told it was past the 10 day refund policy, however it could be transferred to a different course with a transfer fee and any nonrefundable fees. So either way we are in to this "school" for probably a minimum of $1000 with nothing to show for it and no knowledge gained to help in a career field. This is nothing more than a money making scheme. Save yourself the hassle and the money and stay away from ed2go.
Back on 2/15/2022, I was always interested in Medical Billing and Coding. Northshore Tech Community College and Ed2go were partners. The cost of the program was $2995. While speaking with a Salina, I made the down payment of $200 in two transactions($101.00 and $99). This left $2795 to be financed at 9% interest. Ed2Go used Launch Servicing to collect payment on their accounts and by March 10,2022, on account XXX******* I paid in full $2801 to Launch Servicing LLC. Then, I received a paid in full letter on March 11,2022 that my balance was paid in full on March 10,2022 and the credit bureau would reflect a $0 balance. I studied night and day for 6 months in order to gain employment sooner. I passed the Medical Terminology and Medical Billing and Coding course with "A." By the way, I still have not received my Certificate of Completion and today is 10/4/2022. During the six months, I tried applying for jobs in the Medical Billing and Coding field as an apprentice/entry level, but was unsuccessful in gaining employment. Ed2Go advertised an externship. After filling out a survey and emailing my resume Ed2Go was trying to assist me in finding a job. I was then told that Ed2Go really did not have externships in my course and I had to find an externship. I had just moved to Louisiana so was not able to locate a place to work.
I needed to take the CPC exam, I studied the online review, AAPC study guide and Practice exam, YouTube videos, reading guidelines from the ICD10 and CPT coding books. I added notes within these books. Fast forward to 8/16/2022, I logged into Examity at 11:15 for my 11:30 exam and was yelled at by the proctor for ten minutes to adjust the camera. I had never seen an exam like this one so time was a major factor. ED2GO's course had not prepared me for this exam at all. I scored a 69% out of 70%. I attempted the test on 9/30/22 and was still unsuccessful due to technical issues. I am asking for a refund Ed2Go, please help somehow!
When I enrolled in this class I had really high hopes for it because it's provided through a very reputable state school. I have been so incredibly disappointed to find that it's just a bunch of read, click, read, click. How is it possible that in 2022 anyone thinks that kind of 'learning' could be engaging? I was sure there would be some interaction or at least some videos to break up all of the reading. The most interactive it gets is when you can click on a box that expands to show - you guessed it - MORE READING. Let's get with the times. Students need to learn in fun and interesting ways in order to stay engaged. If I wanted to read for 3 hours a night I could have just bought the certification review book at a fraction of the cost of this program.
Purchased Full Stack Software Developer.
The first two units were extremely easy for me since I have prior knowledge of the topics. Moving into the following units I became so lost I couldn't continue.
In addition to that I have extreme extenuating circumstances preventing me from being able to proceed even if I wanted to. I reached out to customer service and explained my situation to see about getting a refund and they were very unhelpful, and were unable to even offer me a partial refund.
I wish I would have saved my money and just taken classes on LinkedIn or even just followed tutorials on YouTube.
SAVE YOUR MONEY!
From my experience, Everything was terrible, You are not gonna learn anything is basically just textbook and selftaught! I learn more on youtube than the actually program that suppose to teach you! Now i'm in my 2 month I have to pay the total amount $3000! Because I'm not learning anything! Nobody is gonna help you! The instructor that suppose to help you will take forever to reply! If you are reading this is either you are reading the reviews or you are already fall a victim in this scam! THis is not okay! Spread it so no other student would fall for this!
If you are taking continuing ed, classes, please do not click at the end of a Michigan Virtual class, where classes are offered. You will be mislead and lose money and time and energy. These courses are certificate only and it gets you nothing. I have lost money, time and credit taking classes here. It is unjust. Please, if you are taking classes for you teacher renewal, check with the State of Michigan and do NOT take ed2go,
Answer: Yes you can, Check with the Library in the Los Angeles area.
Answer: It's a joke. All online reading of old material, some articles are from the 90s. No instructor leading a video, just a 3 minute blurb and then references to pages from old articles and a few books that you can buy on Amazon.
Answer: No. It is a crappy online Continuing Education for universities and they give them a cut to allow them to be an 'Online' option. Some of the material in the lecture are articles from the 90s...
