The classes you take are not transferable to other schools. So you will owe thousands of dollars in student loans, and you won't be able to get the prospective job you were seeking.
The tuition is insane. They tell you that student loans and grants are going to cover your fees, and then they tell you later that you still owe them money. Getting an online degree I thought was going to be easy and useful but instead going to an online school is worse than attending a real school.
My wife and I attended ECPI University. I think the school is pretty good. We both graduated with honors. I just think a lot of individuals are not ready for that type of learning, and what I mean is an accelerated pace. I earned my Cyber-Security Degree, they keep you on your P's & Q's. I was previously educated in Computer Science. My focus was Penetration Testing/ECH. I think People are not focus, you cannot go into this program not focus. I think it is a decent price for a Cyber-Security Associates degree. I met some of the most skilled I.T. Instructors. They taught things I will never forget. Understand it is all on you if you failed, not the school, not the instructors. I notice a lot of the individuals that attended was obviously failing, which causes your fees to increase by retaking each course. We never failed, that is the key, be passionate about what you are studying. I notice students were more concerned about salaries than learning and perfecting their craft. All in all, do not blame the school for your lack of passion.
I'm currently in ECPI RN program and the program and some of the instructors are a joke. We currently have no DON, so In the interim the ADON is in this position. She also teaches a class she has never taught before and is a clinical instructor too. Which is a conflict of interest. Needless to say she reads from the PowerPoints. She talks about herself and how she has been a lactation consultant for 38 years. Well while she is admiring her own accomplishments, the students are suffering. They give you another dosage drug test after you have taken the class and passed it. You have to pass the test with an 85 or you can't continue to move forward in the program. Which the courses you only need an 80 to pass. Emailed the Dean and President, there 1 and only answer is sign up for tutoring. Well how about you get some instructors that know how to teach. Multiple students wrote the president/Dean about this matter and nothing done. This school is expensive and the teachers suck. I'm going to continue because I have too much money and time invested. If you fail a class the remediation is a joke and you still won't learn anything. Please don't attend this school, do yourself a favor and run like hell. Trust me I know, I'm currently living in this nightmare!
First let me say I'm empathetic to the people who haven't got the best from this school. I loooooove ECPI I went for my Practical Nursing degree and it was very challenging but definitely doable we started out with many and ended few but if you're dedicated and driven you will do just fine. I'm going back now for my associates in engineering and shortly after my Bachelors. You'll be AIGHT
Withholding a 20,000 degree for a 20$ book. 5 years later never got my degree i earned and paid for. Cant even get a job in the field at all. Waste of money and time dont come here
I have been trying to get contact on faculty at ECPI. Websites show NO e-mail/phone/faculty profiles. I've called 3 times, no luck. Call 1: The girl hang up on me stating she was there to enroll students ONLY. Call 2 - was sent from Raleigh campus to Charlotte campus... message said that there is no valid mailbox for the phone number I was transferred to. Call 3: After obtaining the Charlotte desk (thru the internet), I called them. Sent me to another mailbox that went to an actual voice mail. Maybe this will lead to me obtaining the information I need.
Got all the way through the RN program had one class left and was accused of cheating by an LPN teacher who had no evidence or proof, coincidentally there were no cameras to pull from this particular classroom and they took her word against mine (of course). I'm now in debt from student loans with no degree to show for it and no "real" answers as to why. I would hate to say it was racial discrimination but I know Caucasian people who were actually caught red handed but were allowed to stay enrolled.
$80,000 for an Associates degree, that explains it all right there. It's a scam online school with no real world training informatics to help students get work.
Jim Olson is willing to have Dean's List students indefinitely suspended by just saying "you know what you did and we won't tell you what you did." The school is filled with liars and cheats. Mr. Sullivan and John Olson are willing to **** you over.
I graduated from ecpi and every interview I went to never heard of the school! They go can't keep staff so several corsesa are thought by the same teacher a group of students and I tried to complain because we went getting what we pay for and the disorder was distracting but we got denied! Do not go to this school its a waist of time and money!
Worse experience ever. I felt they were satisfied more that I because they got my money and I got nothing in return.
They attempted to make what should have been in person at school virtual. Worse ever.
After being in enrolled for a little over a year now in their Cyber Security program, I can confidently say that you're going to be teaching yourself most of the material while being baby sat by these instructors. I go to the Virginia Beach campus and between the dated software they have us working on that is constantly crashing, condescending instructors, the unrealistic amount of information you have to teach yourself within 5 weeks, to the "hands on experience" that is mainly done through simulators and not real world equipment. It's not worth the time in my opinion and definitely not worth the money and that's coming from someone who's using a G.I. Bill so that should speak for itself. I went from working on my bachelors to settling for an associates to now dropping out all together after my next term. Solely due to the reasons I listed above and the simple fact that I've learned far more from an internship than ECPI. I'm just going to work full time at my internship and get my CompTIA certifications, because if you're forced to teach yourself you might as well put that energy and time towards certifications that employers actually want and look for.
This college is full of liars and cheats. You will be treated as nothing but $$$ because that's all you are them. You and your education don't matter to the staff at all. It is a waste of time and money. 36k for the LPN program more things should be cover but you will spend an extra 2000 grand out of pocket and they will drag their feet on scholarship until you either don't get them or they will refuse to refund extra money to you and will decide what loans they want to apply it to without even asking you and that will be after they take you banking information with the lie that you money will be refunded to you. Please do yourself and your wallet a favor don't go to ECPI.
I went into ECPI for Mechanical Engineering (as it's put on their site), but I realized after 2 months that it was MET instead. More digging and I realized they aren't ABET accredited, so their entire engineering program is worthless. Finally, I asked for a bachelors which they agreed to, then sneakily signed me up for an associates which I had to dig through their clunky site or old emails to find out about. Not to mention their very poor professors who towards the end of my stay got worse and cared far less. There was also never any calculus, or any classes one could call worthwhile. When transferred to ODU, almost every class counted as an elective credit, not a direct equivalent to anything. I feel lied to and used, and I'm just glad i got out before the debt got really nasty.
Oh, and the final email about class action suits isnt very comforting.
I went to this school for 14months! And didn't believe, when folk told me not to go! Wish I had listen, now I owe money for nothing! From day one they had no instructor for one of my classes. So pushed my graduation back a month. I had classmates, dropping like flies, but I stuck it out! To get stiffed! I was on the deans list 2 modes, and wasn't doing too bad.Be careful about classes, because they don't point out when you sign up, you can't fell 3 classes. I read you can't fail a class 3 times, and some of the teachers not all try to fail students and make things more difficult. A teacher who worked there before warned the students about how crooked they where with failing students. I started off with 20, I was the last one too go! So it's not a high graduation number, because you have instructors who shouldn't be instructors or nurses. Its the most expensive dump I seen! Please go to community college a lot more cheaper and more competent instructors and department heads
THIS SCHOOL SUCKS. MAJOR SCAM. They promise job placement. That's a joke. I went to this school as a single mom because I felt like it was my only option at the time. I would have been better off never having gone at all. I graduated in 2012 with a completely useless degree and massive debt. It's 2023 and thanks to used car saleman tactics, after YEARS of automatic payments of almost $300/month I still owe only $1000 less than when I started. AND it's only down that much because I paid two of my 9 different loans with them off in order to purchase a house. THIS IS FINANCIAL RAPE. I would love nothing more than to see this place go out of business. I went through this whole program only to find out that the field I wanted to go into was changing the requirements right before I graduated. Job placement? Ha. Freaking joke... you want to work for the school in VA while living in Raleigh and stating numerous times you cannot relocate? I wish to God I never went and had saved my money to give to a local community college. When I finally did go back to school (at a community college), there were so many classes I had to retake because their credits are no good. RUN RUN RUN and NEVER look back. Screw you ECPI. Another victim of the Raleigh NC "college." (And for what it's worth - that program was soooo awesome and successful they don't even offer it anymore...)
If you ever have any kind of crisis such as your Mother having Opening Heart Surgery, A Death in the family or even a freaking hurricane wiping out half of your family (Hurricane Dorian to be exact* don't expect ECPI to care. If your ready to go from a A+ student to a D- in 0.5 seconds because you could not make one day of class due to a family emergency or make a payment because you had to send your money to your family that had been affect by a hurricane then ECPI is not the school for you. Never in my life would I ever think a school could be so cruel and inhumane as ECPI. I would never recommend anyone go to this school!
I was enrolled in the AS for electronic engineering, but mysteriously they enrolled me into the BS halfway through my AS. Since the classes are 5 weeks long and go by fast I ended up taking courses I did not need to take. They pretty much screwed me there. The financial services are taking their sweet time to send me my final bill, and as shady as this college is I wouldn't be surprised if they send me to a credit agency before I even receive the bill. Also the classes are a complete joke. I can not even think of one thing that I actually learned. The big bonus is that NONE of my credits transfer to another college (except as electives, big whoop). Save your money and attend a real college or a community college. Hell I would take OJT from a elementary dropout instead of going to ECPI. I PRAY the military gets rid of its SOCNAV agreement with this college.
I was a student for about a couple months and just walked out when I found out a class I was taking was using the book twice in two different classes and charging 1000 dollars for each class... I went to the financial Dept to resign out of the college and they tried to then tell me I owed them which I didn't. Lucky I didn't but that same day I went and enrolled in Community College then graduated 4 years later and now I have a great career in IT and I have never looked back since. Please stay away from ECPI especially if your in the Military I saw a lot of kids get there GI Bill stolen. Oh btw they will steal your financial aids refund check too I seen it happen bad school seriously.
They try and push courses on you that you don't need. I would probably have to say the worst part about the them is just how unprofessional they are. You are better off going to a community college.
Answer: No IT is just as bad, if not worse. It is an evil school.
