Their guaranty is real bad, I ordered 5 plants, received 4, one of 4 was dried. When I called they asked me to send a letter, I did and no luck, then they asked me to send the proof of purchase, I did and told them you already have all my info in your computer as well as my credit card you charged, but talking to her was as good as talking to a wall.

Thieves!

Ordered over 40 dollars of plants. Took my money no problem. Should have received by now. Went to check my account with them, no mention of order, But my card was charged. Tried several times to contact, no response. Don't order from them

Ordered $170 worth of plants. The order took 9 days to get to my home after being shipped from Burgess. What arrived was of low to dead quality. After following their instructions prior to planting and then 16 days in the ground 5 of 10 roses are still dormant/dead, 5 of 6 raspberry bushes are dead, 3 of 4 blueberry bushes are dead, 4 of 5 Austrian pines are dead, and 4 of 4 Trumpet vines are dead. The only thing that survived was 16 of 16 forsythia are sprouting. I am tempted to make a complaint to my credit card to dispute the charge after the junk they sent. Stay away!

Horrible company
April 13, 2021

My husband asked me to place an order with Burgess after he received a catalog. I went to place the order and found that we could get free shipping. It would NOT apply.

After waiting for the order to ship I phoned the company. No matter what day of the week or what time I called I continued to receive a busy signal.

I then sent an email. I did receive an email saying that I would receive a reply in 4-5 business days. It is now TEN days, nothing from this company.

I requested to my husband that he NEVER again ask me to order from this horrible company.

Last year I ordered plants that went to my office and not my home. It was my fault. They said they would replace. I felt bad and saved the plants. Had an amazing crop. The lady I spoke too was very nice. Don't get these negative comments. I ordered again this year

I ordered plants from E-Burgess in April of 2021. They were very slow in arriving and when I finally got some of the order, they evidentially decided that they had sent enough (not all that I paid for, however) and were unreachable from that point on. I am still owed $13.99 for raspberry plants that were never sent and a few "freebees" offered by the company including a tomato plant and some bulbs. The website is still active, but email bounces back and I was not able to reach them by the phone number on the website. Do not order from this website.

Bought 12 HYBRID roses. Got dried twigs... 4 grew but had diseases and roses were very small. They were worst than the one I bought in my local supermarket. I called several times and they said I did not keep the original packing slip. Even though they had my information in their system! They sent 1 replacement it still did not grow. I took pics the same day I received the roses and pics of them DEAD. Still they did not respond to any of my calls. Worst part is they have my check! Real scammers! DONT BUY FROM THEM!

Order placed March 2nd all items were in stock. I tried calling multiple times. Line always busy. Finally got through about 2 weeks ago, said they were waiting on one plant. It should be in week of 4/17, but he couldn't say it would ship 4/17. They don't send an email to say item shipped, it's just surprise, your items came while you were gone. However, that's not my case. It's 4/26 I'm still waiting for my "in stock" items. Have tried calling numerous times today. Line is busy. I will never order from this company again.

I didn't receive my plants for over a month and a half. By that point, most of them were either moldy or dead. Customer Service is responsive, but then doesn't act on their statements. Very, very bad experience. If you use them, keep your packing slip--they won't even deal with complaints without it. Mine was so wet and torn I couldn't read it so I was SOL.

I ordered few trees from them, most if not all did not make it, and when I requested return, they wanted the original shipping slip after 6 month, they shipped the wrong trees and dead ones this is the last order I will ever buy from them.

I'm not sure what has happened to burgess as I had ordered in the past. Placed a $100 order April 28,2022. Called may 18 asking status. Received several little bags or something dead on June 25,2022 Both phone calls the reps tried to tell me my planting zone indicates we plant in June and July in our zone Michigan. It was 96 degrees when the very little bags or dust arrived. Got a credit. Was told to call two weeks prior to when I wanted them reshipped. Placed that call august 30. Was given a case number and told my shrubs would arrive in 14 days. They didn't arrive. September 30 was told the order was placed on a rush and would ship October 4-9. Well folks it's October 25th today and now I'm trying to cancel as the ground will soon be frozen here in the mitten state. Can't refund cause the order is packed to be shipped. When will it ship I ask. By November 4-8. Huh? Called 3 more times and think it has now been cancelled. Refund you may think. Nope they want to give me a merchandise credit. Really like I want to spend all next summer playing 'where's my plants' game. 4 calls later I think or at least they say I may or may not receive $60.89 of my $99 spent. At 67 years old this has been the absolute worse order/customer service I've ever experienced. I have several case numbers and several promises but in reality I don't believe I'll ever have a refund. When I asked to speak to someone who supervises the call center complaints I was told to call the same number back and push 2 again. Yeah - I may have been born at night but it was not last night. Someone needs to shut Burgess Seed down

Scam
May 19, 2020

I ordered 2 of the dwarf 5-in-1 fruit trees 2 years ago. At first, both arrived broken. I had to jump through hoops and provide the original shipping label with a letter via regular mail then wait several months to get replacements. Well, 2 years later, it turns out that those 5-in-1 fruit trees were actually just a crabapple tree and an invasive callery pear tree, both of which have only inedible fruits and get up to 50' tall, not the 10-12' as stated. I spent $80 on these saplings, and now I have to dig them up.

Horrible service - do not order anything from this site unless you want to wait months for delivery of products. AND they charge my credit card immediately. I e-mailed for status after 3 weeks, and received a vague response that it will shipped when it was ready. Today after 5 weeks, I tried to call to cancel the order and the first person I talked to was so rude and refused my request. She also refused to allow me to talk to a supervisor, and hung up on me. I called back and was able to speak to a supervisor who told me "don't expect quick service on any order" Too bad - they seem to have a good selection but business practices are non-existent. I wouldn't care for the length of delivery if my account hadn't already been charged

Not honest.

To all who read this. Please, please do not waste your money. Pay a little more & buy name brand or buy local and face to face. These people show nice pictures but ship total garbage and when you finally get through by phone or email they give you bunch of BS & want you to write a letter and all that junk. They even told me that I have to pay extra processing fee for their own mistake that they even admitted to it for add the missing item that they charge me for it once. They are listed under <>.
For me it is not the money any more, but the principle. People need to expose these type of bad businesses so the good one can survive. I will report them to Illinois Attorney general, Chamber of commerce, BBB, social media and anybody else that I find. They really pissed me off.

DO NOT buy from this scamming company. They mail you twigs, most of which will never grow or are already dead. Be aware they also have other catalogs under other names. Stay away from any catalog that sells plants. Burgess is a horrible company that should be put out of business.

I placed an order on 04-20-21. The phone #s *******761 and *******943 are ALWAYS off the hook! It's been 6 wks since my order and no products. I have sent multiple e-mails to *******@e-burgess.com and NO RESPONSE. I would sooner give 5 stars to products from China (which are horribly misrepresented) than give this any rating at all. Color me furious! :( p.s. I clicked one star in order to use this site. Obviously I give it a ZERO!

Don't order from Burgess
October 27, 2020

Ordered from Burgess in July, $99.00. Order came USPS in September. All of the plants were crushed and slimy. Some of the items even had been substituted with items of a lesser value. Called Burgress and they refused to adjust our bill. They wanted us to ship the dead plants back at our expense. Don't order from this company!

Burgess is the WORST plant/seed company. "Replacement Certificate #" for dead plants does not work. Chat with Bonnie unfortunately can't help. They charge your card immediately and to place a reorder comes back as "Invalid Certificate". AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Would not buy from company
Both times trees appeared dead upon receiving. Bought trees from starks co. Trees from them were healthy packed well and thrive. If there was a negative rating would give them one
Lost all money. Company seems to not care for product.

We placed the order in Feb 2016, it is now April, nothing shows up. I searched google map for this address from the website, 905 Four Seasons Rd, Bloomington, IL *******, there is no physical garden or nursery nearby, I then searched for the eburgess.com domain, it was registered under the address 1804 E Hamilton Rd, Bloomington, IL *******, again, there is no business location shown on the map.

I wonder if they may have renamed their business from burgess to bogus ˈbōɡəs'
