This company makes it very easy to sign up for a subscription, but very difficult to cancel. I tried to stop the service today and after an hour on the phone with two agents (the website links to chat or cancel were oddly not working) I was unable to stop the subscription. The reason? After providing them with over 5 pieces of identifying information, including the amount and last date the charges went through my bank, they were somehow unable to locate the account. So, they were unable to stop charging me. What? They explained that maybe there was a typo, or I didn't know what I was talking about regarding the email connected to the account. However, I pointed out that at that very moment when I was on the phone with them I was logged in to the account using the email I provided to them, so obviously the account is connected to that email. I think they are willfully ignorant when it comes to managing the database as this lets them make it very, very difficult to get a resolution for consumers, all the while continuing to charge customers. Somehow, when they want to get paid, they can find the account then, month after month.
1) It never flippin' works
2) If I use another website to cite, it has two COMPLETELY different citations, even though they're both MLA 8th Edition
3) All it does is let me put in the URL and it spins in circles
4) No need to do this. Just put the flippin' link in.
5) Sometimes the link doesn't work
6) Many times it says "this isn't a link." Uhhhh, yes it is dummy.
I'm a professor whose students often use EasyBib. EasyBib works just fine for most citation tasks However, EasyBib handles one task very, very poorly, and, unfortunately, this is the one task for which my students use it most often: if you use the "Website" option and enter a URL, EasyBib will_never_ give a correct entry for an article in an online newspaper or magazine, and it will only give a correct entry for another webpage if whoever published the website coded it correctly, using the work's actual title as the HTML title (and that doesn't even get into other details, like the publication date).
In short, though I know it's tempting to do the easy thing and just plug in the web address, it's just not gonna work, and you're better off just doing it by hand.
To many advertizments, That is only the first complaint about this site the second conplaint i have against this site is the fact that I cant even find a PDF and when going to the "support desk" they told me to do things i had already done 10 times I decided i would see if there was more details about what i could do but instead there an advertizment about how I should subscribe to the and pay money for the chicago format and more.
The f***ing thing wont work it gets stuck on an ad pls help its trash i hate it they are greedy and just want money screw them.
Don't waste my time working on something I think is free. Be forward about your service costing money. This website is annoying.
I feel like the site used to be a lot more user friendly. It crashes frequently and is frustrating to use.
2nd time using this site and its all fine.
The only issue I found was its sometimes slow to load, that could be my old computer though.
Thanks
Cesspool of commercialism and sellouts. Ads everywhere and pushes you into a subscription model. Worthless, end the whole site
Pretty good website for bibliographies. And as the name suggests, it makes bibliographies easy to do.
This website used to be a good resource for creating citations and bibliographies for research projects, but now it is complete garbage. The greedy scumbags behind this website took note of the high amount of traffic from students, and took advantage of them all by placing as many advertisements as they possibly could on the website.
"Well, that's understandable, they're just trying to make some money. What's so bad about that? If you don't want the ads, use adblock!"
You see, that's where the biggest problem with the scummy greediness of the website comes in. The slimy rich $#*!s behind this website thought that the huge amount of ads on their website weren't enough, and added a script that detects if an adblocker is running on the webpage, and limits you to ONE CITATION until you turn the adblocker off.
That's the definition of greed and exploitation of resources. There is no way in hell that the owners of the website need the amount of money that they are getting from the mind-boggling number of advertisements on the website, and it's truly sickening.
The adblocker I use (uBlock Origin) detected and blocked 49 ADVERTISEMENTS on ONE REFRESH. 49. That wasn't even enough, as their partner, Grammarly, had taken up all of the advertisement spots and shoved their download link into my face multiple times on the one visit I gave it. It's truly infuriating that nobody cares about the greed that the domain's holders have, and the fact that they're most likely sitting in a mansion without a care in the world.
Don't use this website, it's the epitome of greed and scum.
There is way too much lag loading lag, rendering lag, and more i created more than 10 citations last night when i went back they were not there
It is annoying to use. Since I need to fill in 100 characters for this review, I will say it again: Annoying to use
$#*! easy bib and its ads its garbage it makes me want to eat dog $#*! ligma balls easy bib $#*!ing die
When I am about to bib something a ad pops up to subscribe or block it and I can't block it. I am going to fail my project BECAUSE OF EASY BIB I HATE EASY BIB NOW1
I was working on a massive research project, and thought easybib was the best way to help me keep the hundreds of sources I had organized. Formatting in MLA is free, but the night before I had to turn it in, my professor told me that the department wanted it in APA. Easybib converts from one format to the other easily, however, APA cost money. At the time they had a 3 day free trial. I could sign up, convert to APA, save it to my harddrive, print it out, and then cancel it the next day. I logged on the next day to cancel, and it said I had to go to paypal and cancel my subscription there. I did so, and I even removed my bank account from paypal to be extra sure. Today I got a statement from my bank, and it seems my account wasn't cancelled and they had been taking money from me for three months. I checked paypal, and it said I had no subscriptions to easybib, and no transactions in the last three months. I contact easybib, they told me I had never cancelled, and that they would not refund me. I asked them to cancel mt account, and they told me to cancel it on paypal. I told them I had done this three months ago, and they said they would take care of cancelling it for me if I really had a problem.
I don't get it. How can they cancel it for me if it is up to paypal to cancel it? They have no access to my paypal account. Also, if they could take care of it on their end, why don't they? Why do they make us go through paypal?
I am still trying to get a refund, but they keep telling my that my not cancelling my subscription is no reason to give me a refund. I keep telling them that I did cancel it through paypal, and sent them a screen shot from before I emailed them that I have no subscriptions. But they don't listen. Greedy f***ing b*****ds. It is college students who use this service most often, and they think they can just screw us over, like the rest of the world does.
Litereally so glitchy. Used to be so good and now it is just full of ads and doesn't save my progress! STAY AWAY! Used to be good... now it sucks
About half of the time I can't cite stuff, just gives an error, and it's covered in ads..
Answer: Because they are very greedy and are too money hungry to realize that their customers are angry with the sites current state.
Answer: Bought out by Chegg and went to hell soon after. There needs to be a proper scholarly citation site to replace Easybib
Answer: It should not because whatever you input is supposed to be secure and not available for access by anyone else. For example, if you type a paper in Google Docs when you check for plagiarism your paper cant show up from Google Doc's website because its secure and only you can access it.
EasyBib has a rating of 1.5 stars from 125 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with EasyBib most frequently mention many ads, free trial and customer service. EasyBib ranks 314th among Writing sites.
