To whom it may concern: I am writing this email about my experience with DoorDash.
My first negative experience was when I first started dashing. I took me THREE WEEKS to receive payment from DoorDash!
There was an error between the bank and DoorDash. DoorDash REPEATEDLY tried to direct deposit funds into my account using incorrect account information even AFTER I had verified this information thru the app!
DoorDash, of course blamed the bank and the bank responded back to me with DOCUMENTATION in writing that the error was DoorDash and NOT the bank!
DoorDash's customer service was totally useless, more on that in a little bit. My second concern with DoorDash is the improper payment of wages and working conditions.
There have been on-going issues with DoorDash and excessive wait times at merchant pick-up locations which creates late deliveries to which DoorDash responds by giving its drivers contract violations. EVERY TIME an issue occurs with excessive wait times; I contact DoorDash by phone and report the situation to them and EVERY TIME their response is "rest assured, you concern will be taken care of and it will not negatively impact your ratings", yet here I am with 4 contract violations!
There is an issue with DoorDash's GPS system incorrect pinning customer locations.
Example (one of MANY)
I had a customer that was located at 110 North Eagleville Rd In Storrs CT. The GPS pinned the drop off location as 82 North Eagleville Rd and I spend about 20 minutes going back and forth with the customer and driving around in circles trying to locate her. I was also on the phone with DoorDash customer service during this entire time! Finally, the DoorDash customer service representative advised me to leave the order at 82 North Eagleville Rd, take a photo of it and mark it as delivered!
I did not feel right about that, so used a secondary GPS and was able to locate and deliver their order (very late of course) two buildings down the road!
Of course, DoorDash customer service was useless
Yet another example:
Earlier today, I had a pick-up at Taco Bell in Willimantic CT. The was excessive wait time at the drive thru to pick up the order!
I had two orders for pick up. During my 50-minute wait, the customer contacted me about their order and stated they ordered at 12:30 am (it was now around 2:20 am)!
I finally got up to the window and was advised that one of orders had been stolen (picked up by another dasher and never delivered) and was handed the second order.
I pulled aside to confirm the order but was unable to do so. Without being able to confirm the order, I had not address information to deliver the order! I called DoorDash customer service and, once again, the were totally useless! The representative cancelled the order, advised me to dispose of the food, and hung up on me!
So... here it is, past 3:00 am and I am sitting in my vehicle with the customer's order, unable to deliver it! I did not feel right about this, contacted the customer, got the address, and delivered it him myself ON MY OWN time!
The customer finally received their order at 3:45 am! They ordered at 12:30 am! That is over 3 hours later!
In addition, the customer added a 15$ tip thru the app (which I have text confirmation of) and never received!
Also, to thank me, for going above and beyond by taking care of the customer ON MY OWN TIME, DoorDash gave me a CONTRACT VIOLATION! Here is my concern with this!
Aside from a customer receiving their order 4 hours later, DoorDash is (and there is no nice way to put this) ripping off their drivers!
I LOST money this morning!
DoorDash should be paying (with the hourly option) drivers from the time they hit "arrived at store" until the order is delivered, NOT from the time the order is confirmed as picked up and marked as delivered! I waited 50 minutes in line to pick up that order! I committed to the customer to deliver their order in a timely manner, not pass it off to another driver and delay it further! That is 50 minutes that I DID NOT get paid properly for! That is FREE LABOR for DoorDash!
I reached out to my state AG's office an hour ago and they advised me to file a complaint against DoorDash for improper payment of wages and consider taking legal action. Finally, I have an issue with DoorDash outsourcing all their customer service calls to call centers overseas and using representatives that are working from pre-written scripts with NO authority to correct or appropriately address customer concerns!
I caught on to this when I called in about several different customer service concerns and the agent response was the same word for word! This is wrong on so many levels and just demonstrates how DoorDash has chosen to put profits over their drivers and customers! In closing, I have documented all my concerns with photos, text messages and screenshots!
I am ready to escalate this to the next level with a formal complaint to the Department of Labor and a civil suit for improper payment of wages (and yes, I am aware of the little "legal loophole" that you have on our contract that states that you pay from the time of pick-up until the order is marked delivered) and have discussed this with an attorney who is investigating the legality of this.
I also intend to take my concerns about my experiences with DoorDash public thru social media and traditional media outlets to let the world know that this is how DoorDash conducts business and treats their customers and drivers! Against my better judgement, I am going hold off escalating this to the next level and give you the opportunity to address my concerns and come to a mutual resolution within a reasonable time! Thanks in advance for your time and assistance with this matter.
Very baaad service. On October 15,2024, I ordered a crispy pork dish t but received French fries and fried chicken instead. I reported the wrong delivery immediately, hoping to place a corrected order. Doordash agent assured me the refund would be processed in minutes, so I waited so I could reorder from the same merchant.
The refund never came, and by the time I checked again, the merchant had already closed. My dinner was ruined, and their failure wasted my time. This is unacceptable. I had spoken with a total of 4 agents once over the phone and three times via online chat and I was told first, that I would receive a response from DoorDash within 24 hours. I never did receive any response. Then I had spoken with another agent via online chat and I was told my case was being reviewed and I would get a response within 3 hours of my email. NO response. Another one said, 24 hours. Then another one said, within 1 hour. It has been more than 3 days and until now, I have not received any communication from DoorDash. How hard is it to give me back my $25?The merchant had said they had issued a refund and yet they are still figuring out how to pay me back my $22. Worse, they hung up on you when you want your money back. The WORST FOOD DELIVERY COMPANY IN THE WORLD. If I could give them a negative score, I would.

UPDATE AFTER 1 WEEK OF WAITING...
DEAR DOORDASH:
I am writing to express my absolute outrage over how DoorDash has handled my refund request for an order placed on October 15,2024. The way your company conducts business is nothing short of disgraceful, unethical, and outright dishonest. The complete disregard for your customers, the blatant lies, and the manipulative stalling tactics I've encountered are appalling and unacceptable.
To recap: I ordered a crispy pork dish but received French fries and fried chicken. I immediately reported the error, and your first agent assured me that my refund would be issued without delay. Since I used credits to place the order, I requested the refund be issued in credits. Predictably, this promise was never kept. No refund came.
The following day, I followed up only to be told by a second agent that the first agent had made a "mistake" and my case was now under review. They promised me a response in 3 hours—yet again, no response came. What followed was an infuriating series of lies and incompetence:
One agent told me to wait 24 hours—nothing happened.
Another repeated the 24-hour promise—again, nothing.
The last agent said I would get a response in an hour—once again, nothing.
This is not just bad customer service—this is deceit. Your agents have deliberately lied, stalled, and misled me every step of the way. When I tried to escalate the issue, I was hung up on. After a week of these unethical tactics, I received a brief message from a supervisor, Manoj, stating that my refund was denied without any explanation. This is not just disappointing—it's downright disgraceful.
Why is DoorDash withholding money that does not belong to you? The merchant confirmed that the refund was issued, yet DoorDash continues to withhold my $22 without any valid reason. This is more than just poor business—it is dishonest and unethical. You are holding onto my money with no justification, and this behavior verges on fraudulent.
DoorDash's behavior in this situation reflects the worst kind of business practices: deceptive promises, a complete lack of transparency, refusal to take responsibility, and a shameless disregard for the customers who keep your company afloat. This is a systemic issue that goes far beyond one refund—it's a disgraceful reflection of your company's values, or lack thereof.
I am not asking for anything more than what is rightfully mine. I demand my refund immediately. I also demand that this letter be escalated to the CEO and President of DoorDash, as they need to be made fully aware of the unethical, dishonest, and incompetent service their staff is providing. The way this situation has been handled is unacceptable, and it must be addressed at the highest levels.
If my refund is not processed immediately, I will have no choice but to escalate this issue further. I will take this public through formal complaints and reviews, exposing DoorDash's unethical and disgraceful business practices. This is your final opportunity to make this right.
I advise that customers do not ask for credits as a refund method. Instead, make them pay you back the same way you paid, which is through refunding you via your original payment method. Also, don't do business with very unethical companies like this.
I did not get my refund back when in fact, the merchant had already issued a refund. Is that how they make money now?
Recently the Door Dash driver took a picture of my order delivered to the wrong address, I live in an apartment building and this was clearly someone else's house porch with a big white pottery vase, and a sign, Welcome To Ukrane!
I spoke to customer service and I asked is my correct address on my account because I see it there but maybe something's wrong with your web site. She said no she sees my correct address on my account and she said it was the driver's mistake and that it could be a GPS problem. The driver actually texted me saying that they made a mistake and then said it was my fault!
I told customer service that I don't want that driver ever again so she said she was blocking him from me. About two days later I had a very good Door Dash delivery driver from a Dairy Queen and he followed the right instructions that are on my account to call me when they are about to deliver my order, he arrived pretty much on time and was nice and friendly so I gave him a 5 star rating.
Well unbelievably just a few days after the first driver delivered my order to the wrong address, another delivery driver delivered my order from a totally different take out place to that exact same wrong house porch and took the picture!
This other driver sent me a text message saying that they were here but that they couldn't find my apartment and they took a picture far away from one of the buildings, I had gone up and down the stairs from my third floor looking outside my front and back building doors but nobody was there.
When I went back up stairs the second time I looked on my account to see if he had delivered my order because he didn't even call me and in addition to that being my instructions on my account, I sent him text messages asking him to please deliver to my correct address and to please call me at my phone number when he was ready to deliver my order, he said OK, and then said he speaks Spanish.
I saw a picture of my order outside of what looked like my building, he then left me a nasty message saying he left it there because he wasted time delivering my order!
I called customer service and rightfully complained again and they said they were giving me a refund but I'm not certain that they really did.
I removed every app on my phone and tablet for any take out places that deliver using Door Dash and I will never use anyone who uses them ever again. So far I have used Grubhub more than a few times including recently and they never delivered my orders to the wrong addresses.
Food delivery items
I have had SOOOOO many issues with Doordash and their Dashers. It's not ALL Dashers. Most are polite, respectful, and follow instructions. If there's something they don't understand, they call or text for clarification. But I would say that every 10 - 15 deliveries I get, there is a Dasher who can't read English because they speak espanol, or they don't WANT to read bc the instructions I give in the notes are too long or tedious. Today, I've had it. These Dashers delivered my order TO THE WRONG BUILDING AND SENT ME A PICTURE. THEY DIDNT CALL OR TEXT ME FOR CLARIFICATION. Instead, I had to call THEN and ask them to bring my order upstairs. I told them that I have instructions in the notes and they didn't seem to understand what I wrote. They kept telling me there wasn't anyone downstairs and they couldn't get in the building when I have VERY clear and detailed instructions for EVERY Dasher that delivers to me. The instructions are in my notes on the app. Most Dashers get it right and don't have to call. But today, sheesh, these ppl were just plain stupid and rude. I am sick today and had to go find food. The guy came 10 minutes later, didn't apologize or anything. Instead, he told me he would, "air this whole place out." After the screaming match, we continued arguing through the app. They both threatened me through the app and called me names. I tried to inform DD, but they didn't want to hear me complaining and cursing. Instead, they told ME to be respectful. I'm done with y'all. I've had mishaps. I can usually let it go. This time, I can't. I will no longer use this service. You don't Vet your ppl. If the Dashers get mad and want to retaliate, what recourse do the customers have? They have OUR information and can come back to do harm. People are crazy and want to hurt people, especially when THEY did something wrong and instead of admitting their wrong, they want to change words around and take it out on YOU. I am done with DD. I've filed a BBB complaint. Do yourself a favor and use a different service. These people do not care about your well being. It's just about the dollars, like everywhere else. I don't appreciate having to go and find my food. I don't appreciate your ppl not reading clear instructions and then telling me about how I am cursing and Nad because THEY got it wrong. You are DAMN right I will curse. I am sick today and had no business out of bed. How would YOU feel? So F you DD. I WANT MY WHATEVER IS LEFT ON MY ANNUAL DASHPASS BACK. Let me go to Grubhub or Postmates. I'll do better research. We should be able to order food and not be threatened for our lives.
Don't use then. They have any old dumbass delivering your food. Go elsewhere.
Doordash has absolutely no consideration for the drivers who must endure the cost of delivering orders which range from $2.25 to $25.00 I have made up to $40.00 on one order. But do not hold your breath this type of order is rare in the Texas or Houston area which has now taken a huge downturn in the deliveries available. A driver must be seasoned and know how to maneuver not only in their chosen area, but they must research the app. Prior to accepting any deliveries which will lose the driver money.
As a international company with a CEO who has a net worth of $2.3 Billion, using deception and trickery with policies that are certainly one sided against door dash having
Any liability whatsoever! Door dash has a history of underhanded business practices which are deceptive and certainly unethical.

This New York Times article dated July 24th
2019 will expose door dash which has and continues to exploit the drivers which make door dash hundreds of millions of dollars if no billions of dollars.
My experience is that, as a Top Dasher with VIP support have found their support to be very poor and time consuming when it comes to correcting their orders which consist of wrong addresses, customers who are irresponsible, who cannot or will not give the driver specific instructions on how to get to their door or location, they fail to give proper gate codes whether they are on the 1st,2nd,or 3rd floor. Some are putting the driver in a time consuming "Wild Goose Chase". Then you have the customers who do not answer their phone or texts or the app itself send the driver a text indicating that they are trying to reach the customer which in my experience is total Bull $#*!. Here are a few real life experiences while doing doordash deliveries. When the store is closed the driver should be paid for showing up to an address in this case was Walgreens where the store had not even opened although I took a picture of the gated door I was never paid when I called doordash support regarding this I was told that another Dasher had picked up and delivered the order. This is impossible since the store is closed the gate is pulled down the picture was taken and I was not paid. This has happened several times this is why it's so important to get them on the telephone to make sure that you get your compensation for them wasting your time, gas, expenses. Furthermore a driver must be very aware of the app changing from avoiding tolls to not avoiding tolls without the driver knowing so. Their deliveries are not worth spending money on tolls which in my case I have a toll tag and an account which I am not going to use on doordash deliveries for the simple fact that I do not want to pay to do deliveries. I had a delivery the other day that I picked up from Hooters after picking up the order I researched the address since something told me that there is no Southwest parkway in Houston only to find out that the address was in Austin Texas. When I call doordash support of course they said that they would pay me the full amount and that I could discard of the order in a safe place. After reading the historical payment of tips that went to doordash instead of the driver I can see how they're worth is now 2.3 billion dollars. Being a driver has expenses. You have a car, gas, insurance, and vehicle maintenance. I had to have my brakes done before it was too late this cost me close to $600 that was the absolute cheapest way of having the brakes done properly. Doordash has absolutely no consideration for the costs that they help drive up with some of their deliveries and some of their customers which do not know where they live sending the driver on a while goose chase.
After reading another article on Google that is done by indeed and another hiring app which always seem to leave out the part about how doordash penalizes the drivers who do not take the horrible $2.25 deliveries there is no way to make any money whatsoever delivering several miles away to some apartment complex where the customer doesn't answer the telephone or have a gate code and they're willing to pay $2.25 I have to decline these orders which make my percentages go down as far as ratings and so on. Then doordash likes to threaten the drivers with deactivation if they go so low as to not taking some of the deliveries that are totally low and the mileage is way too high. Again doordash is a scumbag company that has made billions of dollars on the backs of drivers who do deliveries for them and then they wonder why everybody gets an attitude. Doordash screws everyone the merchant the customer and the driver are all left out to dry. I have had incidents where I went to sprouts market to pick up four items and when I went to pay for the items at checkout their red card was declined eight times that's just one of several reasons why I don't like to do their shopping deals the overall majority of the time Walgreens or CVS does not have the items that the customer wants. Some customers do answer their phone and they are easy to deal with to correct the situation which is not caused by the driver it's caused by the doordash app which I find to be true with some restaurants as well when I get a phone call after delivering $70 worth of food to a customer who states that the order was incorrect they were missing items and so on and so forth. The only thing that I can do at that time is explain to the customer that I am just a delivery driver this is not a catering company therefore I have no power over what is in a sealed bag delivering their order.
You can Google how to permanently close acct but you'll never make it there and C.S is pointless...
Make it easy for people to close their account
Not a concern
I've been using Door dash for awhile now. If you needed a reason to quit or question Door Dash here it is. I'm sure this post will get deleted, because it exposes this company truly. As a driver my account has been deactivated several times due to low ratings. As I delivered more than 5000 orders successful in the downtown Chicago area. One day I would go on the app and just be deactivated just like that. Customer service representative 's are Indian decent with deep ascent, not really understanding English. If you know anything about phishing calls of emails, do your homework, they Mostly have Indian decent. I think this is an attack on America! Something was definitly taken, and they, Indian decent want it back. I'm not saying whats going on is right. Last time I used Door dash it was JULY 3 really JULY 4th at about 5:30 am central Pacific time. I was dashing sucessfully all night long when I got an email at 1:30 am and by 6am I got an notification saying my account had been deactivated due to fraudulent activities. This is the 7th or 8th times this had happened. I'm working hard towards goals and they dump me like I don't deserve to have a side gig. I've ordered using the app and yes, prices are outrageous, twice as much as the menu price. Someone needs to take over Door Dash with a new app that also let's drivers choose starting location. Yes driver pay use to be no less than $5 an order, now ranging low as $2 an order. To anyone who reads this and understands repost this many times everywhere the truth about Door Dash needs to come to the light. Also scammers already know this, this is why their stealing your identity and using it on Door Dash especially if your Caucasian decent, because you won't be deactivated like, black African Americans. I read some comments below, you said someone was using your number and you would be held accountable on your next order. Well thats the reason as just stated. Everyone needs to quit Door Dash they are letting your personal info being used to profit themselves. And if your deactivated now they KEEP your ones owed earnings for themselves. So let's calculate how many driver's can I deactivate to make over 100k. 5 drivers that's over 10k. I'm sure this is happening everywhere, but no one wanted to speak up on behalf of customers and drivers. COPY AND PASTE THIS EVERYWHERE.
I've purchased 3 different times in the same month of Aug 2023 when it came to deliver my food all the items was either missing items or was way to cold either way I called DoorDash to submit an complaint for the items I recieved two messages from two orders stating I would be refunded for the items that I complained about but never recieved them then I order one more time for the kids sake because I was in an accident while driving for DoorDash totalled my vehicle so this was the only option I had to get food. When the food was brought to me it was freezing cold the milkshakes was almost watery like because they had been sitting for some time I called then NOT to get a refund but to get them to send it back to me with fresh food. I was told by DoorDash that there was nothing they could do that they would have someone call me which never happened, because I was in an accident I'm in & out hospitals dealing with insurance & on meds I didn't keep up with the refunds because I thought I worked for an honest company. When I realized that I wasn't refunded or got a call back pertaining to the freezing food I called today to see what's going on I had two calls from DoorDash where nobody said anything & I called them back to say just that then someone called back & said there will be no refund for me I said did you check those recorded messages or check for the emails that was sent to me about the refund & the dates to be refunded the support member assures me that the escalated team member would check this & call me back, well no call back & I see instead of calling me back they send a message to my email stating they are not giving me my refund. If anybody knows anybody legal or could help me with this issue I would gladly appreciate it. DoorDash is not who they say they are they treat you like slaves & have no appreciation for the workers or customers I used to recommend people or others to join but now I won't. I've delivered over 2250 deliveries for DoorDash in 7 months but I still get treated poorly & unjust when I'm being the one who actually orders a delivery.
