I have had a contract with LifeStation for the past few years. The service worked OK, but my problem is with the scam they run when you try to cancel the service. In spite of calling to tell them on Dec. 4 2014 to discontinue the service and that the equipment was in the mail, they still charged me for three months of service, beginning on Dec. 5. They claim that they won't actually cut service until they receive the equipment (it arrived at their corporation Dec. 16) and that it is their policy to charge for the entire next billing cycle. I feel totally ripped off for $75, hence am motivated to share my story with you. Next time I'll go with Bay Alarm.
Alert-1 is another very popular emergency medical alert system. I also reviewed Life Alert so I thought I would review Alert-1 too. The problem with these medical alert systems is that they don't work outside the home. You need to be near their base station thing. For that reason, I decided to get my elderly uncle a really simple to use cell phone instead. In addition to that they have new medical alert systems that have fall detection that makes them better. I'd shop around before getting Alert-1.
Willing to work with you and tailor services to your specific needs. They're very patient and always available. I'm getting my money's worth!
Tip for consumers:

Paul Kumar, Life Alert salesperson from the New Jersey office was extremely aggressive, angry, mean, rude and disrespectful to me on the phone. I was interested in purchasing a Life Alert for my loved one. Paul Kumar started speaking over me in an aggressive, pushy salesman tone of voice. And then when I told him that was inappropriate, he began to yell and berate me at the top of his lungs. Please listen to Paul Kumar's recorded Life Line phone calls. He lacks interpersonal skills, compassion, kindness and ethics. Paul Kumar is unethical and fraudulently charged my credit card without me confirming the second call. He should be fired for screaming at clients, speaking to them in an aggressive tone of voice, talking over them and telling clients that "no one put a gun to their head." Thanks to Paul Kumar, we decided to go with another company. Paul Kumar is costing life alert customers - fire him!
Don't trust Medical Alert! I set up the rental of this equipment for my mother. We paid one full year in advance. She was then billed another $30 3 months into service. I canceled then returned the equipment and called them. Then they are taking 5 weeks to return unused funds. I wish I didn't have to give them a whole star. The first time I called to get the money returned the lady would not listen to me at all. I had to get angry and call back before I could get someone with any brains; the first lady I was talking to kept talking over me making up some big lies about some agreements that we never signed. Don't go there!
