ZERO STARS! SHADY - CLASSES ACTUALLY COST EXTRA - HIDDEN RENEWAL EMAILS - NO REFUNDS
October 5, 2023

NEVER EVER GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY MONEY AT ALL! You will regret it. Very shady business practices. Was once owned by NBC, but now just a scam marketing company out of Colorado.

Bought on a whim with an ad offering a $2 membership. Thought I would try it out. I didn't use it. I forgot about it. That seems to be what they want you to do. I was also getting from 1 to 4 marketing emails EVERY DAY from them offering other deals, discounts, buy other things, etc. I just ignored all the email noise.

THEY COUNTED ON IT!

They just charged me $181 and will not give a refund. I would have never known either as they don't send you a receipt. They just leave a copy of the payment on their website if you go to look for it in the account section.

When I called, they offered me $200 in classes that should have been included in the cost of membership anyway. I turned them down on that offer. I think they will use that against anyone who tries to enter a class action lawsuit against them. I also NEVER used the site in the first place!

It seems THIS YEAR 2023 they changed their business practices and sent an email on July 19 to to tell everyone that they no longer give refunds. They sent that notice on a day when they sent out 3 marketing emails on the 18th and 3 on the 20th to obscure the email we needed to review that said they will no longer be issuing refunds.

They told me they sent another email explaining the new practice, but I never got that one. It was supposedly sent on the 7th (oddly the one day I got no emails from them at all).

The actual "renewal email they send out is below. Notice the WHOLE FIRST PART OF THE EMAIL does NOT talk about anything but more marketing jargon in a very shady bold/not bold ALL-CAPS font usage. You have to read all the way through all the marketing to get into the "renewal" part of the email. They don't mention anywhere what they will be billing you and they don't mention anywhere where you can cancel or get out of the service.

Their new "renewal is coming' email does not look like any real one. And again, it came with 3 marketing emails the day before and 2 on the same day and 3 on the day after. VERY SHADY!It is also VERY shady when you read it as well. The whole top half just sounds like all of their other marketing emails. Note the ALL CAPS words are as they were in the email but in the email they were also BOLDED font. Trying to keep your eye on those words and not the bottom part of the email

The "New Craftsy" has got to be the biggest rip-off of all time! Do not waste money!
September 6, 2023

I was an original Craftsy Member from when Craftsy first started. I purchased over 200 forever Craftsy Classes. According to the sell of the company we Craftsy Members were supposed to be able to still access their classes via the new Craftsy. The first year I was considered a Gold member; I was only credited about 10 classes. Then they wanted me to renew my membership; I did, but then I went from being a Gold member to a Premium Member. I did not renew; then I thought I would try to renew and was made a Premium Member instead of a Gold member. I thought it would be $9.99/month; but no! Craftsy took $97.+ something off of my card. Then I went to review some of my classes, only to find out classes which I previously purchased for less than $20.00 are now $179.00/class and up. Are you freaking kidding me. What is the $97,00+ something for? Classes that were at one time free on Craftsy are now being charged for. OMG have thy ever, ever, ever, messed this thing up; I want my money back and I want it back now. I'm not going to pay $97.00 + something a year, only to have the privilege of having access to purchase Classes I Have Already Paid for... I hope these people go broke; what a waste of time. DO NOT GET SCAMMED: THIS IS NOT THE OLD CRAFTSY... Thankfully, My husband recorded many of my classes for me. Unfortunately, I do not have the materials that goes with the classes. I did have those materials downloaded, and a some I printed out. Then my computer crashed and I lost a lot of data. And yes many of us did record our classes with permission when we found out that Craftsy was going out of business; during a period when they were unsure rather or not they had a buyer. The new Craftsy is charging more for classes than what I would pay for a local quilt shop. Are YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? NEW CRAFTSY IF YOU ARE READING THIS; YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO GO A LONG WAYS TO MAKE ME RETRACT MY COMPLAINT...

Tip for consumers:

That they would have honored their promise to the original Gold Members of keeping our purchased forever classes forever....

Products used:

None, I was just renewing my membership; and now what few classes they credited me with are gone. The only classes they have worth taking is the classes I already purchased; my Craftsy Forever Classes... The one class I wanted to review at this time; now costs $179.00.

Craftsy website not allowing me to use 8 of my 9 Forever Class codes
December 31, 2020

I've been a longtime subscriber to Craftsy, which then became Blueprint, and now Craftsy again. I am terribly disappointed in the new management of Craftsy in its current form. It's horrendous! For months I had no access to my owned Forever Classes, including the ones still owed to me. When they were finally made available I - and other Premium members - had until 12/31/20 to select and claim the outstanding balance of our classes. I figured I'd have enough time if I logged on to Craftsy.com on the morning of 12/31/20.

First of all, I had trouble at login. For the 2nd time I was made to re-establish an account user name and password on craftsy.com. Once I did that again, I followed instructions on how to select and claim 9 free Forever Classes. I Copied a CODE, selected a Class and "purchased" it for $0. It worked fine!

I returned to the instruction page and saw that the number of Forever Classes had correctly gone from 9, down to 8. I went to the CODE field to COPY my 2nd of 9 codes and the code showing was exactly the same as the one I had just used! I tried clicking on COPY but the message I got said that the CODE in question had already been copied/used. There was absolutely no way to clear the field or proceed to the next code. So I couldn't use any more of my Forever Class codes and at 11:59 Central Time I will have lost out on 8 free classes.

I sent a detailed email to *******@program-director.net. Didn't even receive an auto response.
So I phoned *******203 to speak to a Customer Service rep. After listening to loud music and repeated suggestions to request a callback, I did ask for my call to be returned. It only took about 30" for a return call. I explained the problem in detail. All the woman said in response was, "Just a minute." I was put back on HOLD with music that was even louder. After 10" of being on HOLD I heard a click, the music went silent and we lost connection. I didn't worry - afterall she had my callback number so I expected to hear back from her. Well it's been 6 hours and no call back. Guess I was wrong.

I updated my email to *******@program-director.net, who seems to be taking the day off today or maybe quit. Fine timing! Any fool would realize that the last day to redeem Forever Classes would be busy! I'm really fed up. I'd better hear from someone on January 2. And that person had better tell me the problem with their website has been fixed (or other accommodations made) and that the deadline for using Forever Class credits (in my case, 8), has been extended.

Very poorest customer service ever received
December 14, 2020

Whomever from Craftsy that reads this,
THIS IS A FAILURE TO PROVIDE CUSTOMER SERVICE... I am trying to be calm here but no one seems to be listening to me at all.
I was on an auto renewal for the subscription service. It was due to renew in November. I spoke to someone who said they would cancel my subscription when it is due to end in Sept and I will not be renewed.

2 months later, the money was STILL TAKEN OUT OF MY BANK ACCOUNT!
That led to overdraft fees ($75.00) because they took my bill money and when I called to complain they said it would be 5 days for the refund. When I complained they had to say that I didn't email the cancelation in time to avoid the auto renewal. THAT IS A BIG FAT LIE BECAUSE I SPOKE TO SOMEONE 2 MONTHS PRIOR. SO THAT IS BS!

I've spoke to TWO people on the phone AND now TWO additional customer service people via emails since SEPTEMBER. I asked Craftsy customer service to PLEASE ESCALATE this to some of authority that will pay attention to what I have said AND ask them to please call me personally. Someone emailed me back and said that it was up to e to contact the bank to sort this problem out for myself. We this would have NEVER HAPPENED IF YOU HADNT STOLEN MY MONEY!

Email exchanges are not successful if no one is reading what I write and not responding accordingly. This is the poorest customer service I have ever had and the more time I spend on this the angrier I get.

In the era we live in of social media, I would think you would work harder to address this, instead of repeating what the person said before you said. You should have just escalated it. Instead you made the matter worse with your comments. Unless this is in fact how this business is run. That would explain so much.

PLUS based on your response to me, clearly you didn't read my original complaint. If ANYONE bothered to lookup my account you would SEE that I CALLED, not emailed in SEPT, to cancel this in plenty of time to avoid auto renewal. Where in your AGREEMENT does it say I have to cancel 2 months prior to end my auto renewal status?

I need someone with some authority to address CRAFTSY's huge mistake here, instead of insulting me by telling me it was MY mistake and that I need to take up with my bank!

Shame on YOU Craftsy!

Changed name to Bluprint, along with everything that was previously good
June 12, 2019

Craftsy was apparently bought by NBC Universal and became Bluprint. I own a great many classes that I mostly bought, a few were free, and since the change some of those classes have been 'retired', which means they no longer sell them, but more importantly, there is no longer any instructor to ask questions of. I also found out that instructors weren't ever even required to reply to questions for more than 2 years, although I know of at least one dedicated one who says he still does but doesn't check his emails as often as before.

Bluprint are trying to appeal to the masses, and the classes they have been producing have gone down in quality and length. I get constant emails from them wanting me to join. I did join for a year but barely watched it, and there were a couple of newer classes that I couldn't bear to watch and had to switch off. One of them had some awful, constant jarring piano music that sounded like a beginning piano student was practising and was very loud as well. The instructor and subject were more in the background than that awful 'music'. The other one had such an annoying instructor that I couldn't stand watching, and these were both subjects I would have otherwise liked to learn. They've changed their policies with how instructors are paid from a percentage of a paid class to minutes viewed as a Bluprint member, which has resulted in less income for the instructors. One of them reported her income from her class with them had been halved, and some instructors have left because of the new arrangements.

Live chat used to connect immediately to a person, but when I had to contact them about something that was missing from a recent order, first I had to answer several questions before they would connect me.

Bluprint seem desperate for members. They have reduced their annual membership fee from $120 to $79.95, sometimes it's $69.95, and at least sometimes they also throw in 12 'own forever' classes and maybe something extra. The other day it was a quilt kit. I'm seriously concerned about what's going to happen with all of my many 'own forever' classes and if/how I can download them before this company ceases trading because I can't see them lasting very much longer, maybe a few years tops. I've recently bought dvds of some of the classes I already own when they've been 'on sale', still expensive for dvds, so I don't have to be online and watching with a computer or tablet. Things being what they are now, I wish I would have just bought the dvds, if they'd been available at the time.

I suppose if I'd had the current options back when I first started buying classes, I would probably join Bluprint for as short a time as possible and then buy the dvds, if available, of the classes I wanted. The way they're running the company now, they might as well not advertise instructor interaction, which for me was the main selling point. In many instances now, you might as well go on youtube.

I'm sad to say that I can no longer recommend this company, although I do sometimes still buy some fabric on sale from them.
