The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily due to perceived deceptive practices surrounding subscription renewals and product quality. Many customers express frustration over receiving low-value items, often described as free samples, and report difficulties in canceling subscriptions or obtaining timely customer support. While a minority of reviews acknowledge helpful customer service interactions, these instances are overshadowed by complaints about slow response times and inadequate resolutions. Overall, the feedback indicates a pressing need for improved transparency, communication, and product value to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

This company refuses to stop deliveries. I have sent 2 emails and they keep coming. I returned the last box without opening it and they refuse to reinburse me. I have never had a problem with a company like this before. Another reviewer said their phone was disconnected. What is the story here. I am so frustrated.
SCAM. BOUGHT ON GROUPON OR LIVING SOCIAL I CANT REMEMBER IT WAS OVER A YEAR AGO. NOT A BAD DEAL FOR THAT PRICE BUT YOU STILL ARE OVER PAYING. THEY AUTO RENEW YOUR SUBSCRIPTION WITHOUT ASKING. BORDERLINE CREDIT THIEFS. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, SERIOUSLY NOT EVEN GOOD PRODUCTS. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME READ THE REST, CONSENSUS IS THIS IS A SCAM. HOW CAN THEY STILL OPERATE LIKE THIS?! FKIN SCUM
Conscious box sounds like a great idea, who wouldn't want a goodie box filled with samples every month. In actuality it is not all that great and so not worth the expense. I signed up via a Living Social deal and then was automatically enrolled for their monthly subscription even though they had no credit card information on file for me in their system, they took the info from Living Social. When I disputed this I was told that I could receive partial credit back or continue with my subscription and they would give me a free box. I went with the free box option since I was also told there would be some great products coming out. The products are no different - in fact I have received the same iron supplement three times and yes I did review my products to say I was not iron deficient. Most months I get duplicates of the previous months and the past two have been products for kids, I have no kids. This product could be made better by allowing the customer to customize their box - ie I have pets, I have children...
All in all save you money and buy what samples you want from the stores.
I have received four boxes so far. The first two were great. I was introduced to a few new products that I purchased and still love. The problem is that there are too many repeat samples being sent to me and I just don't feel the cheap, freebie-size samples are worth the cost of the box. Some of the samples I have received three times in four months!
The idea is a good one, expose people to new, eco-friendly, body-friendly products without making them do any work. However, the result is a glorified box of should-be-free samples that customers pay outrageous prices for. I bought a 3-month trial for 50% off through Livingsocial, and I still felt very ripped-off.
Even worse, while the company made it clear that they are auto-renewal unless manually cancelled (not uncommon for subscription services), they do not notify customers when the auto-renewal is coming up (apparently hoping customers will forget), and WORSE, they give no notification at all when a renewal occurs, even though there is a bank account charge!
I submitted a refund request after the auto-renewal because the new subscription hadn't shipped yet, and $56 is just stupid for 3 months of samples. It is not 10 days since that request was submitted, with no word at all. I just finished submitting a claim through the BBB. Do not do "business" with this company.
Worst customer service ever! I have had to deal with them for the past 3 months and it is outrageous how long they take to get back to you. They wrongfully charged me twice in a matter of two month and I am not even subscribed with them! DO NOT GET THIS BOX!
Those samples are not worth of the money you are charged! The box is disappointing - there is only one full size item per box such a small bag of chips or a medium size chocolate bar. The stuff from the box wouldn't cost more than a few dollars if you buy it from the grocery. I'm cancelling my subscription!
Vegans, stay away from this company. Out of 4 'vegan' boxes I received, ONE was actually vegan. All the others had one or more non vegan items in them. Even after pointing this out, the same non vegan item was in a box 2 month later. All of the non-vegan items were free samples. Since Conscious Box likes to fill the majority of your box with free samples, I assume they were not able to get enough free vegan samples and were hoping people wouldn't notice it. Customer Service is horrific. After I pointed out the issue with non vegan stuff in my first box (beeswax, fish oil), I was told I must have been send the wrong box and would get an additional box. Second box was vegan. Third box included the same sample with beeswax as the first box. One of the items was broken and several items were not the same as listed, but lesser items. Customer Service did not respond to my emails or to BBB complaints. The last box included a lotion with honey and beeswax. Even if you are not vegan, don't throw your money away. You can get the free samples yourself, for FREE. It is disgusting that a company would use free samples, book marks or a piece of fabric to fill their orders. Even with a Living Social deal I didn't get my money's worth. Fortunately, Living Social agreed and credited my money back.
I have to agree 100% with all of the reviewers on this site- Conscious Box is a SCAM! Like some of the others, I found out about it through a Living Social Deal. I unsubscribed from the service on June 27, yet they charged my credit card on July 3- despite my account being cancelled. I contacted them and even sent them a screen shot of the email they sent me after I cancelled. The customer service guy told me my screen shot was not valid. Really? It's of an email YOU sent me. I quit trying to haggle with them because all I am receiving are smart $#*! responses, which are not appreciated. I will be reporting this to the BBB.
Also, just a side note- aside from the sketchy credit card issues, the box itself is the worst. I received an energy drink. Wow, thanks. Something I can't even use because I am pregnant. I also received a fabric swatch (huh?) and some digestive pills for the dog/cat that I don't own. I hope this business goes under.
What a ripoff. I got the box through a Living Social deal but even at the discounted rate, it wasn't worth the price. Very small size items, not at all personalized to what I wanted or needed. I'd guess the contents of the box was worth about $5, not th $20 they charge for it on their site.
The worst thing was that they charged me for a second box before they even shipped the first one! My card was charged before I received an email about the order or anything. Of course they can't be reached by phone. I finally got someone to answer my email and she said they couldn't refund my money and I couldn't return the box. She said it was all in the fine print on their site. She offered me a small discount, but I'm still going to get a box of crap I don't need and will have to pay for it.
My guess, based on the other reviews here, is that they'll be out of business soon. Good. They're awful!
KEEP YOUR MONEY! NOT WORTH IT! I tried out this company after buying a livingsocial deal. There was only one full sized item in the premium box. The rest of the items are samples that companies would otherwise give away for free. My box had about 11 items ( I would say worth about $3 maybe. And that's being generous) and was missing 2 of the items listed on the site. They should offer and option to customize boxes- for example, I received a sample of pet vitamins (2 pills) but I dont have any pets. The generic product survey on their site even asked what "I" thought about the vitamins. One sample from this particular company was a joke - It was a 2inch x 2inch swatch of fabric. What the heck can I do with this?@!?
I redeemed a Living Social voucher for 1 box so there shouldn't be any charge. Before I even received the box, they charged me for the next month's subscription. Tried to call them, but their number wasn't connected. I emailed them and they didn't respond for a week. They refuse to budge. The contents of the box wasn't worth it. STAY AWAY
Stay away from this company. I wish that I had read these reviews before I purchased Conscious Box subscriptions for a friend and myself from Living Social? I ordered and paid for a 1 month subscription for my friend and a 3 month for myself.
The first "red light" was that we had to put our credit card numbers in even though we had prepaid for the orders. Then, we waited for our boxes. When we got them, we were terribly disappointing. There were few full sized products. Mostly there were sample sized items and ads. There is no possible way that the items in there were worth $20. It was very different than the picture in Living Social. Thank goodness I did. It pay the full amount, as I got it through Living Social.
So, we soon went to their website and cancelled. To our surprise, my friend got a box the next month and her credit card was charged. I naively thought it was an error that they would immediately fix. No way. We argued with them over numerous emails because there is. I number to call. They said that my friend was sent the 2nd box because she didn't cancel before the first of the month. But she didn't get her box until after the first of the month. Why would she cancel before she saw the box? After arguing over several emails, they reimbursed her 50%. Unsatisfactory.
Now, for my subscription, I had also cancelled after I received my first box, but because I did not trust the company at this point, I went back a month or so later to make sure I was still cancelled, but somehow my "cancelled" was reversed. Again, numerous emails to the company. To make matters more annoying, each of their emails was signed "Customer Happiness Agent."
Conscious Box-- are you kidding? What conscious? I will give Living Social credit, after I asked to speak to a manager, they did reimburse me and gave me some Living Social bucks. However, I was very sorry to see the Conscious Box as another daily deal just a few weeks later.
If there was a way to give "0" stars, I would.
Very disappointed. Was sample items that I'd never use. Not worth paying any money for. All three boxes I got were disappointing. I cancelled the subscription after I received the first box. The other two were just as disappointing.
I sent an email to cancel my subscription, 3 weeks! Before the box was to be sent out. I notified my bank and yet they sent the box any way. What a scam. Reminds me of LA Fitness. Where you have to write a letter (that never makes it) to cancel. Poor business. They should be taken to court. Shame on you Conscious Box.
I wish I would've seen these reviews before I bought the LivingSocial deal. I paid $30 for 3 months, but even at $10 a box, it was a complete waste of money and I was beyond disappointed. I also received only 1 full size item in the 2 boxes I received (I canceled before the 3rd box could come) and I didn't even get the nice lip balm mentioned below. My friend who also subscribed (per my suggestion when I saw the LivingSocial Voucher) did receive the lip balm however, which was basically rubbing salt in the wound. I, on the other hand, received a paper bookmark and a fabric swatch with a coupon to buy the fabric that counted as 2 of my monthly items. No joke, although it sounds like one. The items were so disappointing, I tried contact customer service and they wouldn't even appropriately response to me. I kept getting pre-composed "generic" responses, even when I directly informed them they were not addressing my issues. And then from there, they chose to ignore me and not respond at all. TERRIBLE customer service. Stay away from this company and save your money, time and effort!
Very disappointed in this company. At least I didn't pay full price. I signed on for a "plus box" three-month deal with Living social. My April box had one full size item in it; a very nice lip balm, but all the rest were small sample sizes that might be handed out at the store. One package with liquid broke open and leaked onto other items in the box. My May box had four repeats of April (all sample sizes), and one item was actually missing (was listed on packing list, just wasn't there). When contacted, the customer service rep basically said, "variations occur" and added points to my account to make up for it rather than replacing the item. I don't want points, I want the items listed in the box! I really thought that was crappy of them. The one full size item this month was a box of Annie's Macaroni and Cheese, which sells for $1.69 at the grocery store. Even with the living social deal (about $9 a month) this is a total and absolute ripoff. Stay away from this company.
What a disappointment. I tried out the site as I found a Groupon for it, but even at half savings, it was not worth it. I received a very small box containing sample products (that are labelled 'not for resale'). The box contained a list of what SHOULD have been included inside the box, but even two of the samples were missing. Oh... and there were a few coupons as well. All in all, nothing I couldn't get by visiting an expo, or health food store.
I wish anyone who is thinking to subscript this box could read my msg before they do it. My mood in this month was totally ruined by this little, terrible company. I updated my address, according to their website, "All address change requests must be made before the 8th of the month, or that month's box will be shipped to the existing address." (be careful, they may change their information on their website soon to avoid anyone to discover their mistake) I updated my address on 7th, i complied with what the website said. But they ended up telling me they could no way change my address and overlooked the date stated on their website. They just asked me to contact USPS. So i did not have the package, no refund and spent so much time to argument with the impolite representative. I was just so angry. They could easily please their costumer with a $20 refund or a new box sent, admitted their mistake. But they refused to do it. Cheap business.
The products are just samples they obtained for advertisement company. No good. Regret to sign-up.
