I have been a customer with Comenity for years and have never had a late payment. I have several accounts with comenity and they are all in good standing. Comenity started lowering my credit limits (drastically) without giving me any advanced noticed. I had a $1,100 limit on one card and had just under $150 charged. They reduced my limit to $150 which hurt my credit score because my utilization was then at almost 100%. I've recently paid off each of these accounts and will no longer use them nor will I open another account with Comenity ever. They are the absolute worst financial institution I've ever dealt with.

I have Comenity AAA Visa for a few years. I usually pay my balance in full until this year. I decided to set up an Automatic payment just in case I got sidetracked. On Sept 3 I checked my balance and paid everything in full not knowing that there was a $9.98 due for automatic payment, the whole September I checked my account and it showed up as "No Payment Due" Until Sept 27 when I called my bank because there is a payment that I did not recognize from Comenity, we checked it out online and it showed up as fraud charge. My bank went into action and stopped the payment. October came around and I found out Comenity Bank charged me $30 for a return check, I was confused as I paid this card online. I called Comenity Visa to find out what is that charge for. Kalish (Customer Rep) told me it was from an automatic payment that did not go through $9.98. When I told her that I was not aware of this automatic payment since every time I checked my account it would show up as "No Payment Due" ask her if she could do something about this $30 return check charge. She said, "Nothing she can do". My conclusion from this conversation is that Comenity Bank just stole from me as a good creditor I hate banks that steal people's money through no fault. If I had seen a balance due on my account, I would have paid it immediately, that month of September I checked my account multiple times, and all I got was "No Payment Due" Then they surprised me. Do not set up any AUTOMATIC PAYMENT if you don't want to get slapped with a $30 charge. Remember the unknown automatic charge (since your account does not show the balance due) was $9.98. They charge me $30. Comenity Bank stole $30 from me. I will not forget that and I will not recommend this card at all.

Several months of trying to pay them unsuccessfully. There are numerous payment methods, none of which work. I finally called a rep, who processed my payment, only to be called by Comenity collections telling me my account is past due. It seems my payment is showing but not posting to which I was told, quite smugly, that "calls will continue until the payment is made". Screw you morons. If I didn't need the info for my credit report I'd close my BJs, Famous Footwear, Venus, Boscov's, etc. lines of credit. Called customer service with four issues - ZERO of them resolved! Way to go "BREAD"!

Never dealt with a worse credit card company in 40 years. I pay my cards off on time but this company gets you with bogus late fee's and then no customer service to fix problem. I had a zero balance and canceled the card and they were still trying to bill me for interest...you will be on the phone for hours over days and weeks to fix the problem. I won they lost because I would not give in and played their game until I won ( not it is not worth it) do your self favor and don't do business with them! You heard irthere folks!

Someone give Debra a raise. I loathe talking to the automated voice message system when I have one question. As the title has stated, someone please give Debra a raise. She was friendly and straightforward.

Obnoxious!
September 26, 2023

They are by far the most obnoxious bank that I have done business with. Unfortunately, they are the bank for some stores I shop at the most. Seriously, one day late and I got 20 calls in ONE DAY! One call will remind me, but 20, makes me NOT!

After paying my statement balance at the end of every month. Comenity still charges interest. I was told interest is a month in arrears which makes no sense. However, I just wanted to report this is how the banks messed up your credit by being shady…Worse bank for credit cards. Hopefully, VS find another bank to service their cards like BJs did…very annoyed!

I will never again finance anything through Kay Jewelers as this banking company takes 3 WEEKS to cash a check just so they can charge interest! My due date was on the 17th of every month. I had the bank send a check on the 8th and they still waited to cash it until the 22nd just so interest could be charged! Then when you call them and tell them to look at the dates they just dismiss you and make you pay. Piss poor on their end and now Kay's is dealing with the repercussions. There are more jewelry stores than just them and that's where we are shopping now!

I can't believe my eyes! I'm considering suicide at this point because of this bank. I bought furniture from the room place years ago, they said it would be zero percent for 60 month and I was happy as a lamb. They told me once the payments are done you will be at the end of the zero percent, they set up the payments for me and recommended paperless billing so I never received any type of mail. My balance remaining at the end of the period was $400 with never missing a payment of course. I would have gladly paid it off if I knew. All of a sudden I see a $4500 increase on my statement and I only knew because my credit score dropped 10 points and I wondered why. When I called the fraud department they said it's the interest i agreed on if the whole amount wasn't paid. Thats when my life just sunk in my head I started begging them on the phone I begged the supervisor ( Jeff)to just reverse it and I'll pay the remaining balance. He couldn't care less. They didn't even explain how a $400 balance will have $4500 worth of interest. They told to talk to the hardship department and it hung up on me multiple times. They are the devil in disguise and I wish them the worst. If anyone could help please please help I am desperate at this point. My promo ended May 10th and I received the notification May 21. It wasn't late or anything the autopay was just not due.

I closed all my accounts with them after they let a $2 finance charge grow to $147 dollars! And then reports to the credit bureau 120 days late. The finance charge should have never been charge in the first place I made the purchase on the 22nd of April paid it off online on the 27th of April. So I thought there was no balance, then I went to look at our credit report online, and BANG! I see they have been reporting a $2 balance as past due, but of course no courtesy call, letter in the mail, nothing, because they force you to opt out of paper statements. Tried to call to resolve it, the worst customer service I have ever experienced. All they wanted to do was try to lecture me how to pay my bills! Really, I have plenty of other credit cards I don't need their crappy cards. Closed Victoria Secrets, Maurice's and Sportsman's Wearhouse. Will never have another card from Comenity! Just be aware.

Don't do it
September 30, 2021

Terrible company do not do business with anyone involved with this company. Disreputable companies partner with them and when you are scammed and never receive the product they side with the scammers and you still have to pay them for what you never received. At an absurd interest rate as well. Call support and they give you the run around and side with the scam company despite proof goods were not received. As long as the scam company says so they side with those bringing them money. I would not be surprised wife they got kickbacks from the scammers.

How you open an account with this bank. And 11 days later they close the account, after you have bought items and received your card. Then they tell you they Dont have to tell you why they closed the acct but then want you to still pay the account. So they have ran your credit and then want to say they can just close the account with no reason.

They claim I cancelled my credit card after someone said it was fraudulently opened (but I was making full monthly payments) - fraudsters don't make payments. Then they said nothing they could do when I tried to reopen and they hung up on me. Just TERRIBLE!

Fraudulent charges
July 9, 2023

I got this credit card a few years back, for Burks through Commenity Bank. I closed the account in March after paying bill in full. In April I received a bill for $9, I called they removed. In May I received a bill for $12, I called they removed. In June I received a bill for $14 which is showing on my Equifax, I called they said they would remove they haven't. All these charges are for late fees and monthly reg fees. But the account is closed, you are not supposed to be charged monthly fees on a credit card that is closed. They are hurting my credit, and I worked hard to get it up. This is a terrible company.

0/10 do not recommend
January 31, 2024

Got a credit card for famous footwear. First payment was due January 4th. Ended up missing it because they had my phone number messed up so every time I would try to register it would say my info didn't match. I finally managed to get in touch with customer service (the phone line is garbage. It just randomly hangs up on you while you're on hold waiting for someone) and supposedly he fixed it. Guess what? Not fixed. Three weeks of calls later I finally manage to get in touch with someone else and she did actually fix it and removed my late fee and claims she removed the missed payment as well but I'll believe it when I see it. She then told me to make sure I make my payments on or before the due date because they can only remove a late fee once every 12 months. Um no maam. It's Comenitys garbage system that wouldn't allow me to make my payment soooooo don't put that on me thank you! I had even tried to use the fast pay option but it kept saying I had a scheduled payment for that day no matter what day I tried to select. How could I have a scheduled payment when I couldn't even get into my account?
