Do not be tempted by the pretty pictures in their magazines - you will never see the product in real life! Ordered two different costumes in AUGUST to ensure they would arrive by Halloween - when the package arrived, they had two of the same item in the box. Contacted them to say the wrong item was delivered, it took them 3 days to reply and instead of immediately sending the correct item, I had to take MY time to MAIL them back the WRONG costume and include on the slip that it was wrong. Fast forward TWO FULL WEEKS since I mailed that item back -- they contact me to say the originally ordered item is now unavailable! Infuriating and extremely disappointed. Order at your own risk - they do not care about their customers. I will never order from them again and I am reporting this review to as many sites as possible.
This is the worst company I've ever dealt with with regards to customer service. I ordered the Bumblebee Transformer costume over a months ago for my son and they cancelled the order just now stating they have none in stock. You waited a month to tell me this? Then I call into Customer Service and speak with Fay and she is rude and combative and offers me no solution other than a 20% off coupon but I used a 30% off coupon on my original order. Then she hangs up on me! I have been a routine customer for many years and I can assure you I will never order from chasing fireflies ever again!
I finally got my daughters Halloween costume after Halloween. I purchased another costume for my daughter to wear because I could see this one was not going to show on time. So I sent a few emails to the company asking if I needed an authorization to return with no response. I finally decided to just take pics of everything and put it back in the mail with their order form and return codes on it. I don't hear anything email them no response then 10 days after they receive it receive an email saying they received my return. I should get a refund in 14 business days. Then the next email I received from them says, if your item was returned within 60 days of the day you receive your item and you paid with credit card you will receive your refund to your card. Well I am expecting my refund to my card because from the day I received the item to the day they received the return it was less than 30 days so I'm good right? No, moments later I receive s merchandise credit. I will never order from them again and will file a problem with my card to get my money back if I have to.
Do not order from them. They apparently sell Halloween costumes but have not yet figured out how to get them to their customers prior to Halloween. Their customer service is an oxymoron. Clear your calendar if you plan on speaking with someone because it's going to take a while and the person on the other end of the phone has no idea how to help you.
Do not purchase anything here! Everything is cute but you can find this stuff in other places. I ordered a communion dress in time for my daughter's communion to be delivered in 4 to 7 days - even got an order confirmation. Two weeks go by and I haven't heard anything yet they kept an authorization for the dollar amount against my bank funds so I assumed it would be ok. I finally called them to find out that the dress is not in stock and they couldn't be bothered to contact me. They offered to find me another dress for the same price.Gee thanks! I could get that anywhere. I can't believe that they wouldn't offer a discount or express delivery on a different dress. This is truly a horrible company.
How would you like to use your hard earned money for a special dress (or 4, like for my 4 girls) and then not receive them for months? Sounds like a nightmare right? Well thats what this company delivers every day, pun intended. The customer service is unhelpful, supposedly they dont have access to accurate information regarding whether an item is back ordered or in stock. According to the supervisor I spoke with, its not the employees fault that they dont have correct information about their items so if they give you incorrect information its not their fault. Pass the buck right? But really... is that any way to run a company?
We ordered 4 Christmas dresses for our daughters (purchased our sons outfit elsewhere) and had the photo shoot set up for a month later. The photo shoot is in 2 Days and after multiple calls to this company (calls in which I have been lied to repeatedly) I still have no dresses and will have to reschedule the Christmas photo shoot.
When I originally ordered all of the dresses online no information showed up regarding their availability. It wasnt until I called them 2 weeks later asking them about when the order would be in that I was told that it was backordered. I like to know if an item is on backorder when Im placing an order. Then I can make an informed decision about whether to order or not... usually for me, not. I dont like to be strung along. But I didnt have enough time to coordinate 5 outfits again so I trusted that it would be shipped that Friday (as I was told) and that it would arrive in 2 business days, which was 2 days ago. It didnt arrive. Then I called back today to tell them that I hadnt received the order and the supervisor told me that I should check the order status if I want information regarding an order. What?! Of course, I do that... I do it almost every day. All it says on their website is when the order was placed, and the word, processing. How does that help anyone. There is still no mention of any of the items being backordered. It should say that as well as an estimated time of departure for the order to leave from their warehouse.
New business model please! Or just go away because your current business model is a joke.

The first time I order from this company everything was nice. Nice dress, nice shoes, fits my daughter perfect etc... but then the nightmares started...}}} on the third time that I placed an order, when I received the dress that I ordered size 10, they sent to me size 6, the shoes that I ordered in black they sent to me white shoes, correct size shoes with wrong color and one of the dress they never sent-it to me buy they charged my debit card... I called customer service and I explained whats was going on and the lady was totally unprofessional and very rude and stared screaming with me on the phone after I said that I want to exchange those items that was wrong size and wrong color and that I wand them to pay for return because it was their fault to sent me wrong size dress and wrong color shoes... it was worse then the worse nightmare the way I was threatened by chasing fireflies customer service. At the end I paid to return the items and I never got one of the dresse that they charged me for. A week later I called again to find out about the dress I never received and the lady said that the dress was sold out... what? How come you charge me for something you never sent to me? She just hung up the phone... I tried to call many more times and always I got a message saying that was between 35 and 50 people in line... waiting... waiting until the call hung up and at the end I lost money, I was threatened unfairly by rude unprofessional customer service. TO AVOID PROBLEMS AND HUMILIATION PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.
I ordered my daughters costume in earlier October. Its Oct. 31st and still no costume. The people answering the phone were rude and unprofessional. I would highly suggest NOT to use this company.
Ordered my daughters Halloween costumes on October 9th. Waited a couple of weeks and began to get worried. Noticed they charged my card right away but then the charge disappeared. I called the company and they had no record of my order. I reordered on the 23rd of October with guaranteed delivery by Halloween. My card was then charged 4 times and when I got my order receipt it had the October 9th order and the October 23rd order. Both packages are sitting with international bridge. Im not sure if this is a new shipping company but I did not have this issue last year when I ordered costumes. I was appalled at the customer service I received. The woman I talked to acted so inconvenienced and literally couldnt tell me ANYTHING about my order. So it would appear they went with a cut rate shipping company and are likely going to pay for it. And whoever is in charge of their customer service team should be fired immediately. If anyone ran a customer service center that resulted in customer service worse than anything Ive ever experienced I would fire them immediately. Wont ever order costumes from that site again. They look beautiful but the disappointment my children are experiencing over not getting the costumes they carefully picked out is making for a very sad Halloween. Luckily I am scraping together something similar but when youre paying top dollar for a costume from a company that tries to look like Nordstrom quality and you end up shopping at second hand stores for a last minute costume you know something is very wrong and the company likely wont leave any sort of legacy. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. And their lack of sympathy for the situation their customers are in is the biggest F U Ive ever received while spending money.
For years I have been ordering my daughter halloween costumes and every year we have some sort of an issue. Two years ago, the dress from the shoulder down came apart, the costume just split at the seems. Last year, the accessories broke, and the hem on the dress came out. Saturday night, getting my daughter ready for Trick or Treat, the zipper split. Every year I have to pin her costume together! Every year I never call, because I never have the time to wait to get to a customer service representative. By the way, the costumes that I purchased are not cheap, and they are not too tight on my daughter. They are just made like crap. Right now, after 36 minutes, I am still caller number 19 waiting to get through to a customer service representative. Well, while I wait, I might as well write a review... Yes, I did try contacting customer service via e-mail, and I NEVER get a response. Stay Away! Buy that Disney costume... They stay together for me! Oh... time check... 44 minutes and I am caller number 12! Do not put yourself through this!... I finally spoke to someone, it took over an hour. I am returning the item, and they are waiving the stocking fee, and letting me return the costume on October 31,2018. I had a very nice customer service rep., but still will not order from them next year!
Like some of you, I ordered on October 15 for expected delivery by Oct. 31.
I sent two emails and called about my order.
I was number 54 in the queue, and decided I could not stay on the phone any longer.
So far, I have had no response. I have only received an email confirming the order, I have not heard from customer service, nor have I received a customer order number for the order placed.
If you have already placed an order with this company and have not received it,
Call your credit card company and have them stop payment. Then, contact Chasing Fireflies and tell them you wish to cancel your order.
As far as legal action, perhaps a class action suit could be pursued against chasing fireflies for false advertising and failure to deliver as promised among other complaints.
Justice had a class action suit for misleading advertising. I received a $30 coupon for that.
After reading all these reviews I guess I am definitely not the only one having problems. Good bye chasing fireflies. NEVER AGAIN!
I will never, ever order from this company again. Not only do I now have to scramble to find a replacement costume for my son, but I lost many hours holding just to talk to a person who gave me the WRONG INFORMATION. I ordered a costume on October 17 that did not have any stipulations on it with personalization. It said it would take 7 days and then be shipped out, in time for Halloween. A week later I called to receive an update, since nothing came online. I waited for over an hour to be told the costume work order was done and would be shipped out this week, guaranteed by Oct 30 delivery. I even asked if I should upgrade shipping to overnight and the person said no. Great. I waited 5 more days for a shipping confirmation, which I didn't receive. I then emailed and finally called again. This time, I waited over an hour and half to talk to someone and by that time I was livid. She explained to me that costume was not done, that I shouldn't have ordered the personalization which was holding it up and that it wouldn't arrive in time for Halloween. After I asked to send it out today without the personalization, she said they couldn't do that. Currently, I'm on hold again to talk to a supervisor who I'm sure wont' be able to do anything, but hoping. There was no mention on the website about the personalization having to be in at certain time before Halloween, and I thought the seven days that it said was plenty of time. And the fact that I can't the real story until I call again is just ridiculous. I've wasted too much time on an already overpriced costume. I will never order from here again or recommend it to anyone.
We ordered a costume on October 13th. It arrived on October 23 but in the wrong color. We waited on hold for two hours! They assured us it would be delivered by Thursday, October 26. It's not here yet. We waited on hold for another two hours and after learning the call center was located in the Philippines, they hung up on us. They have great stuff but their customer service is absolutely the worst. Currently my daughter is crying herself to sleep because the costume she was telling her friends she would be wearing tomorrow isn't here. Never order from them again!
I placed an order for my son's Halloween costume on October 5. I called on October 20 to inquire into the status. After waiting in a queue for 45 minutes, the rep told me she wasn't sure what the hold up was, I would get 10% off my order, the shipping charges would be waived and I would receive the costume by October 27. As of October 26, my online order has not changed to reflect any of the foregoing. I have been on hold waiting to speak to a rep for one hour and 16 minutes so far and am number 19 in the queue. At this point, I just want to cancel my order so I don't have to incur shipping charges to return the costume when it arrives after Halloween. I will never order from them again. HORRIBLE.
TERRIBLE! DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! I ordered a costume October 19th and got my email confirming. Yesterday, Oct 25, I had still not gotten shipping confirmation so I called. On hold an hour and hung up. Called back today. First, I was told I would PROBABLY have my order by Monday (this, after listening to their canned message while on hold that any orders placed by the 23rd would be arrive by the 30th) I asked, PROBABLY? What about for sure? Then, she told me I should probably go buy another costume just in case. I demanded to know for sure that my 9 year old daughter would have her dark angel costume by Monday. The rep asked her "boss" and then came back on line to tell me they were out of stock and she was very sorry! HELLO! When was someone going to tell me this? That's right, they weren't. So, when Monday came and my daughter had no costume for Halloween, it would be so sad too bad. BUYER BEWARE! I will NEVER NEVER shop here again. Don't send me your magazines!
Ordered on 10/2 and received confirmation email. Called on 10/13 to check status as no updates had been received since then. Offshore customer rep was unapologetic and couldn't answer with certainty on order but "thought" it was being prepared for shipping. Sent an email requesting status four days ago and no response. Called tonight, 10/25 and waited 5 minutes to move from 103rd in the queue to 101st. Need to go find another outfit now. Have ordered many times before with no issue but the company was sold in late 2016 to a company that is apparently inept at running businesses.

Was in hold for 45 minutes on Oct 23rd for the rep to tell me she would escalate the process so it would be pulled and shipped immediately.
It's the 25th and there is still no shipping information available. Heading out tonight to try to find a last minute costume.

DO NOT buy anything from Chasing Fireflies. I placed an order on October 11th for an in stock Halloween Costume. I paid for expedited shipping. Because I wasn't receiving my order, I spoke to Customer service on Sunday, October 22nd, and they said my order would ship either Monday or at the latest Wednesday, October 25th. They said I would have my order by Friday, October 27th. I called today, Wednesday, October 25th, and the customer service representative said that my item was OUT OF STOCK when I placed my order (even though it said it was in stock on October 11th, and the customer service representative said it was in stock on Sunday, October 22nd). They are a horrible company, which has a nice catalogue, but obviously doesn't know how to run a business. These other negative reviews are true. If I could give them 0 stars, I would.
Ordered a costume 9/11. Listed as in stock. Called 10/12, told it was backordered. They couldn't say when it would be shipped. Rep stated shipping would be expedited and hung up on me. Called again about 5 days later. No idea if or when it's coming. No offer to refund. No expedited shopping noted. And she hung up on me. Is there legal action I could take?
Answer: I only had to call once several years ago to exchange for a different size. Had immediate exchange.
