I've been using this platform since 2020 and it was only good experience so far. I have an Address verification which is more than enough as I'm not making any large transactions. Registration and Verification process took me couple of minutes, thus no problems with that. I'm mostly using an app, sometimes web version becomes handy as well. I really like new Exchange Plus feature that gives more possibilities for the experienced traders. Besides, you can always find something new on their University page. Security is on a high level, never faced anything strange with that, but it requires extra caution from their side, thus from time to time I can receive some additional verifications check like selfie with a card. In a nutshell, good and reliable platform to use.

I like their staking program. I bought some crypto when it had a very high price and now, while the market is bearish, I am holding the coins and getting rewards, and I can sell them anytime as Cex.io don`t have lock-up period for staking. Also, I had some problems during the verification, but the support team helped me. So thank you, guys.

So I put 100 dolalrs thinking I was putting plenty to pay for 70 to sign up for oceansea.co By the time I put money in, bought ether and sent like. 04 ether, these cork soakers charged me so much in fees I only had like 65 or so to the destination. Absolutely zero contact ability, absolute filth. I was about 10 to upload and purchase the ether, then. 01 freaking ether to send. 04, which is 25 PERCENT of what I tried to send. Absolutely criminal.

Love the exchange and the experience it offers. Verification was quick for me variety of payment options (especially card support) is really practical). Trading and buying crypto is easy. Missing more orders types, but for simple buy and sell is more than enough. Love staking service (practial in bear maker), and mobile app are topping my list!

I made 3 purchased on cex.io and i verified all the 3 credit cards pictures as requested taking a selfie with the cards and me visible, 2 of the pictures were accepted and third rejected and after that my account "has been flagged for suspicious activity. They let you put the money and then suspended the account after good verification and without reason? Now im here waiting after almoust 1 week and my funds frozen, please solve the issue fast.

Unlock my account so i can withdrawal my money Cex.io service is crap, poor support, that is stealing peoples money for no reason, i will never use it again.

My account was blocked due to "international sanctions imposed on Russian residents." Despite my current residence and employment in a different country, my account remained subject to this block.

Throughout the past 10 months of communication with CEX.io, I endeavored to prove that I am not a resident of Russia. Their initial request for an apartment lease agreement expanded to include additional documents like an internet payment invoice, a driving license, exhaustive proofs of my current source of income (including bank statements and payslips), and even detailed explanations of the source of funds for the past three years.

Despite adhering to all their requirements, I am left in a deeply distressing situation where my funds remain blocked. For the past two months, I have received no response from CEX.IO except for the repeated assertion that their compliance department needs more time.

It's noteworthy that even according to the EU Commission's consolidated FAQ, "assets on the accounts and/or in the services should be returned to the customer, or be converted into fiat currency or another asset category that is not subject to sanctions". However, CEX.io has chosen to unlawfully withhold my funds.

Given these circumstances, I am compelled to escalate this matter further. My forthcoming actions involve lodging complaints with both the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC) and the United States Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

In summary, my experience with CEX.IO has been characterized by frustration, disappointment, and a sense of injustice. Their treatment of my case and their use of discriminatory practices have undermined my confidence in the platform. I hope that this review serves as a cautionary tale for others who may encounter similar challenges.

The exchange blocked my money on the basis of my nationality. I am a citizen of Belarus, although I have not been there for more than a year due to the political situation. I spent 67 days in prisons for protesting against the authoritarian regime of Belarus. Everyone of my family, except for a 10-years-old brother, was at least once arrested and tortured in Belarus.

"We will follow the sanctions that are being implemented. As soon as they are lifted from your country" β€” this is what they wrote.

But there is no sanctions imposed on me. Sanctions are imposed on Mr. Putin, Mr. Lukashenka and their friends, not freedom fighters who suffered the most from the post-soviet authoritarian system.

The company illegally holds my money. Since my funds were frozen, their price dropped at least 200%, plus, of course, they don't pay me any interest for holding my savings.

Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable. Harassing the weak, people like me, who first had to flee from the regime to Ukraine, then had to flee from the regime for the second time, people who have little rights abroad, is immoral.

I am open to communication in relation to this matter with media. This company shouldn't get away with it.

I have been a registered cex.io user since 2016. Used it to mostly buy cryptocurrency.

Last year I initiated an upgrade to cex.io's highest level of verification. Provided them with a comprehensive set of documents, including IRS Forms 1040A, invoices to my clients, bank statements, passport scan, etc.

When they asked for screenshots of destination wallets for withdrawal transactions from 2016-2017 I decided to cancel the verification upgrade and withdraw my bitcoins. Made three attempts to withdraw coins, but they blocked all of them. Shortly after that I received an email from cex.io informing that my account transactions are suspended.

And now I have a volatile cryptocurrency on a CEX with blocked transactions and no replies to numerous emails.

I am a U.S. citizen from Massachusetts who pays taxes and obeys laws. It is quite unexpected to witness this kind of attitude from a CEX who positions itself as a reputable company. I've started consulting with experts in the crypto community, lawyers and law enforcement agencies, but I still hope for a peaceful resolution of the issue.

Here is my last email message to cex.io, which is still unanswered:

I believe my funds are locked illegally, without a reason and a proper notice.

Hence, I have questions addressed mostly to the legal department:

1. Transactions I have been questioned about took place in 2016-2017. I upgraded to Address verification level after those transactions took place. I made a handful of transactions afterwards. So why cex.io is looking at the old transactions? What is so special about those transactions anyway? Can you provide any details?

2. I have no access to destination wallets, since they were not mine. Even if they were mine, why am I required to take their screenshots and share with someone? That is an unsafe practice.

3. Who authorized cex.io to request wallet screenshots from the customers? Is there a specific document or a legal entity you can refer to?

4. You mentioned regulators and rules you must follow. Would you please name any of them? For example, FTC, FDIC, FinCEN, FRB, SEC, CFTC, IRS, FINRA, State Bank Divisions who issued licenses to cex.io, etc?

5. It looks like The Terms of Use referred by one of your customer support representatives, https://cex.io/terms have changed significantly since my registration with cex.io back in 2016. I don't remember seeing any update notifications. How does cex.io make sure their customers review and accept new editions of ToS?

Actually a reasonable exchange, but gross incompetence, e.g. improper mixing of ERC20 / BRC20 tokens

This exchange is technically well build, has a broad range of currencies and good deposit / withdrawal options. But they really did not distinguish between ERC-20 and BRC-20 tokens! They offered deposits for both, mixing the tokens and handlingh them as if they are the same, though anybody in crypto space should know that any bridged tokes have an additional layer of risk.

And they failed miserably to handle this additional layer of risk properly. When the pNetwork wrapped GALA incident happened back in November 2022, they took the full blow because they did not even monitor the bridge proeprly, so they did notnitice what happened for hours and days. It took them 5 months to even think about a strategy how to handle this.

Now, as a result, I have a singificant amount of GALA that I bought in a good faith on this exchange as arbitrage opportunity on CEX.IO and they stole it from me by converting it to pGALA five months later! They are refusing to either return my GALA or negotiate - they just send some "instructions" which they call a "settlement" which would rip me off my GALA for a fraction of its value.
All this while keeping my funds hostage now for 9 months! It is more and more obvious that I would need to seek legal assistance. That's more than unfortunate as
A) I am a good customer for six years now, and have been usually satisfied all this years (that's why I still give two stars instead of one)
B) I am willing to tal about a reasonable settlement, just not that low as their current offer which is far off (but no reply yet), and legal actions will just increase costs on both sides.

I might update this review with the outcome of the legal action.

Tip for consumers:
"Quality" refers to their competence to handle the tech behind crypto, which would have easily prevented the incident - e.g. do NOT mix tokens and their wrapped counterparts in the same customer funds pool, or do NOT offer bridged deposits without proper handling the additional risk.
