After canceling my subscription, they still charged a renewal fee and with no warning. They don't display a contact number or address, which is a bad sign. No reputable company hides that information. Not only are they shady and dishonest, they are unreasonable once they are confronted.
They refused to refund my money even though I don't use their service and didn't authorize continuous payments. So now I am forced to go through a lengthy process with my credit card company to get my money back.
I cancelled my subscription - at least I thought I had. Apparently you have to confirm 5 or 6 times that you really want to cancel. I had surgery on Tuesday and therefore have to take strong medication. I thought I was trough with the cancellation process. Then a few days later I saw that the money had been taken from my account. I contacted them immediately but busuu doesnt care bad luck for the customer.
EU customers are protected by EU regulations and if busuu refuses to reimburse you 100%, do not accept their 50%offer and ask your credit card company or bank for a chargeback. Important do not use busuu during that time.

I was seriously thinking of signing up for premium Busuu to learn Italian but, after reading these reviews, especially in relation to cancellation issues (I was already sceptical that cancellation did not seem to be an easy option) I have decided not to commit myself. Maybe Amy S (Customer Service Manager) should be looking at these issues very carefully and addressing them asap.
This is not a good way to learn a language as it skips lots of steps and practice required to continue learning. More importantly, when you cancel the membership through the app it doesn't actually cancel it! I cancelled my membership more than 6 months ago but just received an $80 ridiculous fee for renewal for something that I thought was cancelled! But apparently when you cancel through the app it doesn't actually cancel. They refuse to give a refund on the auto renew even though I cancelled my same account twice now, the 2nd time having to go online to confirm that it's really cancelled now. This is a money-making scheme. No customer service or consideration was shown even though I messaged the company MOMENTS after they sent the charge through. This is a terrible company and horrible service!

PLEASE! Stay away from these people. As soon they get your credit card number you are done. Every year they will renew your member ship specially premium with out asking you. There is no option of cancellation. This part of their website is not function. I send lots of email to them and their advise go to subscription but not workinggggggg. That`s why I say they are THIEVES careful.

Signed up for a month and then was automatically charged for months to come! I tried to cancel which I was able to do but I will continue to be charged until September... 5 months from now! Buyer beware!

I got last year a one year Premium Subscription with a 40€ price.
This month after one year I have tried to calcel automatic renewal.
Their web interface contain multiple stages of cancellation buttons, where last one is hidden in the colors where one could not notice it, and you do not know whether you have to press it on or not. I assumed that my cancellation process is complete. But it is NOT.
Busuu charge me 80€ for another one year Premium Subscription where I do not need it, and I do not want it.
Busuu is just a fraud company which is getting your money by selling services, that you do not need it any more.
I have a fatal recommendation for you, if you accidentally subscribe to it, just cancel your automatic renewal by following all steps. Be careful in the last step. Where there is a hidden last button that you have to press on. And be sure that you get the cancellation confirmation.
And most importatly, cancel your payment medium as well.
My payment was through PayPal and you have to also cancel PayPal automatic renewal order in the PayPal system.
In best case, do not use PayPal, just use secure online Credit Card banking where limits and purchases are 100% in your control.
Otherwise, PayPal will not accept any excuse and be a business partner to Busuu to charge you 80€ like a robbery in the streets.
Definitely don't pay for a premium subscription. I took the Japanese course through the beginning intermediate level. The grammar gets progressively worse, to the point where the statements are inherently incorrect. Somewhere around the middle of the second beginning level, programming bugs began to appear. The drag and drop didn't, and on more than several occasions, the dialogue wouldn't even load.
Don't bother to try and get it fixed. Busuu didn't fix it, and then sent me a message saying that since I hadn't contacted them in a week (why would I?), they would close the ticket. I mentioned that there is nowhere to report errors and the customer service agent (and I kid you not) said that's because they have so many errors they aren't accepting any more at this time.
Even for free, there are countless better options for learning a foreign language.

They make it nearly impossible to cancel and even when you think you are canceled, you are not. I found out the hard way that I was not canceled when I noticed I was charged another membership fee! I emailed to get a refund and they refused. Stay away from this company - they will steal your money!
Busuu is a fraud! They contacted me through my youtube platform, and 2 days before the video is suppose to go up they back out. They are doing this to alot of other youtubers, they are a SCAM. Just putting it out there for anyone trying to work with this company.
Like many other people here I made the same mistake, I forgot to cancel my subscription and was charged the full amount for the next year. Tried to reason with the customer service as I hadn't used the app in months and was not planning to use it, but got the same answer "Your fault, blah blah blah". Moreover, I was told that they have canceled my subscription and I won't be charged the following year, which was a lie. I canceled it myself, and if hadn't checked it myself I guess they would have simply charged me again for the next year. Be very careful with this company and their shady subscription.
When I first tried the free version of Busuu, I received daily emails prompting me to get the Premium Plus version. After I purchased my one-year subscription, I didn't get any emails except for the receipt--which, by the way, did not direct me to the Terms of Service. By the time a year had rolled around, I had long before lost interest in the service, as it wasn't particularly useful. I hadn't received any emails in ages, until about a week ago when they told me they had already renewed my subscription. They did not warn me in advance. When I asked for a refund, that's when I found out that the subscription is renewed automatically, without notice and that this is their policy. They also told me that they had cancelled my subscription. Well, at least that's something, I had thought. But when I checked my profile, I discovered they had NOT cancelled my account and that I was going to be billed again in May 2022.

I am me too victim of Busuu and their method.
I discovered today that 69.99 eur were taken from my bank account.
After contacting busuu service stating that I did not receive any email from their part stating that my subscription was coming to an end, they just said that I should have read the terms and conditions.
They automatically renew your subscription for a period of ONE YEAR with an impressive price for an app of almost 70eur.
They don't send you ANY renewal email saying that you come close to your end period, so you can be sure that no one will remember their end day. This is SUCH a deceptive technique.
I will try my best to fight this company and get back my money as well as warning people to NEVER take a subscription there.
They offer the service quite all right but they'll charge you unnecessarily. In my case, I signed up AGAIN for premium, the first time I didn't have the problem others complained about probably because I'd closed that account and the card won't have worked. Well, this month I faced the issue that seem common with them, I got charged $109.99 for 2 years subscription that I'd already paid for in March at $99. I got in touch with the Customer service and she couldn't find why they'd charge me for another subscription.
The worse part was, my subscription expiry date didn't change from the earlier payment I made.
I had to call my bank to report unauthorised payment and dispute the payment. My bank canceled my debit card and I canceled my subscription. These guys are terrible scammers or they've got some fraudulent worker somewhere working with them that they are unaware of.

Wouldn't refund my autocharge even though I never sign up for those. I tried the very day I saw the payment come out and had to report the fraud to my credit card company and cancel the card and they still charged me again.
I do love Babbel, though, and it's a much better program.
I signed up, thinking it was 'free.' Free was only for a few days. I cancelled it, but now I get constant promotional emails. The Unsubscribe link on the emails does not work. I wrote to "contact" on their website and asked to unsubscribe. Emails are still coming in. ALL I WANT IS TO UNSUBSCRIBE.

The customer service team sent the most standard, uncaring response, which basically amounted to "we have your money now, too bad". I have since sent two more emails and I have not received any further response from Busuu.
I signed up for the free portion to take a look, but the site was garbled with text running over on top of itself, I couldn't get technical support., and the links didn't work.
