I have experienced excellent acting, beautiful scenery and wonderful suspense watching Britbox. I look forward to finishing Miss Marple after 12 seasons of Poirot. It will take me years to go through all the great choices and variety of things to watch. The support team was quick and helpful with any problems that arose until I became more familiar navigating the site. Britbox is a wonderful escape from the dreadful news channels and questionable opinions I no longer consider helpful. Thank you from USA.
We first subscribed many years ago when BritBox was first available in Canada. Today we cancelled due to complete frustration with BritBox's inability to provide reliable viewing. We're on fibre, 250mbps, so there's no issue at our end; nor do we have any problems with our other services. BritBox however... We're now in the midst of our third in as many months of the inability to watch BritBox. So far this month we've lost 15% of our viewing days because BritBox refuses to recognise our log-in. Their Chat support is useless and the promised call by their Tech Support folks has yet to happen... now going into day 3.
Subscription for ancient stuff, regularly repeated, and no search engine before subscription!
Everything's trying to get you to subscribe nowadays - Sky, Netflix, Amazon, music streaming - even limited interest services like Disney!
Why would anyone pay money for old rope? Much of which is repeated on iPlayer/ITV Hub or free on UK Gold, etc.
I created 2 accounts without activating the free trial so I could actually search for programmes, but neither can be signed in and password resets do nothing!
Buffering is always an issue on Britbox using Roku no matter the internet speed. Try to do any navigation and it just spins and then freezes no matter what. 6 weeks I tried getting customer service help but just got automated (reboot) type answers and the the gall to follow-up with a 'are you still needing help or we can mark closed' msg when absolutely nothing done but uninstall/install instructions, restart roku, etc. NOTHING! Then if you haven't seen their programs on PBS long ago, you can watch 1-6 episodes of some obscure BBC series where actors are long ago retired/passed. Not worth the cost and aggravation waiting and waiting to page down. Arghh

I got brit box January 5,2021. Trying to set it up was disaster. Oh i forgot to tell you i paid for a year. Did not get it for 6.99.and if you pay a year you can't get your money back. Back to setting it up. They said put this code in didn't work. Called the tech people they walked me through it. Wrong. Yes i got 1 tv done or so i thought. Then the 1 tv where it went i don't know. Called again got it on my 1 tv again, yes lost it again. I can only get it on my pc. I should have went through prime. Now no brit box paying and can't get it on any tv's (3). And i don't have 2-3 hours to play with the tech people. Thanks for listening. Nk

In April 2021 I bought, via my credit card, a one-year BritBox [BB] subscription. About a month ago when wanting to watch BB screen required me to sign in again. No luck using my email and password. Went to BB Help and was advised BB has no record of subscription. So, I got full payment details from the bank and gave to BB. Now, 4 weeks later, and depending on who of the many changing help agents that respond, (i) there is no record of payment, (ii) yes there is a record but not under my email and (iii) all fixed and ready to go - but when I try to sign in, screen states I must buy a subscription.
I am so fed up!
I started the free trial of Britbox and it clearly is unusable in it's current form. For Boxsets it doesn't remember where you left off and intros cannot be skipoed. There is no Children's content which could be a great subscription winner and the navigation in general is awful. I have another three weeks left on the free trial but unless the interface improves very quickly I will not pay for such poor service. A bit if user testing before going live would have been much better than this current flop.
I watched a Detective story on this website recently. I am used to not seeing violence on British TV. This one is horrifying, with graphic TV images of bodies of girls recently killed. This is not suitable for US TV or anyone. Most of the stuff does not have recognized actors. My wife started crying and departed my home. Shame on you. I will unsubscibe.
Not only does the service not work, but you call up customer service and the only thing they can help with is leaving you angry and stressed with no resolve to the issue.
The issue being that i cancelled the account as it was the worst excuse for a streaming channel, they did not actually cancel it and i had to try again and again (customer service will not confirm its closed)
They will take money from your account after it is cancelled so you will have to block through the bank.
This is a disgusting excuse for a service, steaming and customer and its surprising they are still around, hopefully not much longer as they deserve to be shut down. Wish i could give minus stars..
The site has some good content - not great as you'd probably think of lots of stuff (many, many comedies for instance) which could be great on here. I suspect the PC brigade have probably stopped many of them being shown.
The app is awful with programmes erroring if paused and, the worst part, the need to activate with a code everytime it's used. I wouldn't bother until they add a bit more content anyway - it's okay if you like Downton and Dr Who and can put up with the appalling application
Great selection of programmes to watch but always something wrong with the app itself. After watching one programme and it goes to skip on to the next it comes up video error, in the mornings I put my tele on and goto watch something it comes up video error, it's an absolute nuisance i defiantly won't be paying monthly for it.
Britbox is a pile of absolute rubbish. Got half way through a series, but this was not without numerous technical difficulties, as many times while I was watching, the sound would turn off, the screen would go black, and every time I tried to rewatch an episode because it had randomly paused because of the poor quality, it wouldn't work. The horrendous quality makes me question why anybody would waste their money on this rubbish. Thankfully, I'm still only on the 30 day trial. Look for a better streaming service to spend your money on, as I would absolutely not recommend Britbox. £5.99 a month is a complete rip off for this rubbish.
Signal freezes from time to time. I have had two providers and the same issue with both so it is Britbox. Call customer service and received response that it was an issue, the freezing even she had it. Tech support is working on it?
I love the content but it freezes, then catches up or turns off completely. Far less reliable then other streaming services on the same tv and ISP. Don't think there has been a single hour and a half program without some form of interruption. The service always blames the ISP but I stream other services without issue.
The worst streaming site I have ever used. You can't sign in even when you are a paying customer. This is another example of the losers at the BBC. They can't even run a simple streaming site or app. Go back to the drawing board losers.
Britbox offers a large number of British programming from BBC and ITV. They also sneak in shows from All4. A nice mix of movies, mystery, right down to comedy and game shows. It should be a good streaming service but it has constant technical issues that they can't seem to fix. The biggie (just like AcornTV) is when you use a browser to view their content. After watching a stream for a while you'll be told the content is not available on this device. Your Watch List will disappear and you then can't watch anything. One screwup after another. They do fix it eventually but the wait is annoying.
It just seems that there isn't a streaming service anywhere out there that hires IT people that actually know what they're doing. They just keep bandaiding everything. Oh ya and keep raising the price with no improvements.
All of my streaming services work just fine. Even the more obscure ones, but I try to cast this to my TV, and I might get 5 minutes of viewing, and then buffer for 10-30 seconds. It's annoying as hell, and I'll be canceling this at the end of my free trial.
I was given a gift subscription to Britbox, but they won't let me access it unless I enter MY credit card information. Good grief, this is a GIFT! I realize they want my credit card info so they can automatically renew the service once the subscription is over, but I don't want them to have my credit card info. Other streaming gifts I have received let the gift-giver decide whether or not they want to renew the subscription. BritBox will not refund my friend's money. Very disappointed.
The problem I'm having is that once an episode of my series has ended, if I miss something, I cannot replay it. Every time I click on the episode, it flashes and then skips to the next. I see no replay option. I can't get it to start the episode over. Beyond frustrating.
After I bought a one year subscription, Britbox billed me for a renewal after only nine months. And they wouldn't let me login unless I paid for a renewal! Their web site would freeze up when ever you tried to communicate with customer service. When I finally found a telephone number for Britbox, a recorded message told me to use their web site! Roku was no help in resolving the issue.
I will have to agree with the majority of reviews here. The service is rushed and poorly thought out. There is no android apps, not ability to cast to TV.
The BBC should be able to put their entire library online. There is so much missing from the database and then they expect you to pay £6 a month (on top of your licence fee) This service should be FREE to all UK TV Licence Holders...
A feeble attempt to rival (LOL) other online streaming services. Another BBC hash up which as obviously been implemented by people in the BBC who have not got a clue.
All those who cant get the money back - Call your bank or credit card and make a chargeback... pretty simple!
On May 22 took advantage of the 7 day free trial with purchase of annual subscription at end of trial period... BIG Mistake! On May 29th the annual bill was charged to my credit card. I was still within my 7 days and was in the process of contacting Britbox when I saw the charge had been made. The Britbox agent was hard nosed about cancellation and refund, still within the 7 days. I then asked to speak to a supervisor to discuss the issue. The agent could not connect me and told me a note had been forwarded marked urgent. The following day I contacted them again and was promised a call back. Today, my third attempt I told them I would stop payment on the credit card charge and write a nasty review about their service. Guess what... agent contacted manager and refund was processed. Beware
Closed captioning (cc) wouldn't work on at least one program.
After watching an episode of Shetland, I had to unplug my tv power cord for 3-5 minutes to watch the "next episode." I contacted Britbox about this problem and after several back & forth emails, my access to Britbox was denied. My tv screen said I needed to subscribe.
Lots of complaints. When it works it is great BUT for 90% of the time you only get half a program. For example last night 26th April could only watch 35%. Kept cutting off, had to reload or change channel. So said to hell with it and tried SKY Cinema. Went to bed early same thing, Now today 27th April told subscription ran out. Paid for six months used it for a month or let me rephrase that had it a month able to watch it 30% of time. STAY AWAY till they get it right.

I have been charged for Britbox on a monthly basis by EE even though I never agreed to this add-on. The customer service from EE has been really poor and I have tried again and again to have the add-on removed with no luck. I have been charged £5.99 monthly for an app which I don't use and EE have been most unhelpful in dealing with my complaint about Britbox as an add-on. Britbox is not an app I use and I'm not interested in being charged unfairly for this add-on by a large mobile provider making too much money out of customers like me. Not impressed with Britbox and I'm not surprised to see there are many negative reviews on their customer service.
After the free trial I was immediately charged and the service abruptly STOPPED WORKING. Repeated phone calls to customer service went nowhere. When I followed their instructions I was presented with a pay up screen. I already paid up. No service. Lost my money and cancelled. They do NOT issue refunds!
They have done the website a bit like Netflix but when i installed the app on my 2017 4k samsung tv it failed to open a dozen times!
All i got was a sign in box in the upper right of screen which i couldnt click on.
Signed up easily via the Website but after i had spent 20 minutes adding shows and movies to My List i suddenly realised that you can only add 12 and after that when you add a show it just deletes the 12th one on the list.! Poor poor design.
Website goes very very slow at times and while a decent idea those of us in the Uk and of certain age have seen 95% of the content we would like to watch already.
Sorry but after trial i am cancelling.
