I wish I would have read this before I decided to try Yelp ads.
Signed up for the $300 promotion and monitored the progress to ensure I didn't exceed the promo amount.
The ads actually hurt me rather than helped, I ended up filling my time responding to all unqualified leads who didn't take the time to read about what I offer. It didn't bring in a single new client
When I got a surprise bill for $88, I called Yelp to inquire. The rep I spoke with was verbally abusive and when I asked to speak to his manager, he hung up on me.
I've called several times to highlight the issue and asked for a manager call back.
Two weeks later, I've spoken to a number of reps who have no customer support training and no way to get me in touch with a manager.
They will swindle you, abuse you, and then ignore you. Buyer Beware!
They call you 3 times a day un till you sign up for the $300 credit promotion.: then. That charge you for clicks you never seen. No calls. No business. And the sales person never gets back to you. Luckily I got the credit card company to stop the charges. Come get me and try to charge me.
AWFUL, I have advertised on so many different sites and this is the first time that I have felt completely robbed. Sales person signed me up for the free $300 worth of advertising, received and email that showed everything it would be doing for me once I agreed. Then never heard another thing. Until I looked at my checking account and notice they charged me $525 two months in a row! Called to find out how this happened and the guy from yelp was a complete $#*!.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB and I suggest everyone else who feels this way does the same. We are still working through the complaint, but YELP is currently saying they will in no way refund me & that I am going to get charge over $200 on April first for the remaining. I will not accept their response and will keep fighting it.
This company is such a scam! I signed up with them because I'm a new business owner and knew Yelp was a popular review site. For 5 days 5 different people searched for my key words and not only did my ad not show up my salon didn't even show in the natural search! Then I get told "sorry, I want there so there is nothing I can do about it." I sent them screen shots as proof and then i get "I'll try to look into it. I'll talk to other people and see what they say." People outside of my country clicked my ad! So for 5 days the only exposure that i had, that i was depending on wasn't there and all i get is I'm sorry. I'm just waiting for my ad.iq team to kick in. Save yourself the money and stress and find a real marketing team to help with your business. There are plenty out there that have the strength to build up your business and internet presence.
Their business website is opaque and difficult to navigate. They also do not send account updates; ie I did not get a statement, or even a notification of a statement for services. I thought I had only done a very low-dollar upgrade, only to be hit with a $420 debit to my business account, which YELP will not refund. For this $400+ bill, I got 13 link clinks. That works out to $30 dollars a lead, as compared to Facebook, where my CONVERTED leads average under $2 each. Yelp's business practices are sketchy af, and clearly advertising with them yields very little in the way of actually promoting the business or converting customers.
I had contact for 6 months only. They continued to charge me and no answer. Now they are threatening me for reporting. They stopped publishing good reviews from from my clients. This is a fraud company.
Stole my money. Cancelled my account and still took money from card on file. I had cancelled 2 weeks before the first charge. Couldn't get through to customer service for 1 hour after being on phone and email didn't work either.
I received an email to claim $300 in credit to try Yelp out. I entered the promotional code, and that was the end of that. I never received any leads, and I never heard back from Yelp.
3 months later, they've charged my account $900. I NEVER agreed to the charges and never wanted the service. They never sent me an invoice or a paid receipt. They just started taking money out of my account under my nose.
I've emailed demanding my money back. From the many negative reviews with the same problem, it appears I'm not alone in this scam.
They took down reviews that people who don't use yelp often but I still see people who give one review and never log back in still show it doesn't make sense I thought yelp is legit but I really think this is how they make money putting false reviews ask to pay monthly saying they will bring customers it is 1% chances out of 100%
How can a site that is based off getting the best front of house service for its "users" have the absolute worst service for its customers? Their tactics are agressive, their fees are outrageous, their promises are blatantly wrong. What is good about them? Ummmm... they have 24/7 support (but you cant do anything with your account outside of business hours). ALSO they don't send you a bill, they just charge your card.
This company will tell you anything to get you to use they're ads campaign
It is worthless and they are in business because of our own stupidity.
There is better ways to get out there. This is not legit and you will get so many competitor calls from companies like yelp that want your business.
F anything stick to the free app
The gentleman who for 2 weeks insisted to sign me up said no more then 300$ a month and about 10$ a day. I said ok i am ready. He said call back in 15 day, if you don't like then stop. On the 13th day, it all went wrong, i had a bill for 280, and was told i sigh up for some Advance program, and i was extra $$$. Long story short, they bill me 501$ and they told me " is pretty self explanatory, you clicked, you sigh up, you pay". My answer was the guys never mention all the extra cost. They are horrible and deceiving.
Yes they promote your business with ads that you create but they lie about costs to get you to sign up and then continue to state that you have to pay the full amount as they won't issue refunds. I was very tentative from the beginning and told the person I wasn't interested in spending money. She stated that I would only start paying once I got a steady flow of customers and that it would be a small fee once a week. They charged me $15 dollars daily! And didn't notice me until I had over 300 in fees to pay. I was misinformed in order to apply for a service I didn't want or need.
One of the most costly, infuriating decisions I've ever made in business. YELP sales methods border on, or are actually, criminal. Complete WASTE of time and money.
YELP completely mis-represented what I would receive. They completely mis-represented and falsely portrayed the demand for like services. Etc. Etc. COMPLETE SHAM.
Don't do it.
Totally misleading straighten out now lies your money is thrown out the window swear they have people on their payroll that email you just to burn up your money and jobs that never come through just a waste of your time and money right now I'm in a dispute over a bill that they try to Bill me from previously scamming me they had my credit card already on files and without my permission used it and charge me another $164.14. So please please whatever you do do not use Yelp
Yelp for Businesses is a total fraud and scam. Their reps are relentless in selling their marketing package. I have received over 300 emails and not ONE single job has come from any of them, not one! Most emails are fake accounts and come in after midnight (we do furniture repair/upholstery), who is thinking of that at that time? No one! I believe Yelp pays people to do that in order to string you into buying their packages. Also, reviews from our REAL customers, do not get published, I called them and they said they would fix it and have not. DON'T BE FOOLED!
Nonstop calls pushing their service. They hide your good reviews and only show the negative ones. Their telemarketers use high pressure tactics to push you onto signing on to one of their many high priced packages.
I regret that I got convinced to sign up for their ads after being offered $900 promo code and saying I will be only paying $300 a month and it turned out to be a DOUBLE of that. Super rude customer service I got hung up on. They also called other similar businesses and told them I have been successful with Yelp ads which is not true and tried to use my good name to convince them to sign up. I know that because other people contacted me to ask if that's true. I am pretty sure the only people who clicked on ads are the people yelp contacted to advertise and showed them my profile so hence where my $15 a click got spent on. Besides other curious about my yelp success businesses I got absolutely ZERO calls or any leads.
I own a roofing business that has 4.8 star rating on google with over 200 reviews. I also have many reviews on yelp, unfortunately yelp posts what reviews they want and not all of them. I received 11 5 star reviews. Yelp buried 10 of the 11 reviews. Yet
A 1 star review from 2 years ago is still at the top.
This is not fair and is hurting my business.
Yelp is a huge scam please do not support this business at all. They are very transparent in their practices, I have 42 great reviews all buried and not recommended including 9 great customer reviews in just 2 weeks one by one picked away and dumped into not recommended. They only leave negative reviews up and visible and also juggle reviews in and out of not recommended at their discretion. They are ripe for a class action lawsuit and they know it. If you dont pay your reviews are dumped into a non visible platform as not recommended to keep your rating very low
Answer: Good luck with that. You'll end up paying more for a lawyer than you'll ever save disputing the charges and they count on that. I got scammed hard by them. Just pay them off and chalk it up to a lesson learned. They always win. They lie to you. They lie to the debt collector and they're rich - so they can hold out longer than you can. Pay them off and walk away - poorer but wiser.
Answer: Block your credit card from this company and dispute any charges because you won't be able to contact anyone and request cancellation unless they call you. Even when they do call you and you cancel like I did, they will still keep charging you. They are a completely fraudulent company.
