“Sorta like photosig but for artists”

Sorta like photosig but for artists - great site if you are an aspiring artist, but I think not enough people are using the site to give valuable feedback. This is an offshoot of photosig, but not quite as good.

In its heyday, it was a charming community, and attracted several celebrities In their "day jobs" -- who kept their identities secret n the net. However, More to the point, it was much larger and varied and free-wheeling than now. Like several sites, the quirky and egomaniacal sysadmins killed it. Especially since they displayed their own art, and reacted viciously, to honest crits. Over time, one very good artist after another left, until there was... little... and still no recognition by the admins that they just_might_ have had some effect on The site's downhill slide... I was there for well over a decade, and saw many wonderful things. It never had the millions of comic art fans in their teens that defines deviantart, just small coteries of friends who enjoyed each other's art And commented accordingly.

Been a member for well over a decade, as was mentioned before, at one time there were some seriously phenomenal artists participating, but as the rules got lax, and the admins turned a blind eye, the mediocre began to dominate, and the real artists(i. E. professionals) began to leave in droves. This could have been averted by simply following the original guidelines of the site. I the latter years I was actively trying to recruit top-notch artists back to the site, but they would invariably show up, see page after page of generic photo edits(generally gleaned from stock sites) and never come back. It would appear that the site itself is currently down.

This used to be a very good site for artists to critique each other's work but it has been allowed to deteriorate and now has mainly mediocre photographs. Paintings I Love http://www.paintingsilove.com/ is a much better site for art critiques
