Reading the books, the books are not as easy to navigate through for my daughter(8) who has trouble reading, there is no button to read the pages so when she is struggling she gets frustrated with it, so you have to sit with her through it so it's not an independent activity.
For my son (3) pre k the activity is definitely not independent, he himself can not read and the pages and the math was great the first day it was simple things he sees daily, but the second day it was completely different it was asking for the actual words for number and what 3 year old reads actually words the number it self yes he can do that.
Both my kids 4 and 7 are using ADAPTED MINDS. Both of them enjoy it. We're focusing on maths and super skills at the moment, loved the mental health aspect of it especially. Teaching my child to have a growth mindset. Even though they can't do it now, they know they can work their way up to it if they persevere. The website is very engaging for the kids. They love watching the videos, the customisation of their avatar and pets, the store. Can't rate this highly enough. It's made helping my kids with their maths so much more enjoyable compared to DREAD which is what it used to be. THANK YOU for developing the website. I love it and would recommend it to all parents!
Pretty rough interface (click boxes are often missing or poorly aligned), questions are not age appropriate, very repetitive and not very engaging for kids. Gamifying learning is a great idea but you should test your product before trying to charge for it.
I signed up for the free trial to see if my daughter with ADHD would be interested in it. She ended up only seeking out the videos and watching them over and over instead of doing any learning. So I cancelled the account, but then it offers 5 months free whilst saying billing would resume on date that was just a week away? I cancelled anyway, then it says "You are on a Scholarship to AdaptedMind! YAY!" which I assume is supposed to be free, but I still tried to cancel. Then I was charged $76 AUD on 5 June, but the card I signed up with expired at the end of May, which is why I took the risk giving my card details in the first place. How are they able to still charge an expired card?
Unable to cancel subscriptions after several attempts. I happened to notice that they were still charging my credit card months later after I cancelled. When you follow steps by going to your accounts page, then cancel account, you never get an email confirmation. The following day or minutes later upon your return it shows account active again. Is there an ethics board or website to report this company's practice?
We've only used AdaptedMind (AM) a few times for math. My son loves it! I gave him the choice of traditional vs AM and he chose AM. I noticed he was having fun learning and then I noticed he was retaining the information. I highly recommend AM.
Boring lengthy math assignments (like 30 identical math problems to unlock the castle but then the castle isn't unlocked), some cartoons on repeat which prevented us to move on the next task. Too many US currency questions, we are in Vietnam and don't care about the US currency system. Books are ok but then again tons of questions and motivational talks afterwards. Not only my kid is bored but me as well. Sciences section doesn't even work or it's not really user-friendly because we tried 3 times and still didn't figure out how to collect 7 tokens. In general, very boring content and annoying app logistics.
I absolutely LOVE science and history. ALL my kids like watching them, from my 2 year old to my 14 year old. (They often pause and grab their siblings, dad, or I to watch some AMAZING fact. (I enjoy it, too. Its exactly what I am looking for). I also like that you can't repeat the exact same lesson OVER and OVER. It keeps up with what you have and haven't watched.
Math. I really loved the math in the beginning as it assigned a lesson and they worked until they finished it. Now, it seems, there is no- "YOUR DONE for the DAY!" which may be a setting I need to fix. They set timers for math and I don't care for keeping up with timers. I love that I'm emailed exactly what they accomplished for the day and what they missed and need to work on. I discovered my 6 year old has already started her next grade while my sons are on grade level. I like that it adjusts to my child so it doesn't go too fast and not too slow.
My grade 3 boy has really low confidence but after only about a week of Adapted Mind he's worked through so much and will finish an "episode" a night in either science, math or social studies. The only thing I would change - having to watch the episode entirely to redo a quiz is a bit of a pain and deters him from trying again but other that that it is extremely entertaining and engaging. Plus it encourages positive self talk and growth. I just love it.
The lowest grade is first grade, so my kindergartener needs more guidance and doesn't use it as much as my first grader who can read and navigate the site on her own.
She wanted to change the appearance of her animal avatar but eventually was more interested in the lessons and hatching a little critter. There isn't a way to go back or start over, and after the easier problems she needed more guidance. We're still new to it, and I was able to find ways to help teach her how to figure it out without just giving her the answers, but it would be good to know if there are hints to help the students directly during the practices.
So far, we are happy with our trial!
I trust that Adapted Mind will improve my son's mathematics skill.
Thanks and Best wishes,
Parent of Kaung
I like how my son can work on particular topic rather than app governed options all the time. I love monitoring his progress over the email
I never signed up for this. I've never even heard of it. I don't know how they got my card info. I reported it as fraud to my bank. Thankfully, I should receive a refund from my bank within 60 days. I don't even want to deal with talking to them. From the other reviews, it sounds like they give you the runaround just to keep charging your account after you've canceled anyway.
I had never even heard of this website until I saw 2 charges on my credit card Jan 1,2023. ($49.95 and $9.95). I had to Google the information on my statement, figured out what it was, and found that even according to their scam website it should have only been $9.95. I've since reported fraud and replaced my card. My children are in virtual school and have access to real websites provided for free by the school they are enrolled in. I've never even looked for something like this because we don't need it. I'm at a loss for how this was even possible. Someone needs to shut them down.
I signed up a grandson at the se time I signed up for Prodigy. My grandson didn't like Adapted Mind. And I, the busy homeschooling grandma forgot about it as he adored Prodigy. Year and a half later I discover they never sent more than the first email to me. I never got reminders, reports or email reminding us to use the site. Prodigy is always giving me updates. I forgot about it. But they didn't, they have been charging me for 16 months for a site used once. I was at fault, yes. Use Prodigy.
My son and I would still be using them, but he decided he would like to try public school this year instead of home school. And with the other after school activities, there's really not the time for it. But if he needs any extra tutoring in the future this will be the 1st place we go! My son loved it!
I was surprised by the quick support I received from AdaptedMind. They were readily available to resolve the issue. The content of the website is very good. It's a shame that the currency of my country is so devalued, getting very expensive for me to maintain the subscription.
Absolutely recommend this app. The app is engaging, self paced, entertaining and educational.
I just got scammed! The site asked for my credit card and then could not bring up the page. Please do not give them your credit card number.
These guys are unprofessional and rip you off. They charged USD 18 from my credit card instead of 9.95 and never made the refund. When I inquired they gave some crappy excuses that it is up for processing etc. Please report these people to whichever authority that takes care of these issues. Ban them and black list Adapted minds. They are scammers and using kids as baits!
