All the many that have already answered this have reasonably sound answers to your question. I have never meet anyone that is eager to give a complete stranger $850,000.00 in any form of currency. I would assum that something like a lottery is registered with local gaming commissions that regulate what they call Gaming in the USA it should simply be called what it is Gambling. The point to be made on the second part of my response is if it is really important for you to find out if there is any truth regarding the suspicious message you had gotten then it would be best for you to try to contact the local regulatory agencies in the country of the solicitors in question. Keep in mind that if you was to persue such an end ever it would be vary costly on your part as matters of possibly making international calls and also keep in mind you would need to find out there office hours this is possible via internet but then you have time zone issues of when it would be a good time for you to call them. I really recommend that you don't waste your time. Personaly I had in the past recieve false statments in the mail that said you have Won some large amount of money if what they had told me was really true then they would not had sent me a fake check. The people that made zorpia did not do it because they want to give money to someone they did it because they have other motives. Possibly they want your money or personally information so they can try to take out a loan in your name. Do not give them vital personal information about your self.

Owen,

This is a scam. I've received similar notices on Zorpia. I'm sure that if you respond the scammer will try to get you send them money as an entry fee or for some other reason, or ask for your bank account information to send your "prize" to. For the record, no one offers prizes like this online. Anytime you're approached with an unsolicited offer like this, it's a scam. The lottery industry is highly regulated to protect consumers from fraud and real prizes always require that you first sign up to win. They never randomly select people. Hope this helps.
