If i simply want to get more information from a customer who requested a quote, but not send a quote yet... why am i still charged if i had sent a quote? does thumbtack differentiate between an initial contact or clarification, and submitting a quote for which one is charged?

Thats a great question, Terri! Whenever you send a quote to someone for more information or providing a quote, this is when youll be asked to purchase Thumbtack credits. The best thing about Thumbtack is that youre only charged when you want to introduce yourself to the customer, so you have total control over who you talk to and how much you spend. If youre interested in working with the customer but you need more information, I encourage you to quote on the information available and let the customer know that the price is subject to change based on the scope of the project. When you receive the request, you’ll receive the customer's name and the general location of the project. One thing that can help you gain the customer's information is adding your contact information to the quote. You have the same person submitti g a job twice, and about 5 minutes apart. yet, why is the same exact job 2 credits on the first request & 5 credits on the second? it's the same job, same person. i demand a full refund; i'm going to the state attorney general's office of pam bondi.

We also have a system in place that doesn’t allow customers to place duplicate requests. If they do, they will be deleted as soon as we see them. Why doesn't thumbtack let the "losers" know who won the job and what the bid was that won? also why do alot of these requests look very similar? most lack details, are very vague & i also feel that thumbtack makes up alot of these requests to get you to use up your credits just to get you to buy more. and also why is no price break if you buy a larger amount- they are all $1.17 each so what is my incentive to buy a larger amount? wouldn't it make more sense to offer a lower cost per credit if you buy a larger dollar amount?

We keep the prices that other pros charge private because we don’t want professionals to feel like they have to undercut each other in order to get hired. Every business has its value, and we want you to be able to focus on showing your value to customers to get hired. Requests come from real customers that visit our site. They sometimes may be unfamiliar with what the work entails, so we try to make our request forms as helpful as possible to get the information that pros need to quote. With whichever request form you feel is too vague, we’d love your feedback and suggestions on what questions would be relevant to add. When it comes to purchasing credits, you can get a discount when you purchase our bigger packages. Normally credits are $1.67 each and when you purchase these packages they are substantially less.
