on 9/8/15We want professionals that use Thumbtack to take great care of their customers, and I'm so sorry to hear that this pro did not. We have an amazing Marketplace Integrity team specially trained to help you with this, Kathy. Please call us at (800) 343-1710, and we look forward to working with you!
Thumbtack should follow up on that issue. Be certain to post feedback and reviews everywhere you can. Same happened to my sister and she posted on all social media sites. She then contacted the state Attorney General's office. The contractor actually returned their deposit. Good luck.
Unfortunately KGB is correct. You need to try every way possible to contact the contractor, and document it. If there was a contract signed, or a check was written for deposit (for work to be done), then you need to file a claim in small claims court. You will need every piece of info on the individual you have. A License number would be terrific, their full name, copy of the signed contract (or written check), and the date work was supposed to commence. It will be a grueling process, and if you hire an attorney, then you will need to pay them upfront and include attorny fees in the amount suing for. Best of luck.

Contact Thumbtack.
Call, text or email them. Next thing would be small claims court I think. Hope you signed a contract.
