Hi Diane, bit late and see you have your answers above, but can only say this is a great resource if you wish to send family/friends updates on your activities etc. Well worth the value... enjoy.

There are two versions to Smilebox, one is a free basic service and the other is a Club membeship. The only way they would charge you is if you signed up for the membership. They usually have a free trial where a credit card is required and it's up to you to cancel the before the free trial is up otherwise you will automatically get billed. I only use the free version because I don't mind the ad much however the membership rates are pretty reasonable it's only $3.99 a month (billed annually).

The only way you would be charged would be if you gave them your credit card number. The first couple of years I didn't do that. I used the site and sent out cards, etc. but advertisements went out with my cards. I have since started using Smilebox more and decided to pay for the yearly price. I think it is around $39.00 a year.

It has been a long time for me. When I first got started with Smilebox I could try it out for free then after a few months (I think) Smilebox asked if I wanted to renew and I said yes and filled out my credit card, etc and have been a member ever since. One time I was going to cancel and almost did because I didn't use it very much but I think it is worth it if you only do one DVD of your Family Adventure pictures once in a while. They are priceless.
I use it because everyone else has to have so much more computer knowledge to do the same thing I do with a touch of a couple of buttons. I send it by email and load up to facebook... I can't remember what I pay but I believe it is worth every penny. I am working on a smilebox video for every picture of my mom and dad since they are no longer living. I hope you have some fun - get a video done with some loved ones...

You must have signed up for a Premier Membership which is around $40.00 and given them credit card info. It is an annual fee which is well worth it to make dvd's with music, hard cover albums of themed pix, cards, etc When you think the cost of an individual card is about 5.00 you won't regret doing this.

I am unsure as I have signed up as a teacher quite a few years ago when they were offering free service when you are a teacher. A company would only charge you if you signed up and gave them your credit card details. You might be best to contact Smilebox directly to inquire.

As far as I know, you are charged only if you want an "upgrade." Please email Smilebox and ask for help regarding the matter. Good luck!

Not sure I understand your question. If you never signed up with them, then you should change your credit card. If you did sign up and gave them your credit card number, then the charge would be good. I guess I need more facts.

So sorry to hear that. It would only charge you if you or someone else signed up for an account in your name. If you did sign up for the trial, it would automatically charge you at the end of that trial period. If you have no idea at all, then call your credit card company and have the charge reversed:-)
