I mean they provide cell service not internet that's two different animals all together. LOL you can turn your phone into a hotspot, which then allows you to tether your tablet to the phone and use its cell data but I think actually the only cost is $5 a month that's unlimited everything so I think just about anyone can afford that. But they actually send a SIM card which I believe was for the tablet and I never put it in so it could be it already came with cell service I haven't paid anything in months except for one time $5 and for all I know that was for shipping and receiving. As far as the $30 phone bill the government you already getting free service so you could apply that $30 towards the internet service if you have a provider in the area that's cheap but reliable. Good luck on that. If you need to know how to set your phone up as a hotspot you turn on Bluetooth for one but the best thing to do is just Google it say turn phone into hotspot and connect tablet for Android it will give you full directions.

It is supposed to be free until the pandemic is over and we're "normal" again. At that time you will be transferred to a pay account for the tablet. I don't want the tablet so I have no idea how to connect to the internet. They should have sent instructions or you can go to their website and there should be info to connect. When all else call your internet provider. Or find a six year old kid. He or she can probably show ya. LOL

Once you have been approved for the government benefit, you have your choice of either the free cell service or a discount up to $30 off internet service. But the internet provider that you choose to go with in your area must be participating in the benefit service. Most major providers are participating. If you go to the different websites of providers in your area you will be able to find out who is participating and who is not. The $30 discount does not mean that you will be able to get 100% free internet service. It will only be 100% free if the provider offers a service plan that is $30 or less (some providers are offering such plans, but they may not be the providers in your local area). For those who's plans are slightly higher than the $30 discount, typically, you may just have to pay approx. $5-$20 a month for the service. There is no definite date of when this government benefit will end. It was supposed to have ended already, but they have kept it alive because there are still funds available in the original bill"s budget. However, once those funds are exhausted, those who internet service was being funded, could have their service disrupted by the service provider. Most major providers have claimed that they will do their best to offer plans at a lower normal cost to help people to be able to stay connected. Just a reminder for those who may not be aware,...After being approved for the government benefit, you can not obtain both the free cell service and $30 internet service discount at the same time. You must choose one or the other. However, you may after 30 days has elapsed since first application apply for each service, but in order to change from one to the other you would need to cancel current cell / internet service that you chose to participate in before enrolling in the service you want to change to. And while you can have multiple people of a household qualify and have use of free cell phone and cell service, Only one person per household address can be receiving the internet service discount benefit. And if you already chose your benefit to be the free cell service, you can easily hot spot your tablet (or laptop, or basically any other device needing a wireless internet connection) from your cell phone. Typical procedure to doing this is going to your phone settings, network options, enabling the hot spot option, configure your phones hotspot with a password, enable the wireless option on the device you wish to connect to your phone's hotspot, find your phone's network ID (usually it is just the name of your phone, but you can change your phone's name to anything you would like) under the list of available wireless connections, choose yours, enter the requested password that you set previously for your phone's hotspot, then just click or touch on the "connect" button.
Hope this was useful info
