You will need to prove to the bank's satisfaction that you indeed did not receive what you paid for. The merchant also has the right to contest your claim. And deadlines apply. They are not the same for every credit card and there are different deadlines for different circumstances. For these reasons, in the event of a complex transaction dispute, you may require the type of assistance we provide to explain to the banks why you are in the right. The chargeback guidelines issued by the card networks are tedious and complicated and are hundreds of pages long, so the dialogue with the bank has to be conducted on a professional level.

Let me know when you have a no win - no fee model. otherwise, it sounds like more money down the drain with no surety.

MC: We wish we could offer a no-win/no-fee model to everyone as well. But our resources would not be able to sustain it. We would then be obliged to take on cases too numerous to count that would overwhelm out staff and prevent us from adequately addressing urgent disputes that are time-sensitive. Keep in mind that the research and preparation that we invest in the cases we are able to accept cost us money as well, and the up-front fee is required to cover that -- even though at times it does not, and we pick up the rest. If you were to engage an attorney or accountant to do the same amount of work we do for each case, they would likewise expect an up-front fee, and for the same reasons.
