If you want to be issued Florida plates, the vehicle has to be titled in Florida (unless you are active duty military or the vehicle has lien). If the vehicle is not already titled in Florida and in your name, you must complete a title transfer along with your new Florida registration/plate request and send in the title you have which will be essentially discarded and replaced with a new Florida title. If the vehicle is already titled in Florida and in your name, you can request just Florida plates and you will not be required to send in the title. We hope this information helps.
