What good is the review of a product I buy if only positive reviews are acceptable? I was contacted to change my negative review to a positive one. So am I supposed to lie?

You are not required to change a negative review if you had a negative experience with a seller. Sellers cannot leave negative reviews for buyers, but as buyers we do have the ability to warn other buyers when sellers don't practice good business. If, after a bad experience, the seller makes an effort to fix the problem, I would consider changing my review. If they don't, then they deserve it. I usually wait to leave feedback until I have received the product and can verify that it is as described before I leave feedback. Once left, feedback can be retracted, but it usually requires opening an eBay case to do so.

Do not use ebay or pay pal, i tried to return faulty items too the seller, no return email from seller, ebay would not give me phone number, SCAM. I use amazon all the time and have been no problems. Sorry you had this problem. Call the bbb.

As an seller-it would be hoped that eBay woud be more transparent about their rules and policies-a lot of them are very vague and don't give you much options to work with-depending on who contacted you to change your review, if it was eBay, then that is suspicious because I have both bought and sold items on eBay and have left both positive and negative feedback on both and have never been asked to change my feedback, but if you have received an item that was not up to expectations, then I would not change my review no matter what either eBay or anyone else says

LMAO! Ebay will remove your negative feedback for their precious sellers, so you can't even trust the seller rating system! I know, they did it twice to me.

First I would contact the seller to see if he would make it right with the product if it wasn't up to my expectations. Most sellers are honest and have a return policy. I would not leave a negative unless I had first tried to resolve the problem with the seller and if it could not be resolved maybe than a negative. It would depend on the situation.

A review written in a positive and fair way is healthy. However in everything in life there is 2 sides to every experience. And reviews just like options are very subjective. For the same item some buyers will says it's fantastic and others say it sucks. Options are as random and subjective so reviews are not fair if as a seller you cannot share your feedback also. The truth is some buyers are frauds just as much as some sellers are. The system is stacked against sellers because at the end of the day EBay wants buyers to spend spend spend so they like to create this unfair system to give the illusion that buyers are safe.
It creates a landscape that promotes abuse and fraud in my oppinion. You just don't get the craziness and abuse you experience on eBay on any other platform. Buyers are conditioned a certain way and taught how to behave.

Ebay is there for you to suck your money! Haha... i guess the CEO never ever tried to sell on ebay! Its just not working, USE CRAIGSLIST ITS STILL THE BEST! Also amazon is great i never had problem. Takes forever to sell something on ebay and something goes bad THERE IS NO HELP whatsoever. EBAY WILL RIP YOU OFF trust me

You already know the answer and that is you do not change your negative to a positive. If you do not know right from wrong maybe you should not do reviews. But you already knew that. Answer to question: NO

I bought an item that was of very poor quality.

The seller let me keep the item and he returned all my money.

Talk to the seller and he should help you. Threatening negative feedback is the most I would do. Dont actually do it if you can. It helps no one.

No. The point of writing a review is to share your experience with the buyer or seller. As a result, other users will read your comment and decide for themselves if the reviewed person is someone they would like to do business with.

If a business is telling you to change your review, then in my opinion, they are a terrible business. They should be changing what they received the bad review about and not the review itself.

In short, the truth of your experience saves others.
