Question:
I live in north carolina and have a small, less than $1,000, claim for damage & destruction of some of my beach vacation rental property in north carolina by two out of state parties - one in russellville, al and the other in sheridan, in. nc law requires claims to be filed in the defendants home county. i can not afford to take off from work if i have to appear in person in two different out of state locations. can you all do everything? how much will it cost for you all to do everything so that i do not have to travel to both places? aahenderson500@aol.com a. allen henderson 806 beauhaven lane waxhaw, nc 28173 704-846-8061

Question:
My landlord called me on january 20th informing me that our lease expired several months prior and that we were now on a month to month lease. he also stated our lease would come to an end on feb 29th and the new one ( with a 20% increase $550 extra per month) would begin on march 1. we gave him notice by email that we could not afford the increase and would move out march 1st. he seemed okay with our leaving and acknowledged it by email. in addition he showed the apartment through all of february to potential tenants but price seemed to scare them off)there was a 60 day vacate notice to landlord in our original lease, but since we were on a month to month we feel that no longer was in effect. also he gave us less than 60 days to make a decision. and i believe rent increases over 11% need to be given 60 days notice. he did not. we gave him over 30 notice. he acknowledged. now he is refusing to return our $2,725 security deposit. also is refusing to return our $500 ( refundable) pet security deposit because we failed to give him 60 days notice. any chance or validity to our case in getting a refund? btw, our landlord is middle eastern so maybe unfamiliar with laws here). thank you david macd703@hotmail.com
