Question:

I have recently joined care.com. and to be honest i need to know this. this person texted me and told me her boss needs a housekeeper 3 days a week and to email her. so i emailed her boss and told her i would be willing to do so just needed info. finally she emailed me back today and told be bascially what she needed to be done. and literally i would be taking care of her house for her. which i dont have a problem with. the pay is great! but i am worried she might be a scam... especially to the fact her and her husband our film artists... what kind im not sure. and she told me i would be spending a period of time with her husband. which makes me and my husband a little suspicious and worried. so my question is... has anyone had this same experience? the email address of the woman is oliviaplusjones@outlook.com... i just need to know if anyone knows if she is a scam

Answer:

Delete Care.com... Only scammers reach out to you. That website is a waste of money

Question:

How reliable are the senior care workers that are listed on your site?

Answer:

You should check people you hire regardless. I got hired from both sittercity and care.com and love the folks i work for. They are very kind people and thank me frequently for being in their lives.

Question:

I'm still not sure this is a legitimate business. when i tried it to find a tutor i got no responses, even from people who supposedly checked their messages daily. now my 17 year old is looking for work and keeps being declined because i do not pass security. i work for the government. i have a nursing license in 26 states. but i cannot answer the solicitously worded feedback emails since they close my account automatically. no one returns phone calls. the intermittent email responses just say to try again, but it keeps happening. how can i find out what in the world is making me fail this mysterious security check?

Answer:

Care.com does not have customer service division whatsoever. They do have an "excuse division" that provides boilerplate responses ex "We reserve the right to remove anyone for any reason at anytime with no explanation" The background check company they use is not a real background check company and not used for any official business such as Nurses or Military. Government agencies would not consider this to be a background check. It is a shotty service ran by computers and 90% unreliable. There is no way to get a copy of the report and Care.com will not give out any information at all about a failed background check. Many criminals pass the check and many people fail after 30 years of being a police officer, retired Drs, school teachers and many veterans fail with no record at all. Here is proof to what I am saying: Google NBC investigates caregiver sites background checks. OR Google: NBC 5 Chicago "Criminals pass background checks on sitter site" (A very informing news video naming Care.com)

Question:

Is it true that caregivers can delete comments from their site?

Answer:

Hi, I believe you may be referring to reviews/recommendations posted on a caregiver's profile. Caregiver's are not able to delete reviews/recommendations posted to their Care.com profile. I hope this answers your question and if you have any further questions, please feel free to review our FAQs or reach out at www.help.care.com. Kristen Care.com Member Care

Question:

How would i look up reviews for a potential caregiver

Answer:

Do your own research! Google their name, check 3 references and do a background check. Care.com is only concerned about getting paid and isn't concerned about the quality of care for your children. They actually go so far as filter out negative reviews and block people from posting them so you will only see positive reviews on the site. There are far better and cheaper ways to find reliable, quality childcare!
