I would like to know if it is possible for a babysitter to run a background check on parents? Minors as young as 14 years old are allowed to babysit at Care.com in stragers homes, off the net with no adult supervision. Could the parents of that 14 year old minor run a background on the employer parents?

My experience was that Care.com ran a background check on me immediately upon purchasing a premium account. My account was suspended because of a dismissed non-drug, non-violent charge. When I contacted them to ask why I was being treated as a criminal when I am not, they informed me that they suspend the account of anyone with any conviction or non-conviction in their background (covering only the previous 7 years). However, only one adult in the household needs to be named on the account and they make no effort to determine the number, names, or backgrounds of any other adults in the household. I would definitely be concerned if it was my child going to strangers houses. My opinion is that Care.com does a terrible job of protecting any of the users on its site and you are better off spending the money you would be paying them for membership conducting your own research into potential caregivers/employers.

They have just done this to me as well Rose, on a 14 year old simple misdemeanor communication harassment with extenuating circumstances. I have been a private duty senior care coordinator for years, never had an issue with employment as most companies, do not use a misdemeanor at 23 against you at 37. Then I was suppose to have 90 days to fix the problem and they called prospective clients to interrupt my earning ability. This company is a cash cow corrupted corp. They make rules as they go. I was advised by the BBB of Boston to file a complaint, as well as the Federal Trade Commission, because they do not have the right to dig deeper than they state they are. They caregivers they provide are mediocre at best, and even that is a stretch! Funny they told me 7 years too, but went back 14. You may want to file a formal complaint as well!
