on 6/18/15I suggest you check w a couple of local churches/synagogues or even senior citizen centers... at least it will give you a start to get info
I think they only check for child abuse charges, not much else. I'm in the same situation, nobody to watch my daughter. I'm wary of ppl to begin with, so this was a huge disappointment.
Google NBC investigates caregivers passing background checks with criminal records at Care.com. This was the official statement that Care.com made after the investigation was aired on NBC.
QUOTE ----"THE SAFETY OF OUR COMMUNITY IS PARAMOUNT TO US AND WE ARE DEEPLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE FINDINGS BY NBC. HOWEVER, THE REALITY IS THERE IS NO CENTRALIZED DATABASE ENCOMPASSING ALL CRIMINAL CHARGES."---
So even if a parent pays for a top tier background check for 79$ The background check is not cross referenced against a social security# a drivers license# and home address like it should be. There is no live Id seen by anyone. Arrest records are not available by these half assed computer checks. Most background checks that are completed by Care.com have the wrong identity or come back clean with no record found when a long list a charges are on file at the police station. A total waste of money, very dangerous and misleading. Care.com should be ashamed, However they could care less.
My guess would be there taking your money and not even doing the background checks. This company is a scam and there only interest is to take your money. I am a nanny with over 20 years experience and could not get a job. I applied for many jobs and never got an answer. Why? I finally figured it out. Because I took the free membership, no one ever saw my applications. I am so glad to see all the bad reviews. They need to be put out of business.
First off, I hate care.com and believe it is a total waste of anyone's time, money and resources. On the other hand, you cannot trust anyone from anywhere. You have to do your own background check AND interview. If you don't trust the person or something seems 'off' you shouldn't hire them. Care is expensive and you really do get what you pay for. Plus, you need to be concerned about the potential for physical harm and abuse. Just because you go through an apparently good company (or a total joke like care.com) you are the one that needs to do your homework and make the final decision on care for your loved one. Don't leave it up to recommendations for them or else you'll probably be sorry.
I didn't use any of the person yet, just talked to some of them through the email, and didn't like. I just bought one month service, so just did one month search. Didn't find so give up. Really didn't know that they charge me every month for more than one year without any notice. Even my credit card number charged because store website attack, they can still charge from. They are powerful dangerous thief!
