I am expecting my order of a 2016 motobecane Jubilee Deluxe to be delivered soon. Is there some indication on the bike itself (serial # or otherwise) that I am indeed getting a 2016 model and not a 2015 or even earlier model?

The bike has a serial number stamped into bottom of pedal crank mount. That number should differentiate production year. Call Frank Cortassa, General Manager of bikesdirect.com brick & mortar location in Orlando, Fl

To answer your question, you will get the bike as listed in the specs of the page you ordered from.
A little info about the bike industry. Factories overseas build bikes months and sometimes up to a year in advance. For example, bikes that arrive in the store in January would have been built sometime in the previous year. Lead times for ordering parts can be up to 6 months.
Model years are not hard and fast like the auto industry. Some bike brands have actually done away with model years.

Year to year changes are not that great for bikes. I looked at a Moto Elite Trail that was listed as a 2016 model on Bikes Direct made me glad that I got a 2015 model

To my understanding, Bikes Direct doesn't stock bikes. Both the bikes I bought had to be pre-ordered. I suppose that their supplier could ship an older model, but if they did & you complained to B D I'm sure that they would make it right. They have been real good to me. Hope this helps.

I agree with John Z. That Bikes Direct is a reputable co. And my experience has been what you see is what you get...

The components the bike comes with should be a good indicator. If there are 2015 components, it's a 2015. The frame year (unless there have been radical geometry changes, which would also, in turn, be a good indicator) is irrelevant. Bikes Direct is also quite reputable a company. There is no historical example of bait and switch. Not the least consideration being that doing so would result in the swift death of the company.
